8 Reasons young Americans don't fight back: How the U.S crushed youth resistance

Traditionally, young people have energized democratic movements. So it is a major coup for the ruling elite to have created societal institutions that have subdued young Americans and broken their spirit of resistance to domination.

Young Americans - even more so than older Americans - appear to have acquiesced to the idea that the corporatocracy can completely screw them and that they are helpless to do anything about it.
A 2010 Gallup poll asked Americans "Do you think the Social Security system will be able to pay you a benefit when you retire?" Among 18- to 34-years-olds, 76 percent of them said no. Yet despite their lack of confidence in the availability of Social Security for them, few have demanded it be shored up by more fairly payroll-taxing the wealthy; most appear resigned to having more money deducted from their paychecks for Social Security, even though they don't believe it will be around to benefit them.

How exactly has American society subdued young Americans?

Probably

...because their parents receive some form of social aid and/or benefits and/or tax breaks.

As well the public school system.

Very interesting list

Thanks for posting!

Although SS is a separate line on my paycheck statement...

I look at SS as income tax...it helps me to swallow the bitter pill. I paid over $6000 in SS taxes last year and my employer matched (per the law). I honestly expect to get nothing...or very little back. Social Security is Socialism. It is the largest social program (measured in US dollars) in the entire world! I'm 40 and I'd opt out of SS if they let me...and I wouldn't ask for a dime back. Sad to say this...but Rick Perry was right...it is a ponzi scheme.

Demoralization...

No wonder, the youth is brainwashed...

"few have demanded it be

"few have demanded it be shored up by more fairly payroll-taxing the wealthy"

So theft is the answer to theft?

This lost me at

This lost me at "democratic".

Simply another demonrat propaganda screed.

Stop publishing this drivel on the DP. We get enough of this nonsense in the so-called news and the countless morons who simply repeat whatever "everyone" says.

Also, it's a lie to say that higher earners don't pay a "fair" share of payroll taxes when they pay more money because it's at the same percentage RATE as everyone else. It assumes that a "fair share" is paying a higher percentage rate. Of course, even with "graduated" income tax rates already that way, the demoniacs still claim that income taxes aren't "fair" either.

And lest anyone assume that I'm a wealthy person, I am barely covering my bills and one step away from homelessness right now. But I THINK before I open my mouth, and I'd rather someone be able to hire me to work a productive job, rather than win some ideological battle that leaves me in poverty.

Demoniacs. Stop repeating their lies.

You lost me at the assumptive...

"more fairly payroll-taxing the wealthy" as if this is some elephant in the room that no one wants to look at...and which would "of course" be the right thing to do and it would "of course" solve the problem...if only they would stand up and demand it!

"Doltish"... to say the least...couldn't go any further...

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

The television one is spot on, IMO.

How many times have you heard someone say "I don't watch TV", only to see them watching movies on their laptop or phone? People would rather play with their phone than say "hi" to the person sitting right next to them. I'm not exactly the most outgoing person either, but that's just sad.
