Good Story

two months old but I will still bump it. These two guys are patriots whether they consider themselves so, or not.

Maybe the cop just wanted a

Maybe the cop just wanted a Liter of Soda?

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

ya had me at "cops get beat up"

Cracker Cop

That gutless wonder wouldn't have started anything with two black guys if it wasn't for his government suit. He's a punk with a badge and a gun.

From what I see in the video

From what I see in the video the main culprit is the slightly smaller skinnier cop. In my opinion he is clearly the one who instigated and started the fight. The slightly bigger cop in my opinion doesn't deserve to loose his job as it appears he came in slightly after once the fight started between them and the other cop, at first it looks like he is trying to seperate them from each other and than he is getting swung on.

I obviously feel though the black men were in the right. The skinny cop should be fired and the heavier cop should not.

The sad thing is though without this video, it would of been a case of cops word vs the black guys word and the cops would get away with it. Unfortunately to many cops believe they are being put above the law, not representatives of protecting it.

Well -execpt the fact that fatty Mcfatboy didn't bother to

stop his partner from profiling, following, harassing and assaulting another person.

I have to agree with those who are saying that cops who sit idly by while watching fellow cops behave badly should be held just as accountable.

It is much like at the end of A Few Good Men - it was proven they were just following orders - but the judge still decided on dishonorable discharges - here is the part:

Downey: I don't understand... Colonel Jessup said he ordered the Code Red.

Galloway: I know but...

Downey: Colonel Jessup said he ordered the Code Red! What did we do wrong?

Galloway: It's not that simple...

Downey: What did we do wrong? We did nothing wrong!

Dawson: Yeah we did. We were supposed to fight for people who couldn't fight for themselves. We were supposed to fight for Willy.

And cops are supposed to fight for the innocent - not sit by while seeing them harassed, profiled and ultimately attacked. The fat cop should have grabbed his partner.

You're right on the money

You're right on the money here.

Poll at the bottom of fox page

After watching the video, who do you think is at fault?

76% officers
14% both
10% Citizens

The real criminal hear is the commander in charge

to come back and say that merely swatting away and officers hand is not only assault, but justification for punching these two, is ridiculous. In a city filled with crime and racial problems, you think the directive would be the exact opposite.

But lets forget the fight for a second. EVEN IF the cops were justified in punching these kids(which I of course think they are NOT)- they should both be fired for their actions leading up to the fight - namely tailing a citizen with no probable cause, illegally demanding id and then filing a false report. Forget the fight - ALL the other actions are far worse. Hey- boys will be boys - fights will happen - but there is no justification for the rest.

What sentence would a citizen

What sentence would a citizen get for assaulting a police officer the way the police officer assaulted them? Double that sentence for the police officer, since this is someone who is supposed to uphold the law.

2-7 years, depending on State

And the judge would max the sentence, since it was an officer.

And I agree with you: double the sentence for the cop. He's suppose to be the "standard," and he just promoted violence in a public venue.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

They're Hosed

1) cop's word against a mundane citizen's, forget about the video, 'failure to obey an order, failure to identify themselves, threatening an officer blah blah blah' or other such made up BS crimes. Then the audio matters and it will be cop's word against theirs.
2) they're black

Not saying it's right, just saying that's usually the way these things play out.

But they did get a few good shots in....gotta love it. Have to admit - I admired the fact that they DIDN'T BACK DOWN.

My prediction: the cop's'll be temporarily suspended (read: they'll get paid leave) and the youngbloods will get criminal records. Strike one for them, another set of (black) men who have been....uh, black-balled, for no GD good reason.

In Amerika, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

F**k any man made law!

Natural law says you have every right to defend yourself from aggression. Those thugs wearing costumes and attitude were the initiating aggressors.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

First problem, its not a

First problem, its not a crime to say something "negative" towards a police officer or to bascially be an asshole.

They will either have the charges dismissed, or if not, they will take this to a jury and probably get off with a nice sum of cash.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

The jury should

find the brothers not guilty.

Afterwards, the brothers should file charges for assault and then find out if the could launch a federal suit for a racial hate crime.

The brothers should also file a civil suit to sue for redress.

The citizens of Detroit should immediately demand that the mayor fire the cops...or become unelected as Mayor.

A little action can go a long way.

I agree, mostly. I don't

I agree, mostly.

I don't think they should sue on the basis of speculative profiling. I think they should sue on the merits: that they were not breaking any law nor suspected of breaking any law, but despite this were unlawfully detained (however briefly) and assaulted. They shouldn't have reacted physically the way that they did, and I'm sure they'd admit that, but when you KNOW you are RIGHT and that you have done NO WRONG I think that's a very natural reaction. They felt threatened and intimidated and were, quite literally, cornered.

I think the guy in the news report pretty much nailed it. These two cops thought they could bully around a couple of "kids" and it turns out these kids actually know their rights and wouldn't be pushed around. You don't have to be a minority for that to happen - to be bullied, that is.

The cops should get a massive suspension at least. I don't know if they should necessarily lose their badges over this. Glad I don't have to decide that. I think the charges should be dropped though. If the cops knew in their hearts and minds they were 100% in the legal clear, why did the physicality settle down before we see anyone in handcuffs? Why did they apparently relent to some degree?

edit: just to clarify I wouldn't let these two cops skate by any means. In the context of the police abuse we're seeing across the country, I'd say in a heartbeat to fire them. But, to be fair, we don't know what kind of cops these two are aside from this incident. They made an enormous mistake and should be reprimanded. I'm not going to pretend to know 100% that these two are the worst kind. We simply don't know that. The locals do. Let THEM decide and not the DPD who surely will protect the most corrupt.

Wish I could be on that jury.

Wish I could be on that jury.

I have really come to hate

I have really come to hate cops. Taking your property, killing your dogs. FUCK THE POLICE.

Just for You: OG Hip Hop; when it actually had a message &

meant something:

I was never a fan rap, but

I was never a fan rap, but for some reason I get nostalgic about 90's rap. It was raw, it had a real message behind it, whether good or bad, but it was real. The bullshit hip hop today is all about "look how cool I am, I'm rich, I have money, I have women, I'm better than you. Oh and keep buying my records so I can keep acting like a stupid jackass." How boring.

yup, the 'O. G.' rap actually were

borne out of genuine frustrations of their own poverty, brush with crime & the 'law,' and general bad choices mired by both very much real AND PERCEIVED oppression at the hands of the state and accumulated, bad individual choices.

Real OG homies like Ricky Ross (NOT the fake ass pussy rapper who stole his name), who was literally at the beginning of the CIA-crack importation & cartelization operation pandemic, KRS-One, and Professor Griff know all too well, what's truly going on.

Plus, they, as you stated, had real RAW energy that most current poseur rappers/'musicians' in general cannot imitate, which clearly communicated the reality that they actually LIVED through what they were rapping about, unlike most modern rappers and frankly most in the pop music industry, who literally sing about nothing and 'their' wholly fictitious lives.

Besides, I know first hand, having a sibling IN the music biz (producer side), that most 'musicians' don't really make money at the levels that few high echelon "earners" (how Sopranos of them, right? lol) do, like Jay-Z.

Everything in the music video are RENTAL: wonder if kids watching music videos actually know that just because a rapper raps about Benz, Bentley and Lamborghini and multiple ho-s on his lap gulping down Cristal, don't mean he actually does, nor can he actually afford the girls, or to live that way, for that matter.

It's literally like everything about 'our' "modern" society is wholly built on fiction, facade, and utter lies, from banking on down to your local street hustler/peddler.

PS. Just read that, wow, do I sound like an old fogie! LOL. Truly though, I'm a cautiously optimistic person! No really, really! xD

The instigator

is the perpetrator.

In this instance, that would be the POlice.

good for them. The police got

good for them.

The police got a taste of their own medicine.

All I have to say to you cops

All I have to say to you cops out there is watch out. Your job is going to get more dangerous by the day. Honestly, if you're a decent person you should find another line of work.

"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that." — Alan Greenspan

"Honestly, if you're a decent person you should find another line of work."

Which is why I'm doing absolutely nothing with my criminal justice degree. In my opinion, until we see more of this, police departments will never change.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

That's because

people stop with demanding the resignation of the police officers. When people finally realize the problem goes all the way up the chain of command, and demand the resignation of supervisors all the way to the police chief or sheriff...nothing will change.

While getting rid of police officers who behave in this manner is a good idea, it isn't the answer and will not solve the problem.

100% cops fault

I'm getting real tired of this cops against the people crap.
What's with the 73-74 percent.
It's 100% the cops fault.
This is happening way too often and needs to stop.
These two cops should resign or be fired immediately, we do not need these kind of people on any police force.
The Judge should stand up and throw the book at these two thugs who call themselves the police.

I just watched the relevant part of the clip about 10 times...

...and there's no debating it: the cop pushed the guy first, the guy resisted the push, and then the cop swung at him (really hard!). Cop is clearly at fault.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

The cop definitely instigated

The cop definitely instigated it, but the really inexcusable part is when he swings at the other guy who is just standing there doing nothing.

If I was on the jury the black men would have no worries
