80 House members: Shutdown better than 'Obamacare'

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than a third of House Republicans urged their leader Thursday to trigger a government shutdown rather than fund the implementation of the health care overhaul they call "Obamacare."

A letter from 80 Republicans asked Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to resist any spending bills that would accommodate the new health care law, which is nearing a critical stage of signing up millions of Americans for health coverage.

My Congressman...

initiated the letter. He also voted for the Amash amendment to defund NSA. I kind of like him.

Republicans need to thumb

Republicans need to thumb their collective noses at Boehner. Boehner should have been removed as Speaker of the House of Representatives a long time ago. Pull the plug on this absolutely out-of-control federal government. After some initial shock, this country will start running better than ever.

Never Ever happen

Rep. Boner will never go along with a shutdown. He always caves... we should know this by his actions, or are we too stupid to remember it, over and over.

Bone head could be looking at a stacked deck

If Congress doesn't get it's spending habits in line Countries like China and Japan will stop holding treasury notes. The FED will have to buy more ramping up inflation.

If they try and cut sending the Sheep will cry foul when it hits them, This they will not have.

Hyperinflation anyone?

Bring it on

I'm a military wife, and our military pay is our only income. Bring on the shut down. I'd rather not get income for a while than have Obamacare funded. That monstrosity needs to go away.

The affordable care act is not so Affordable in Minnesota

Counties are scrambling to ramp up the manpower to run this monstrosity, my guess is Minnesota counties have spent $50 M to comply. I'll bet every state is having the same problem and spending money they don't have.

"Minnesota Counties Assess Costs of Obamacare Implementation

Beyond its impact on states and the nation, President Obama’s health care law has effects on county governments as well, as Minnesota counties are currently discovering.

Some county officials anticipate a 25 percent to 30 percent increase in workload as they ramp up to begin enrolling new and existing recipients of Medicaid and Minnesota Care in MNsure, the state health insurance exchange.

Counties are scrambling to meet this new workload as they attempt to implement and pay for what Rhonda Sivarajah, chair of the Anoka County Board, calls the “not so Affordable Care Act.”"

The assertion that voters blame the GOP for the shutdown in '93

is complete BS. The next election the GOP gained seats.

more media spin for the uninformed.

Shut down the government!!!

But what about the Roads???!!!!

Fully Fund Obamacare Now

Obamacare helps collapse completely and totally the entire economic system faster. It's going to collapse soon anyway. The Republicans want to stop it just to preserve their political oligarchy and tyranny a while longer.

Can we please move on and far

Can we please move on and far away from negative thinking like this?

Sure...collapse the entire system and go back to the good old days of no heat, no air conditioning, no cars...back to the old plow and donkey and let everyone starve. All for one and one for all.

Nobody in their right mind wants to see the collapse of the entire economic system.

The only true way the American economy will literally collapse is if Americans stop going to work, and that's never going to happen.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

You're acting as if once it

You're acting as if once it collapses, that's it, which is goofy-talk.

Let it collapse. Let the trees burn and clear out the dead wood so the forest can eventually grow healthier and greener.

Simple Facts and Plain Arguments
A common sense take on politics and current events.

The economy is just like the gradual evolution to a climax forest in nature, as the large hardwoods mature they snuff out most life on the forest floor. The canopy robs out the sun light, very little new life grows. A fire brings new life, seeds long dormant grow, grasses once again can sprout and provide for diverse life. Like Ron Paul has said, we need to liquidate the debt. Its a good thing, embrace it.

The only way the economy is going to collapse is when the dollar is no longer accepted by the people who make what we consume. Americans do nothing but pay each other to import us goods and serve them to us. If we stopped going to work it would be a net gain.

I know it's ugly but it's the truth. The only way out is if the government declared a state of emergency and repealed all business regulations and legal tender laws, absolved all major corporations and sold all their assets on the open market, and divided out all their land property equally among citizens.

Better than Obamacare?

Better than anything I'd say. Shut it down. Keep it down. The world will keep turning. People will keep going to work every day, keep spending money to feed their families, or to run their business. Civilization will flourish after the nasties are flushed out. Shut it down and don't look back.
