These Time Magazine Covers Explain Why Americans Know Nothing About The World

It's not news that Time magazine uses different covers for its different regional editions, but it's only when you gather them all together -- so you can see what Europe and Asia read in Time compared to what Americans read in Time -- that it becomes clear how insular the U.S. edition of Time is.

If you live abroad, the current edition of Time features a dramatic picture of an Arab rebel wearing a gas mask under the headline "Revolution Redux." In America, we got "Why anxiety is good for you":

This picture reminded me of when some pundit was calling Ron Paul a liar for saying that the police were using tanks. The pundits argument was that tanks didn't have wheels, but rather they had tank tracks: http://static1.businessinsider.com/image/4ecc0731ecad04843d0...

Not a tank

This is a tank.

Notice it's ability to attack things. That's a key feature of all modern tanks.

What you see is an armored personnel carrier. It protects the people who are inside it.

The police disagree with you.

The police even call their equipment 'tanks' 1 minute in:
If the police admit it, why call Ron Paul a liar who is trying to deceive?

Notice the ability of armored tracked vehicles to attack things without using a turret: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDUWH2nvezk

The distinction between tank and APC is not clear. The first APC was known as the "Mark IX Tank". What is the essential difference between the following vehicles that makes the first one a tank and the second one not?

I think you give Time more

I think you give Time more credit than they deserve. They are one liberal rag among many and their readership consistently goes down year to year.

No one reads

Except video game instructions and bills.

all i can say...

Is capitalize on the stupidity of the masses... We are the bankers and politicians of the 21st century.

One man can only help himself to the world, he can hope to help the world.

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

Cyril's picture

This world is upside down. WTF.

This world is upside down.

We can put gigabytes of data on tablet PCs - thousand times more text that we'll ever read. We can communicate instantly with folks on the other side of the world any time we see fit. We can send new TV satellites into space by the loads to broadcast the same Circuses (of Bread and Circuses) worldwide in 5 different languages. We'll soon be able to make hamburgers without a cow to begin with (if not done yet).

Well, and when I say "we", sometimes, it's reserved to TPTB only. Duh.

Etc, etc, etc... for better or for the worst...

And yet, EVEN MORE ASTOUNDINGLY, only a tiny fraction of the people all over the world can barely connect the dots of two centuries of collectivist plunder and big governments in all forms and spices that killed 260+ millions of human beings in just the last of these two centuries.

Oh, and yeah: likely 95% 98% of the french baby boomers AND of my generation AND of the next generation will have never heard of Bastiat - BUT ! THAT, you bet ! - are STILL being fed in public schools with all the socialist thinkers/writers a la Rousseau, et al, from age 10, non-stop and until they graduate from high school 7 years later.

What about Thoreau? Or Jefferson? Or Burke? The writings, I mean, not just their names. Have you checked the knowledge of them among your relatives or friends, America?

Why THE HELL did you come into the picture SO DAMN LATE after this DAMN BOOBTUBE, Internet and the WWW ???!!!

Anyway. Tell me about 21st century civilizations, now.

Even Rome never found herself, at any point, about to fall THAT HARD.

You silly Frenchman

Speaking about truth and history on Daily Paul.

Don't you know that has become out of vogue these days?

Thanks, but even here I think very few people will understand.

And those that do will always find each other.

Most Americans no NOTHING about the their own Revolution. And they have NO CLUE to the one in France, nor the origin. It's all about the same thing.

Silly myself

Notice the 'regular' posters here

That won't comment about this.

I have an idea how much attack that DP is under. And I'm just looking at comments.

While I think this place has been a great opportunity for people to meet, it's also become a target of the communists.

Granger that has Chickens and an Organic Garden has a LOT of time to spend on Daily Paul.

I didn't even pay attention to her posts until she did the I'm leaving thing.

Now, she's obvious and the site is so infiltrated by SPLC, freedom people should have no problem finding another url to discuss the same.

Note, I'm NOT giving you a URL.

we should always know what the other side is thinking. It's interesting to me the people who advance the cause of the SPLC, for instance, are incredibly transparent.

America is dumbed down on

America is dumbed down on purpose. There's virtually no news on MSM. They just human interest story us to death with other peoples problems that have no effect on our lives whatsoever.
