Marijuana Makes You Depressed?

I recently was at a Birth Day Party and some one at the party was explaining how Marijuana saved their life. I was excited to hear that and joined the conversation. Some old guy at the party said,

"Marijuana makes you depressed", It is not good for you".

I was shocked he had the nerve to say that to the face of some one who's life was saved from it.

I joined the conversation and said,

"Oh really? How bad is it for you? Because it sure looks like you are sipping on something right now that is ten times worse than that. People die every day and it is caused by the crap you are drinking right now".

He was drinking Rum & Coke.

He replied back and said, "Pot is a gateway drug. It ruins lives"

I replied back said,

"Pot doesn't ruin lives. They ruin them selves."
"And I am sick and tired of people calling something a gate way drug. Nothing is a gate way drug. The drug dealer is the gateway for more drugs. He wants to make more money. A drug dealer will always offer something else." If it was legal, we wouldn't have to find drug dealers".

He replied back and said,

"Ok, you make a good point but it is debatable."

The person who claimed his life was saved replied back and said
"It is not debatable for me. I could be dead today" You want to debate life?

I also added,

"I've had friends who died from alcohol. I've had friends who took pills, drank and never woke up again. My father was in the military who got kicked in the teeth knocked out in Iraq and got jumped by Muslims but survived, but came back to America to be drugged up by a psychotic psychologist who claims drugs are good for you, but their kind of drug".

He looked upset and said,

"I am sorry about that. I am not for war and what we are doing is not a good thing."

I asked him if he was a Democrat or Republican.

He said, "Democrat"

I then, asked, "Did you vote for Obama"?

He put his head down in shame and said unfortunately yes.

I replied back with a big smile on my face and said, "I voted for Gary Johnson".

He laughed and said, "The 1 percent huh? I always wanted to meet one of you guys".

I replied back and said, "Nice to meet you sir, but I think its time to wake up."

He then went back to Pot debate and said, "Medical Marijauna is fine I guess, but to make it legal is crazy". I know friends who are depressed all the time smoking that stuff and they all wine with Conspiracy theories".

I started grinding my teeth a little and told him, "I wonder why they are depressed? Maybe because Marijuana is a great tool to see through all the bull shit. I seriously can tell if some one is lying by smoking weed. Once I smoked I started seeing through it all. It makes you think more outside the box. So maybe every one is starting to realize we are just slaves"

I wish I added this. The only thing drinking does is it makes you stupid.

He never smoked before. Not once he said. I told him maybe he should try it some time before you go judging it.

Conversation ended but we talked a little more about other things. But seriously... Do you guys think Marijuana makes you depressed?

On an upside note. He heard about Rand Paul and likes Ron Paul. I told him to vote for Rand if he makes it. He said he would look into it because Hilary scares the heck out of him. So their are Democrats out there who do not like Hilary.

You dummy

Smoking a little weed now and then for aches and pains is not going to make you depressed...You dummy, its the Government that is making you depressed...seeing how they're constantly trying to gut your Constitution.
Don't blame it on marijuana when its the Government. Oh crap, my short term memory must had kicked in...I forgot..and people who believe they might be killed by a terrorist, and we've got to give up our freedoms.

Depressed?

I did a wake 'n bake this morning... headed out to Starbucks pro-gun meet-up, then hit a womens' martial arts self defense class. Couldn't or wouldn't want to do that on rum and cokes!

I smoke marijuana.

Follow Emerson's Advice: Moderation is key

As with anything, marijuana is best when done in moderation. I used to smoke it almost non-stop and quickly learned that it can hold back your ambition and make you lazy because you become content with whatever your life situation is. I also noticed that when I was forced to go without it, I was quick to anger and depression. I think this was because it was acting as coping mechanism for me and I didn't know what to do when certain situations arose and I didn't have it around. I believe there is value to marijuana, but that doesn't mean there are no downsides to it.

What about the Constitution?

I'd like to confront the Bloodthirsty Warmongers™ and ask them to point out exactly which of the Enumerated Powers authorizes Da Gubmint™ to make war on a plant.

The Commerce Clause obviously!

Because we all know that if you grow a plant in your backyard then dry it out and smoke it you are in fact obviously engaging in interstate commerce. So it has to be regulated by the taxfeeders with guns.

Depressed????

If anything, it's an antidepressant. The reefer madness crowd is probably trying to capitalize on the fact that it does, in fact, make you lazy. And the bloodthirsty warmongers fear and hate it because it also makes you peaceful.

You never hear about driving under the influence of pot, because when you're high, you don't even want to drive. You've got your weed, some friends over, a stock of munchies, and some mellow tunes - who needs to go anywhere?

I've also heard that the original reefer madness was racist in origin; the jazz musicians that brought it up the river from Nawlins scared the living bejabbers out of the white supremacists.

And I'm not saying that it doesn't impair your functioning, but we potheads know we're impaired, and adjust our behavior accordingly.

Plus, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that cops really like the war on pot - it's a lot safer and easier to bust some kid who's having a doobie than to chase down real criminals, and it still counts as a collar towards their quota.

"Song????????????????"

That's not a song - that's hip-hop, and people who know the difference can tell you that rap is NOT music.

But, luckily, I had the presence of mind to leave the webpage as soon as I heard the noise.

Rap *is* music

It's not music that I like, but to say it isn't music is just being silly. There are plenty of genres that appeal mostly to niche audiences or certain demographics, but they're still pieces of music that at least some people find enjoyable and/or relevant in some way.

But hey, I've only been around music my entire life and have been playing guitar for 23 years, so it's not as if I know the difference or anything. ;D

A signature used to be here!

No, sorry.

Music, by definition, has a melody. Rap is at best chanting.

And in any case it's ugly, and usually racist.

you cant debate stupidity or close minded people

that refuse to look at the true problems with prohibition and how it is expanding poverty and destroying the community!!!!

Well, it doesn't make me more depressed

than not having any...

So true!

POT has saved the world

countless times through out history.

Pot made our first ropes and sails, it made the paper man first wrote on, it makes man a visionary.

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

Marijuana absolutely does not MAKE you depressed!

However, if you are ALREADY depressed, as most Americans are, the marijuana will naturally enhance, or intensify, your depression.

Alcohol makes people into weepy whiny shits all the time.

It's annoying as hell. Party's on and here's a bunch of drunks crying in the corner. We've all seen this. Meanwhile the potheads are zoning out on some new shape they've just discovered next to the wallaby.

Weed's where it's at bro.

It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. Also there's pandas.

a substitute

M could become a substitute and smoking a lifestyle.
For me M use to be a source and a trigger for joy and happiness. I preferred to experience life through the filter of M.
I smoke for nearly 3 years on daily basis, you know.
From rational human perspective it is nothing wrong with that choice. As a freedom lover I would not prohibit any substance/drug. But I would like to tell any M users, that it is a substitute for true joy, happiness and harmony that can be find in relation with God through Jesus Christ. Amen

There are studies on withdrawal symptoms

Every drug, including regular old caffeine, has some withdrawal symptoms for heavy users.

Marijuana's (this is by medical study, not some bullshit opinion of mine) is irritability and depression. A lot people don't realize this though because:

1) You're not using when you're in withdrawal, so you might not link the two.
2) You're irritable, if someone said it was because of pot, wouldn't you already be kind of pissed, and so likely to just be angry that they said this?

Anyway, it's nothing like the withdrawal of things like heroine or coke, like I said even coffee has symptoms if you are a heavy drinker.

Marijuana's is depression and irritability.

Oh God, I wonder what kinds of votes I'll get. As if MJ is such a f*$king miracle that unlike every single last other substance in the world it wouldn't have any withdrawal symptoms.

All I'm saying is that people can get depressed as a side effect of using.

Also, just because your mind is altered doesn't mean reality is. Lots of people think they know all kinds of stuff when they're drunk - and I know pot actually does kind of enhance your perception - but that doesn't mean it makes you any bit less susceptible to grandiose thinking than beer. So, just be careful.

There are studies...

"Every drug, including regular old caffeine, has some withdrawal symptoms for heavy users."

Well, Marijuana isn't a drug. It's an herb.

And I'm sick to death of people who say, "Well, this study shows.." Using that logic, you can design a "study" that will "prove" anything you want it to, much like "computer models."

Running out of pot is depressing.

Withdrawal

I've recently "discovered" a "new" medicinal use. I've had to quit drinking alcohol, because it was literally killing me. And I tell you what - while not a "cure," a bowl (or two) can definitely help you get through the "white knuckles" phase of alcohol withdrawal, much like it can alleviate the nasty side effects of chemotherapy.

Hey! That makes it kind of the opposite of a "gateway™ drug!"

Another afterthought - back in the 1960's, a few buddies and I were chatting up some older guy, and he said that you used to be able to buy Tincture of Cannabis over the counter.

Freedom is my Worship Word!

That is...

for hardcore users.. that could be said with any drug that is abused!!!

For lightweights like myself, I might get bummed if I dont have any but that is hardly real depression. You know, cant pull myself outta bed, missing work, talking negative.

More like 'Shucks.. I dont have any weed.' Thats not depression. :)

Hear, hear!

Freedom is my Worship Word!

Pot makes me over-enthusiastic.

Still to this day in my old age it makes me excited with solutions. Then I try to, or think about presenting these solutions to people who are slowed down by alcohol, prescription drugs or plain-old everyday life and they depress me back down to normal.

Yes, pot prohibition is about more than suppressing our industrial sectors by destroying hemp trade. It is about keeping minds inside the box.

It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. Also there's pandas.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

Thats awesome. A similar thing happens to me. The way I like to describe it.. its as if a spigot is turned on in my mind and ideas flow through me like water over a cliff.

I truly love what marijuana does to my creativity level. It honestly opens my mind. (not to sound like a barefoot hippie... they smell.) lol

Scathing!!

"Nice to meet you sir, but I think its time to wake up."

OUCH!!!

I can tell you from personal experience that alcohol is the worst kind of depressant. Its unreal that its legal and weed is not.

I love weed. Love it. I could list all the reasons why but I have a million times already. The ironic thing is.. I dont even smoke that much and when I do, I only take a toke or two to take the edge of the day off or to help get me in a creative mood. I don't get 'blazed'.

Peace bro!

P.O.T.

I'm trying to start a "legalization" advocacy group called:

People Opposing Tyranny - P.O.T.

"A real Grass-roots movement"

"You're either P.O.T. or a P.E.T." (people embracing tyranny)

I have a really good symbol made up and everything. Just need to get a website going. Have plans ready for T-shirts, bumper-stickers...

Just an idea I've been thinking about for a while.

PEOPLE OPPOSING TYRANNY - Real Grass Roots!
Are you a POT or a PET - Person Embracing Tyranny?
