OMG! It's A WHITEWASH: Obama Information Czar, Cass Sunstein on Panel To Review NSA

Authoritarian Cass Sunstein previously called for banning opinions that differed from government

One of the men heading up the so called “independent” panel to review the NSA’s domestic spying programs will be Cass Sunstein, the former Obama regulatory czar, who has a history of seeking to strictly control information and stifle dissent against government.

The announcement came yesterday with the president describing the panel as a “high-level group of outside experts” that will examine potential abuses of the NSA’s data gathering programs.

Insisting that the group is completely independent of government, despite the fact that all of those on it are former White House and intelligence agency officials, the administration also announced that the group will determine if “insider threats” and unauthorized disclosures are “appropriately” accounted for by the government.

Well shit, let's get Philip Zelikow in there and

have done with it!

I'm sure he could take some time off from his cushy academic gig at UVA to lend these people his expertise in the “creation and maintenance of public myths”.

What would the Founders do?

Are you kidding?

ALL Government panels are a whitewash efforts.

JFK, RFK, MLK all were killed the way the govt told us.
There was no wrong doing at WACO...
at OKC,9-11 or 7/7 damn it. "We are the government and you should just shut up and trust us."

/me puts on my Johnny Carson prognosticator hat....

In two months, an elite panel of "experts" will come back with a report that says....

"It's good. It's aaaaaaaall good, man."

Really, why bother wasting money to pay these "expert" elite. Just let me write the report. I can write, "It's good. It's aaaaaaaall good, man." for HALF the price!

However a report by ABC News, which has not been denied by the administration, said the panel would consist of Michael Morell, a recent acting head of the CIA, and three former White House advisers.

In addition to Morell, who was deputy director of the CIA until just three months ago, the panel is believed to consist of former White House officials Richard Clarke, Cass Sunstein and Peter Swire.

Richard Clarke, the fourth member of the panel, is a well-known and sometimes outspoken figure in the intelligence establishment who served as a senior White House adviser to the last three presidents.

He now runs a private security company, Good Harbor Security Risk Management, headquartered in Washington.

"This group is very closely related to the White House already," said Mark Rumold, a staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. "When we go down this road of having executive branch insiders continually placed in charge of reviewing the executive branch, it is more of a fox guarding the henhouse situation."

Isn't that the guy from the Office of Government Conspiracies.

Has honesty ever been his problem?

Independent panel? Good grief

It's akin to having Monsanto's Michael Taylor on the FDA, or having Kissinger as head of the 9/11 commission.

What's next? John Holdren on family planning and health rationing panels?

If 10% of this is true, it is another governmental screwjob.

Sounds like another 9/11 panel.

Independent panel?
