Putting Our Money Where Our Mouths (and Hearts) Are

Until I wrote out that check that you see above about ten minutes ago, I haven't donated any money to the campaign. I figured that running this website was my donation. But I changed my mind over the weekend.
I finished reading the book The Revolution Will Not Televised about how the 2004 Howard Dean Campaign revolutionized fund raising and community activism over the internet. There are a lot of great ideas -- and warnings -- in that book that are very relevant to Dr. Paul's campaign. I'll try to share more about this in the coming days and weeks, but anyone interested in how we can leverage technology -- and also what we're up against -- should read that book. There are some great ideas in there.

The most powerful ideas is this: The internet is a great tool that puts power back into the hands of the people. (Duh.) Sounds so simple but listen to how this applies to Dr. Paul: First, it was reported that Ron Paul is close to raising $5 million! That my friends, is A LOT! That should put us solidly in fourth place behind the Rudy McRomney Trio. That is big news. Obviously Ron Paul is not popular - and is not going to be popular - with big corporations and the current powers-that-be (PTB) that donate big sums of money. So where is the money coming from? It is coming from regular people just like you and me.

Second, it was reported that Dr. Paul will have one million online supporters by 2008. If each of those supporters donates $100, that is an election war chest of $100 million, and that is enough to really compete with anyone. We can raise that kind of money, but we all have to chip in.

Third, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the election fund raising quarter closes at the end of June - so let's make a push to pump the Campaign's number up as best as we can! If Ron Paul really does raise over $5 million - that is the kind of news the MSM simply can't ignore!

I know that $100 is a lot to some people -- it is actually a lot to me! But I have it in my checking account at the moment, so there is no better time than the present! Please donate what you can. Some have the ability to donate the full $2,300 ($4,600 for married couples), and others will donate $20 or less. The important part is to contribute.

Just do what you can. Make a small sacrifice for the cause of liberty, Then come back here and leave a note that you donated. You don't have to say how much you donated - just say that you did. Let's see how many people we can get to take action and donate! If you have a website or blog, help spread the word!

Oh, and finally - add an extra dollar on the end. Instead of donating $100 - I made it $101. If a million people donate, that extra $1 will add up to be an extra $1 million to the Campaign, at a very small expense to us!

Donation

I donated $500 earlier this week. Will probably donate more...

First for me

For the first time in my life, I'm giving money voluntarily to a politician. I'd agree with anyone that tries to argue that Ron Paul is a statesman, not a politician, but you get my drift. I'm giving the maximum of $2300 over time, and am almost half way there now. I'll eat Raman and PB&J if I have to, maybe even stop paying a few credit cards, but Ron Paul will continue to get his monthly check from me.

Ron needs MY help...imagine that!

In the past, I have only made political donations for local races; in my opinion, presidential candidates didn't need money from individuals, only corporations. I see it as a priviledge to give to Ron Paul's campaign; I believe his campaign will be good stewards of the money given to them. I donated $100 in May and hope to be able to give again.

Yet Another Donation

This and all the comments here have inspired me to make a donation of $25. I'll be making a few more once I get a job.

Check's in the Mail

M. Raborn

As others have said here, my husband and I have been doing lots of things locally where the money did not go directly to the campaign, but it was still directed to getting the message out.  We have sent several donations since Congressman Paul announced, but considered what we were doing equally important.  Then when we saw the posts about Ron reaching $5,000,000 in donations and possibly 1,000,000 supporters,  by 2008, I realized we have to reach these goals or "they" will say Ron's campaign is just making false claims about the amount of support he has.  Therefore, we will dig deep and continue our efforts locally and keep sending donations.  The challenge has been made and we must rise to the occasion.  Michael, thanks for all you do with this web site and for bringing to our attention just how important donations are before this quarter ends!

 Ron Paul for President 2008!

Politics 101: E Pluribus Unum

What! Donate to a political campaign! At this point in history? Are you out of your mind!?! This thing is ready to jump the tracks and still picking up speed.

Alright. So, one plus five score, times a thousand thousand. Actually, that is doable. It’s the least I can do; for The Last American Statesman.

Don’t need rose-colored glasses
With a brand new wide-screen TV
Coup d'etat now in syndication
Coup de grâce for a pole marquee

Congressional shadows, marionette
Executives’ out of control
Silverware stolen, now its war eternal
And a gallon of gas for your soul

No hard feelings, jump if you can
From the Undead Railroad Line
Cause every moment gets more expensive
When you’re running out of time

Lyres, Lawyers, psychos and thieves
Zombies just dance to the spin
All I can hear is, ‘Give Us Barabas’
Can’t make that mistake again

Twilight approaches the empire’s edge
The abyss is just liberty lost
Say a quick prayer, light up a candle
And nod to the Rubicon crossed

Parchment empowered, the many make one
Echoes faint, of a Latin refrain.
Pray for The Last American Statesman
And all the rest on this Hell-bound Train

Donations and Donations to the Cause...

Hi folks,
I, personally, tend to be one of those people who guards their privacy at all possible opportunities. Here's a suggestion to others like me as to how you can have a real impact on Dr. Paul's campaign. For starters I donated $199.99, the absolute maximum I could donate without reaching the $200.00 base limit where they have to report both my information and the donation to the "powers that be".
BUT, I have more impact in my own community where people already know me than I do ANYWHERE else. The same is true for most of us. So, on top of the $199.99 I donated directly to Dr. Paul's NATIONAL campaign, I've been conducting MY OWN campaign on his behalf here in my local community! I went to a printer in town and had magnetic signs made up for both sides and the front and back of my car, BIG SIGNS. I had a window painter come to my office and my front window now reads www.ronpaul2008.com for President! with red, white and blue stars. Another trip back to the printer I got the magnetic signs from and a like minded friend of mine and I reached into our pockets and anted up $1,000.00 plus for 200 double sided two color yard signs as a first installment to start distributing around my home town and county. I went online to eBay and purchased 3 2&1/2 foot by 8 foot "Ron Paul R(EVOL)UTION" signs which are now hung from the awning in front of my business and I've been encouraging other business owners and anyone who will stand still long enough to contribute both to the national campaign and to the LOCAL one that Dr. Paul doesn't even know is happening on his behalf!!! By the time the Primaries start I expect I will have likely donated several thousand LOCALLY and my community will be a Ron Paul STRONGHOLD!! If each of us work, locally after we either reach our personal limit in donations to the national campaign, well, there ain't NOBODY around to tell us what we can or can't dig out of our own pocket and pump into making our local communities havens of Ron Paul activists!!
I figure that there probably isn't a town in America that doesn't have at least 1 or more rabid Ron Paulites like me. So do what you can, find likeminded people to help and LET'S ALL TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK TO WHAT OUR FOUNDING FATHER'S GAVE THEIR LIVES, THEIR FORTUNES AND THEIR SACRED HONOR FOR!!! Grassroots guys and gals!!

Ron has my FULL support

I NEVER thought I would contribute to a politician ever, and yet last week I sent off the full amount to Ron Paul!

I'm in a position where I can, so I want my money to show up where it will make the most impact, and that is before this next financial report comes out, so i figured, what the heck, I'll send in the max.

My job in the defence industry would most likely come to an end with Ron Paul as President, but I'm ok with that. honestly I find my salary obsene. I get paid 3X the active duty military I work side by side with. This really highlights all that is wrong with this current policy. Its the policy of siphoning the tax payers money! This little contribution I think is one of the best things I can do right now to serve my country. We need the Dr to fix our country!

Thanks

Thanks a lot to everyone. I promise my Dad will use the money to promote freedom. Money is needed, but I think we have to get the message to the people. Talk to everyone who will listen, but don't be too pushy.
Robert Paul

Robert Paul?

One of the good Doctor's sons, I presume? It's nice to know some of the family is with us.

You've made a good point. I've found that you have to ease Dr. Paul into a conversation when the time is right. Everyone I've spoken to is passionate about at least one of the real issues facing us and are more than receptive when they learn their opinion matches Dr. Paul's. From there, I direct them here and to ronpaul2008.com.

Bank Of America Boycott

Its great that you have contributed financially to the Ron Paul campaign. I just wanted to let you know incase you were unaware, that Bank of America supports open borders and illegal immigration.

You can learn more at http://www.bankofamericaboycott.com/

I didn't know about the

I didn't know about the boycott, but I've never been very happy with BoA. They just happened to be the biggest and the most convenient when I moved back to Boston. Based on their poor customer service, it has been on my list to switch to another bank. This gives me even more incentive, and hopefully by my next donation, I'll be sporting a different bank account with different checks!

Thanks for the info. This is how the free market is supposed to work. Free information exchange and competition. There are some local banks and some credit unions that I'm going to check out.

Thanks!

Foreign Donation

Can someone who is not a us citizen donate money to Ron Paul? And if so, how?

no foreign donations

of course, I live overseas and I can donate and I did yesterday donate for the first time $25 - but you must be 18 years old and a U.S. citizen to donate...

it's a good rule, too - otherwise, we might have foreign elitest governments giving money to Fred Thompson... we don't want that now do we? NO.

Foreign Donations

You won't be able to donate to the campaign directly. However, I don't know if you can "donate" Michael (for example) and in his kind heart turns around and donates the monies to Ron Paul ;)

First Time Donor

I've just donated to a political campaign for the first time in my life. I can see no other candidate who is honest enough and with enough common sense to redirect this country back to what the founder's intended than Ron Paul.

Money where my heart is!!

I started to donate as soon as I heard Dr. Paul had entered the race. I plan to donate each month until I reach the $2300 limit. Also, my wife plans to contribute after I hit the maximum, and she then plans to contribute monthly until Dr. paul becomes the next President. I strongly believe that he is America's best hope and encourage all to help him however they can.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Excellent point

Donate what you can, when you can. I'll donate again next month - I'm not sure if it'll be $100 again, but it will be something. Ron Paul is our voice and he deserves our support.

He's the man.

GO RON GO!

My wife and I donated $50 after the South Carolina debates in mid-May. It's the first time we have ever donated to a political campaign, and we plan to donate again and again. Especially before the FEC filings at the end of June.

Im glad to see Ron Paul's campaign doing so well! He needs the donations to keep this gravey train movin! So lets keep it up! Ron Paul in 08'!

Sent in $100 beginning of

Sent in $100 beginning of month and will each month {guess it will be $101} also I emailed the chairman of the rnc and told him about my donating to Dr. Paul's campaign and mentioned that this was a democratic family and if Dr. Paul was not nominated we would be voting democratic as usual. I think a bunch of these type e mails might shake em up a little at the rnc headquarters Ann

Donations

I've sent $25.00 two weeks ago, will send another $25.00 in the next two weeks.
I've also gone out to the local art fair and handed out Ron Paul literature.

Don't use Bank of America - don't use any bank that feeds into the Federal Reserve, use a Credit Union. That money will support your local community instead.

Sent $100 back in March, just sent out another $100.

Thank you, Michael

My husband and I gave $100 a few weeks ago. We are going to give $101 this week. I encourage everyone to give $51 or $101 or $201 or $26. The contributions committee will know we are dailypaulers!

Plus, my husband talks to many French Canadians. I encourage Canadian against the Super Highway and against the Amero to also donate to Ron Paul..he is your hope. Add $1 to your donation. Make your voice heard. A donation from Canadians is a vote for Freedom and against the North American take-over.

I made a $100.00 contribution

I made a $100.00 contribution about one week ago. This was the first contribution that I have ever made to a presidential campaign, about ten years ago I made a contribution to Ron Paul's congressional campaign in order to show support for his return to Congress.

For those of you that are interested here is a link to a web page where you can find the financial disclosure information for each declared presidential candidate:

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp?cycle=2008

This site should be updated sometime after the close of the current quarter which ends this month.

Thank you so much!

Thank you everyone for the great responses!

Yes, just a few small sacrifices will allow for more donations. This is my best idea for how to save money: Cancel your cable TV! TV rots your brain, steals your time and keeps you from thinking your own thoughts. You'll save at least $40 per month, maybe more. This article says 2.5 million less people are watching TV compared to last year. It is a real trend. And no wonder - there's never anything good on.

As I say at my other site, Bull! Not bull: "Turn off the TV and Think!"

Worried about missing Ron Paul on TV? We've got you covered! It'll show up on YouTube, guaranteed!

Michael

He's the man.

Make multiple small contributions

I have made a total of 3 contributions now at 25 bucks each.. Spread out over several weeks now. Much easier to afford, also do it through the website, it makes it seem less painful.

Last one was about 1 week ago...

Already done but..

I gave paul $100 already but.. I'm going to double it soon. ;)

Donated

I have donated already and plan to do so in the near future.

Jumping for Joy!

We too are a single income family and are pleased to have to sqeeze a little harder to find that $25. Plan to contribute out of as many paychecks as possible. I like the extra dollar Idea too. I'll do that on the next payment. Thanks so much for this website. The only other time I have donated politically was when Harry Browne ran. I'm jumping for joy to be able to contribute to Dr. Paul's campaign!

Great Motivation

Thanks for the extra push. I've sent my third small donation and I look forward to sending more as I can. As fiscally frugal as Dr Paul is, I am confident that each dollar that we send him will count much more than the dollars gven to the other spend-happy candidates. I wouldnt be surprised if every Ron Paul dollar would be worth 3 to 5 times more than the "front runners" and that is something that I really like about him.

Donated $50.0

I donated $50.00 on Saturday.and will send more upon my next pay period.
At the same time, for those like me who are Christian's, add a prayer in as well.

Good luck Dr. Paul, this country needs you.

$600 for us - c'mon folks, there's so much at stake here!

We're a family of 8, single-income, and are stretched...

Give up something; make a sacrafice; step up to the plate.

Congressman Paul is literally putting his life on the line for

the principles that made our country great. 50,000 people

today giving just $40 is another $2 Million. I'm so anxious

to cram the fundraising numbers down the MSM's mouth.

Don't stop telling, don't stop giving, don't stop fighting!

I donated

I donated $50.00, which being unemployed was a substantial amount, at least to me. It was also a first, I had never donated money to any candidate before.

I have donated

and i intend to donate every payday till the limit is reached.
I would like to know if there is a place where we can see how the fund raising is going.

I donated

I donated and bought bumper stickers. I have been flooding all my family members with links to Ron Paul videos on YouTube. I have even converted a Joe Biden supporter at my work place. Many people wont bother to read a website if you send them a URL, but they will watch a video.

Go Ron go!

1 Million * 101 dollars

Mmm let's do it.

Fiat dollars for a great cause

I have just contributed to the campaign and feel it is a better investment than keeping it in a savings account where the purchasing power of the dollar is being eroded away. The econimic situation in the U.S. is what exposed me to the great Dr. Everyone reading this..donate before the end of June to have your donation logged for THIS QUARTER. It is important to show an incredible percentage increase so the main stream media will have to report on it.

donated for the first time

I donated $25 a few weeks ago. I vote in every election, but before this one, I've always voted for the democrat because I thought they were the lesser of two evils.
not this time
