I Told (Asked) My Boss Not To Pay Me For Travel Time

Reunited with an old friend recently and so I'll be helping out with her small company. A lot of the work will be out of town which means I would be paid for travel time. As a passenger I read and listen to educational materials, and most importantly don't do any work. So I told her I don't want to be paid for travel time.

Am I an ill-informed idealist or a recalcitrant reformer?

I used to have a job that included travel

FAct of the matter is, travelling cost is usually calculated in when bidding a job. If your employer is getting paid for it, it is only fair that you get paid for your time.

Close - but the companies she bids for don't...

spend much time figuring out her per-employee travel expenses for her.

Painless way to help a friend - so do it

Just do it and dont worry. Whatever money you may have made is inconsequential as long as you enjoy helping your friend.

we're both about the friend part. She's a little more about the

business part. I'm a little more about...

the liberty part.

Where did these travel-time laws come from, anyway? Is it about the insurance? Is it the labor unions? Who's behind this?

The happier you both are with

The happier you both are with the arrangement, the more wealth is created.

but on another level, the greatest wealth is happiness.

That's what is ultimately sought. That's what money and shelter and warmth are REALLY all about.

She's totally happy with not paying me, and getting on board the

liberty train with our discussions about taxation and free association and all that,

but the big question is 'how to do it?'
