All things must pass

A picture from the Beatles last photo shoot:

Just remember, all things must pass...

Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey...

Just four years later, 1969 was nothing like '65.

All things must pass / all things must pass away.

RIP to the Original Jam Session

Your virtual living room door . . . .

you can shut that door at any time : it's your space ;)

I am about to boo$t DP but that's immaterial ...

You can choose to walk and it might be for the best :)

That is the true nature of humanity just now ... changes instantaneously

Morning star

Dawn.

It was always here.
If only your eyes could see it.

And yet "Be Here Now" :)

"Remember now - be here now
As it's not like it was before
The past was - be here now
As it's not like it was before

Why try to live a life
That isnt real
No how
A mind that wants to wander
around a corner
Is an unwise mind

Now is - be here now
And its not what it was before
Remember now - be here now
As its not like it was before - it was."

Lao Tzua, can you believe I'm just getting to listen to this now, five months later?

It is B E A U T I F U L - thank you.

I was reminded by someone that this thread had made an impact. It was good at arriving at the right time for her, so I came back to look, and read, and remember, and I found your song. Your song was perfect also, at arriving at the right time.

No doubt George was inspired by Ram Das's 60's classic "Be Here Now." Don't you think? I don't know the history of the song, but that is what I would imagine.

I went to go look for the book on Amazon (it is amazing where you can go on the internet), and found this one by Ram Das, fairly new - 2010: Be Love Now: The Path of the Heart .

- - - -

Ok, so I did a little checking on Wikipedia: "Be Here Now" was published in 1971. George released this song in 1973, indeed inspired by the book:

Part of Harrison's inspiration for the composition was spiritual teacher Ram Dass's popular book Be Here Now – specifically, a story discussing the author's change in identity from a Western academic to a devotee of Hinduism. Harrison biographers interpret "Be Here Now" as a comment on the public's nostalgia for the past following the Beatles' break-up.

Harrison wrote the song in Los Angeles in 1971, while working on the soundtrack to Indian musician Ravi Shankar's Raga documentary film and shortly before organising the Concert for Bangladesh. The recording took place in late 1972 at his Friar Park home, with musical contributions from Klaus Voormann, Nicky Hopkins, Gary Wright and Jim Keltner. The song has received critical attention for its dreamlike sound and the quality of Harrison's acoustic guitar playing; Rolling Stone magazine's reviewer described the track as a "meltingly lovely meditation-prayer".[1]

Be here now! Thank you so much!

Thank you for loving it!!!

What a great pleasure to share such a great song. Isn't it a great reminder/mantra? Thank you for the back story. George was always so incredibly ahead of his time - what a deep guy. Do you know the song "The Inner Light" he did with the Beatles? The lyrics sound straight from the Tao Teh Ching.... and guess what? I saw a picture of him holding the book in the Scorcese documentary about him, and I was like, Wow, I knew it. He recorded it all the way back in 1968. Amazing.

Here's a nice version of it from the Concert for George:

Michael Nystrom's picture

Wow, you're full of surprises, aren't you?

I had never heard this song, either! I thought I knew all of the Beatles songs, by now, but not this one. According to Wikipedia, it is only available as the B side to Lady Madonna, and "on the Beatles' compilation albums Por Siempre Beatles; Rarities; Past Masters, Volume Two; and Mono Masters, the latter CD available only on The Beatles in Mono box set.

So, no wonder I missed it. Thank you again.

And I have no idea what made me come back to this thread the other day to find your comment. But I did, and yesterday I went to the post office and got your package with the CD and your card and the tip about the doctor, and what was inside the card.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise. It made my day - it really did! Usually I go to my PO Box and all I get is the physical equivalent of spam, lol.

I'm looking forward to listening to the CD.

But the universe is weird like that. Your package was postmarked January 6, and I came here to this thread on Saturday morning, the 11th. I think I must have heard you thinking about me! That happens from time to time. Of anyone here, you know what I'm talking about.

Thank you! I love the song. What a great way to start the morning. I'm going to listen to it again as I make a nice big glass of fresh vegetable juice for me and Samantha.

And keep an eye on your mailbox, because something is coming your way.

Love,
Michael

I'm so glad it arrived :)

I wondered if it would make it to you (paranoid? Yeah!) I meant to send it to you before you went away. Send me an email - I don't think I can send you emails from here anymore. I keep a rather low profile lately.

And back to the original post that inspired this - this site is GREAT, Michael. "It's not what it was before". But it is what it is - now.

A beautiful think-tank. A garden of red-pillers. A spiritual university. I hope it lives long and prospers - as long as you wish! Also, I appreciate your essays so much. That's a very good difference "being here now" - you opening up your mouth more and illuminating people. You're a GREAT writer. Aren't you enjoying that?

((((((So glad to give you something for a change!!))))))))) Have a wonderful day!

And I'm still thinking of your sister-in-law... sending prayers.

OK THIS IS COOL

to see a noystrom post right next to a Cudnowski post is like high contemporary art.

To those of you who do not get Cudnowski he is a highly evolved humorist and you guys didn't "get" me either when I started. But if we can just get you hard boiled eggs to crack a smile....

Michael Nystrom's outpouring/passion in the below video

really turned me onto Ron Paul. Before seeing this video, at age 42, I never voted nor followed any politician. Since watching this video I've become politically active, voted, donated hundreds of dollars to Ron's 2012 campaign & to other liberty minded politicians, become addicted to this movement and visit this site 10+ times a day.

Thank YOU Mr. Nystrom!

That's one of the first I watched too...

Lit me up. Thank you Michael.

Thank you Booth!

We've come a long way! This vid should be posted everywhere.

Thanks Michael

just a question. Did you grow up when this was new, or are the words then, still appreciated by a younger generation?

I played keyboard when the Beatles came about and wonder what happened to all of the songbooks I had back then. ;)

Yes, thank you!

Debbie, You've been here 5 1/2 years. You know what I mean.

This thread may mean a lot more than what meets the eye. I hope that you are right and that this is just a neat Beatles' thread. However, I'm into conspiracy theories and looking for hidden meanings below the surface. I not excited about doing that analysis with this post.

Debbie's picture

Yes, I know what you mean, but I am taking it at face value.

Michael loves music and there have been no indications to suggest, in fact quite the opposite, that people should be upset that he is suddenly letting us know in some cryptic way that he is going to dump the DP. Did you go to his links that he put in the post?

Props

To the greatest rock and roll movie ever made. I used to watch this movie with breakfast and even read all the 'lore surrounding Neil Young's powdered nose and how Bob and The Band played an extra song. Good stuff! Thank you.

Michael you have done an incredible job.

So incredible, this site has become a political target instead of place where freedom ideas are discussed.

Freedom is attacked here now, I believe by a systemactic effort.

This site has provided many an opportunity to learn and share.

Rest assured that those the 'get it' have 'got it' if they 'wanted it'.

There is no reason to remain a target. American's are going to have to learn to ride their bikes without the training wheels.

Whatever you have planned, God Bless you and thank you for standing up when it counted.

yes, there was a big difference between 1965 and . . .

1969--

more kids that we knew came home in body bags in 1969 than in 1965--

in 1965 there was still a feeling that it might not become as horrible as it became--

I think.

Everything changed; it seemed that the bottom was dropping out--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Michael,

Is this an indication that Daily Paul is going to cease anytime soon?

Of course you will do as you want, but I will note for the record that I personally would like to see this forum continue.

Contrary to popular belief, not all things must come to an end. Hope is one of them.

No. I won't believe this. Some things do endure.

Ideas and principles last long after the person has left the stage. I don't like the implications of this thread. Don't go there, Michael.

Thank you Michael!

What an honor to be even a miniscule part of this experiment you undertook. You are a good man and a true patriot. I have learned a lot here and I'm great-full for everything! Thank you my friend and best wishes on your future enterprises!
Peace and Love.
