Dear World, Americans Don't Want War in Syria

Open letter to the citizens of the world about our war-mongering government.

Eric Blair | Activist Post

Dear World,

As the U.S. government fabricates its way into yet another aggressive war, this time in Syria, I understand why you might resent average Americans because we allow this war path to continue.

After Gaddafi's carcass was dragged through the streets of Libya, our Secretary of State told you with a demonic smirk "We came. We saw. He died." I get it, they make us look like bloodthirsty thugs.

You might think we all agree with endless wars and unlawful drone strikes. You might think we condone the indefinite detention or torture of other humans. You may think we approve of the global police state and spy grid paid for by our tax dollars. You may believe we support our government's hubris bravado to conquer the world. You may even hate us for it.

Despite what you're told on the two-way telescreen, we are not okay with what our government is doing. Our government has gone completely rogue. They don't represent us. We do not share its enthusiasm for blood. We're disgusted by it.

Like you, we just want a peaceful and fruitful life with the hope of a better future for our children. We want joy, peace, love, and the liberty to fulfill of our dreams. Obviously, our government doesn't represent these values because we are not in charge of our government. It's in charge of us.

F.U. McCain. F.U. Graham. F.U. Boeing, Lockheed Martin...

...General Dynamics, Northrup Grummond, GE etc. and your lobbyists for war profits.

F.U. FOX, Beck, Limbaugh, Levin, Hannity, Medved, Ingraham.

And where is all the anti-war outrage from the left?

They didn't care when Obama attacked Lybia, and they don't care now because just like the republicans, when they get their man in the White House, he can do no wrong.

Citizens of the world?

"Open letter to the citizens of the world about our war-mongering government."

There are no citizens of the world, and there wont be unless the globalist forces steering the mainstream politicians get their way.

I think it's quite obvious

He was referring to all the people of the world and not the "citizens of a world government."

Why even bring it up?

Because he didn't say people,

Because he didn't say people, he said citizen, which is a legal term that implies government.

From Blacks:

A member of a free city or jural society, (civ-itas.) possessing all the rights and privileges which can be enjoyed by any person under its constitution and government, and subject to the corresponding duties.

------

"World citizen" is a globalist propaganda term, and I'm just pointing that out.

The term "world citizen"

Doesn't exist as there's not a one-world government at this point in history. I don't believe he had an agenda by saying it that way, that was just the way he referred to the people of the world.

There isn't, but if there

There isn't, but if there were what would people all around the world be called? That's right; world citizens. It's about acclimation.

thanks for this--

expresses very well how I feel--

To be blunt

Everyone on this thread that is bitching about your tax money going towards funding all these things you oppose, I have a solution....STOP PAYING YOUR TAXES!!! I stopped paying last year for exactly the same reason many of you are disgusted. I am tired of busting my a$$ so the government can steal my money to give it to other people, wage endless wars, prop up their corporate buddies who would otherwise fail, perpetuate the drug war, fund terrorism, and most of all I will not give one more god damn dime to a government that is building a federal domestic enforcement arm (DHS) to crush every Americans civil liberties. As the saying goes "put your money where your mouth is". I read a lot of talk from many DPers on here, but guess what? That's all it is, talk. The time to for civil disobedience is NOW, the time to oust this government is NOW, the time for us all to stand up to the government and take back our freedom and liberties is NOW!!

To stop paying your taxes is the first, nonviolent form of resistance you can take against this leviathan government.

I see

So the dude who gets mugged in an alley way is responsible for his aggressor's next rape?

what?

"Cheese bread tastes good with purple dragon jelly under rock blankets" that's about how much sense your comment makes. Please elaborate in case I missed something?

Just because I give someone

Just because I give someone money at gun point, you're saying I am responsible for what they do with it.

Lol so many downvotes of ignorance.

True but until we have a competing currency they can just keep

printing it up anyway. Then, of course, we get the inflation tax.

I understand this

but it seems to be difficult to get people in the streets to protest so I tried to give everyone the easiest most impactful option.

Not in silence.

We need a website where we those choosing to stop can post their reasons and real names, and their line-in-the-sand statement. An explanation as to what to expect for those choosing not to pay and press releases about it to get attention.

So that they can't prosecute in silence, and to gain support from more people. More people would be willing to do it if they knew others doing it and could apply the "school of fish" mentality (i.e. the shark can't eat us all).

The IRS has largely won by keeping dissenters hidden and silenced.

If someone does this, they need it clearly understood and should be given the hero status that they deserve.

Alan Shore:

"When the weapons of mass destruction thing turned out not to be true,
I expected the American people to rise up. Ha! They didn't.
Then, when the Abu Ghraib torture thing surfaced and it was revealed that our government participated in rendition,
a practice where we kidnap people and turn them over to regimes who specialize in torture, I was sure then the American people would be heard from. We stood mute.
Then came the news that we jailed thousands of so-called terrorist suspects, locked them up without the right to a trial or even the right to confront their accusers. Certainly, we would never stand for that.
We did.
And now, it's been discovered the executive branch has been conducting massive, illegal, domestic surveillance on its own citizens. You and me. And I at least consoled myself that finally, finally the
American people will have had enough. Evidently, we haven't.
In fact, if the people of this country have spoken, the message is we're okay with it all. Torture, warrantless search and seizure, illegal wiretapping, prison without a fair trial or any trial, war on false
pretenses. We, as a citizenry, are apparently not offended."

Then do something about it...

I'll believe Americans don't want war with Syria when there are tens of millions of Americans protesting the war in the streets of DC and all the state capitals.

Indeed

I really think

You libertarians are our only hope.

Obama will at least make the so called liberals understand that they are just as much pawns as conservatives in this game.

The world stands by you

The world stands by you

What a silly post...

War exists for one reason and one reason only--natural resource control. Turn off the T.V., quit listening to the talking heads, quit listening to the politicians' lies. The U.S. is a company, a corporation. A corporation is in the business of expanding and making profits. Just because it calls itself "government" and just because you sign contracts (read "Invisible Contracts") with the U.S. that essentially makes you an employee of the U.S. (referring to as a "U.S. Citizen") thus forcing you to conform to its company policies (it's statutes, regulations, codes, etc.)... it doesn't mean it's actually government.

You can not change the system, because the system is rigged to give you the illusion of freedom. "Leaders", if you can call them that, are pre-selected. When a "leader" resists, said leader get assassinated (see: JFK and other presidents prior to him that bit the dust, and Reagan when he started researching into the Fed and Gold Standard; that stopped quick after that bullet to the stomach, didn't it?).

These...wars...will always, and I mean ALWAYS rage on because corporations do not have souls, they are machines. Machines need fuel to survive and thrive. Keep clamoring about how you want the machine to run, but it is futile because YOU are a willing and VOLUNTARY part of this machine. Your salvation is between your ears, not in some book or fairy tale savior whether his name be Jesus or Ron Paul. You unwittingly contracted with the whore of babylon (commerce), and only you can figure your way out. The machine, meanwhile, will continue to grab resource after resource after resource...

Open letter? Come on, people.

your having valid points to make does not . . .

invalidate the OP--

You both have meaningful things to say.

His open letter is the beginning.

Apparently, you've solved the problem? If not, what are you doing on DP; you should be a freed slave off doing something astounding now--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Nice

It pissed me off to no end

That I work my ass off to pay for this shit. About 30% of what I make goes to the Feds. About 30% of that goes to the military. So for over a month each year, I am working my ass off to pay to bomb some poor people somewhere. This does not take into account the cut that the Fed takes through debasement of the dollar.

Yet, you can still find proponents of big socialist government after that...
