Would you support a filibuster by Rand Paul to stop President Obama's intervention in Syria?

From the 'Rand Paul 2016' facebook page.

If so, it could be an epic filibuster.

no it's not the right thing

no it's not the right thing to do in this situation. he already expressed that the executive branch of government is making a mockery out of congress and usurping powers.

that's all he needed to do. a filibuster will at most stop people from dying for an extra few hours. and then they will get bombed anyway. it accomplishes nothing and will make those of us who disagree look like sore losers.

spend your time convincing REPS in the US HOUSE TO VOTE AGAINST IT. it cannot pass unless it passes both the house and the senate. and if it is done with the approval of only one house ... that would be adequate grounds for impeachment.

All paper money eventually returns to its real intrinsic value, zero. - Voltaire

I support EVERYTHING Rand does...lol jk

I would love to see him do it, but honestly there isnt much effective measure for it. Filibusters gain national attention towards a specific issue and can only hold up that issue for as long until the person gets tired or has to go to the potty. Since "limited" military action is already on FuaxNews 24/7 it wouldn't do much to prevent the bill from being passed in the Senate.

In the House however there are many Undecided who will probably be persuaded by Lobbyists to go forth with the strike in Syria.

Even if it does not pass in The House, im almost certain President Obama will just take the action he wants anyways.

Yes

I pray he is not the only one too!

will it save lives? of

will it save lives? of course.

If he does a filibuster on

If he does a filibuster on this Syria war vote, I'll never mention he endorsed Romney while his father was still running ever again.

We NEED to hear the case made. They are going to try and ram their propaganda down our throats, and the filibuster is nearly the only thing we have to combat it.

If/when I am a senator, I will filibuster as many times as I can.

Cmon Rand, you have about 92% of the people behind you on this one. We need you to stand up and fight for us!

No

They would destroy him the media by painting him a sore loser. They will have their war either way.

Sorry... it's politics people. I know how much you guys hate that but someone had to say it.

Politics done right is about touching the nerve of the people

and inspiring and rousing them to support what is right. You can only do that if you stand up and make yourself heard.

RLC Idaho ABSOLUTELY would support fillibuster

But I am unclear on if the Senate gets a say in declarations of war, or if it is just the House.

A GREAT Question!!

...for Rand's bladder.

This could be the defining

This could be the defining moment for Rand Paul, especially his 2016 presidential bid. This will:

Show he has balls to stand up to Obama while also making him look like a dick like he did with the drone fillibuster.

Get support from anti-war left that pretty much hates Obama at this point.

Seperate himself from the image of the usual war mongering neo-cons.

Show that he is willing to stand with the American People that pretty much universally dont support this conflict.

And most importantly:

Wreck the "going through the motions this is a certian event" rhetoric we see with the Media and let the people know that we can make a difference and stop the agenda.

Give Em Hell Rand! Just wear some comfy shoes this time...

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Are you kidding on the drone filibuster?!

Rand came out of that a star and was a star! He rallied lots of support and media attention and raised awareness tremendously.

I think my wording was

I think my wording was confusing on the drone fillibuster, it was Obama that looked like a dick not Rand.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Comfy shoes and a piddle

Comfy shoes and a piddle pack. It's what fighter pilots use to pee into their pocket when they are on long missions.

UInconditionally - YES!

No if's, and's or but's.

DO it Rand!

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

U Betcha...

Stand with Rand!

"I, __________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oath_of_enlistment

There is no duration defined in the Oath

yes, if...

If it looks like it will pass, and it will in the Senate, Rand could do his part to inform Americans of what is at stake. With a sequester in progress and further budget cuts looming, it would be an opportunity to get the message across that for every billion dollar spent bombing Syria into submission, an equal number of dollar benefits must be cut from other federal spending programs.

Also, Rand should filibuster only as a member of a larger filibuster effort beginning in the House. It should be made clear who opposes this war because it is likely to go badly as have other such endeavors. Force the politicians who support this war to have to be more public about their unpopular votes. This is an opportunity for a new generation of leaders to make names for themselves opposing this fiasco by leading the fight against it.

Double NO

Obama is TALKING in the name of the American people for the defense of freedom from government oppression. Kerry is talking about what is going on in Syria from a freedom perspective, for once, and yet the hatred is so great, many can not seem to get what teh Syrian war represents on a global scale.. is it that our business, freedom/liberty.. or is it a dream, no money for freedom!?

I think if Rand was going to entertain the Liberty Movement, it would be great. I think if Rand wants to get power behind his ideas, he needs to appeal to Republicans who have the money..

No one in the GOP to back Rand, the Liberty Movement has, "Draft the Judge".. might as well be named, "The Liberty From Winning Movement".

Signature says "Stand with Rand 2016"....

endorses attack on syria.

I

They are talking, not striking.. the talks had over 1000 syrian troops quit, an ambassador to turkey defected.. this is good, and though congress is making moves, this changes things, like Rand said.. you can not predict what they will do.. meanwhile people are dying.. If it was up to me, I would follow Israel's lead.. they know how to protect themselves.. and I would take it to the UN and threaten to quit the UN if nothing was done about Assad's genocide..

But they being NWO, will probably find a way to get Israel tested.. iron dome.. which has been working against rockets from Gaza and Golan Heights

Who are you and what have you done with Granger?????

Sometimes I feel that you try to be obscure simply for the sake of obscurity. Almost like a hipster that's pissed off when their clothes become popular or the tourists start visiting their coffee shop.

Are you seriously saying that the newly reformed Al-Qaeda represents freedom????

Should Russia or China punish America for using nuclear bombs on Japan?
Should England have intervened in the American Civil war to stop slavery or Sherman's bloody march to the sea????
I fail to see the logic here.

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

No

What we have is Assad doing everything "Obama is doing", but worse.. shooting at protesters, shutting off the net, military brutality, 5 million in exhile, hindred of thousands of what we could call the Syrian Liberty Movment, who didn't start the war,, Assad did, on them. The FSA are troops they refused to shoot at innocent civilians.

The Jihadists (includes Al Quada, are cleaning up Syria for Islamic domination.. Assad is letting theis happen.. they are not freedom fighters, unless you think freedom from secular government and make Syria an Islamic law state...

And then you have Assad's military destroying Syria, because Jihadist don't care about advancing the human race, but making it right for Allah.

Obama and Kerry are SAYING what Assad is doing is wrong. I agree. He is saying to show force against them.. I don't agree, but I understand he's saying this because of who they are, not who we are.

He should take Israel's lead.

Still.. this would be like Obama shooting protesters and then coming after everyone in the Liberty Movement. No one is the Liberty Movement is protesting Assad.. they are protesting Obama saying he would use weapons, because they are not translating what is going on.

It's a shame.

Should Russia intervein and provide wmd to Assad to destroy the Syrian Liberty Movement?

No.7's picture

How about us 'non-interventionists' support not intervening?

This war is without a valid cause, valid authority, or an exit strategy. No peaceful methods of solving the problem have been attempted, no military intervention like this has ever been successful for the U.S., and every time the U.S. enters a war like this the U.S. ends up killing more innocent people than the Government being overthrown was in the first place.

This is actually like Bush sending weapons to Al Qaeda to find Saddam after 9/11 assuming that Al Qaeda actually was behind 9/11.

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

Assad is commiting genocide

genecode is a valid cause. Valid Authority would be the Un who is condoning it by staying out, and the exit stratigy is murder every Syrian who does not put Allah before EVERYTHING.. because Syria will be a state FOR, OF, and BY Islam, thanks to the Jihadists, cleaning up Syria in a way he could not.

Obama isn't going to blast any missles or rockets.. they are making a protest on a global scale taking into consideration who is listening besides a America's Lost Liberty Movement.

No.7's picture

You're confusing the heck out of me

First off, the Constitution does not allow the UN valid authority to go to war and Obama has said himself that he is taking military action on Syria with or without Congress.

You can't seriously believe in murdering people for not believing in Islam.... but that's what I'm interpreting by your exit strategy above.... wtf?????

Where are you getting your information?????You talk like Assad just pulled off a second holocaust.

Don't pay too much attention to Granger.

She has shown herself to be a nut case many times over. Better to ignore her.

No.7's picture

Sorry Vijay, but The Granger is awesome!

The Granger works very hard for the cause of liberty and I would always like to call her a friend rather than foe regardless of any differences.

The Granger can be ferocious and she absolutely will not back down. I like that about her to be honest.

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

Cause of Liberty?

Cause of Liberty doesn't mean being a Zionist, it doesn't mean being a Statist, It doesn't mean buying into lies that get us into War, It doesn't mean being a typical Republican stooge, also McCain and Graham are ferocious and wont back down, do you like them as well?

No.7's picture

The Granger was a delegate for Ron Paul

She is also member 408 here.

Granger=friend to liberty

I rest my case.

Your Logic

is a member of the dailypaul is automatically a friend of liberty? really? Is it not possible for us to be infiltrated? guess you haven't thought this through very well, I can only go by her words and they are words of Authoritarianism and not Liberty, why she was a Delegate for Ron Paul is a mystery, but she did vote for Romney and brags about it, she has called herself a Statist, she is also an interventionist, I don't see any thing different from what she says and a NeoCon, do you think they are friends of liberty? Maybe your a Neocon? Birds of a feather flock together.

No.7's picture

Ron Paul Delegate = More than I've done

And very likely a lot more than you've done for the cause.

How many of her posts have you read??? The Granger is someone I look up to at the DP. I wish to follow her example and join Ron and Rand in the GOP.

The people I hate the most at the DP are the purists, especially the ones who trash Rand Paul. Those people, maybe you included, seem to think that anyone who disagrees with popular libertarian opinion is a 'neocon' 'paid shill' 'statist' or any number of names that are far from truth.

The truth is that libertarian minded people are hard to find and we would all be better served if we didn't attack each other more than we attack the people we disagree with the most.
