Rand Paul Caves in: Now says he will NOT Fillibuster the WAR Bill!

After Rand Paul earlier suggested that he might fillibuster this insane march to War, Paul now has publicly rejected the idea of any fillibuster strategy.

And with so-called "liberals" like even Barbara Boxer (CA) happily voting in favor of the War, the whole U.S. Senate is now a slam dunk to green light this new epic catastrophy upon the World.

So there is no true political resistance now coming from anyone - except for Congressman Alan Grayson who has zero power.

No one who will step up and fillibuster this madness in an effort to perhaps save thousands...possibly millions of new deaths and new human carnage.

Contact Rand Paul's office and make him realize that if he doesn't stop this.....nobody else will or can!

Make him fillibuster!
It's the only hope.......

I'd wait until the full transcript of that interview has been

Any HuffPost scribe or blurb smearing the Pauls, should be assumed to be a lie, until proven otherwise, for the simple historical fact that they have, numerous times; to wit:

"That would be a misinterpretation from the media," he said at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, in response to a question from Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.)

He added: "What's not open to interpretation would be an event like now where we are discussing now for weeks at a time whether Congress should have to give the authorization," signaling that he wants Congress to vote on a potential strike quickly.

NOT a SINGLE statement in the above linked article states that Rand he himself clearly stated "I will not filibuster."

It doesn't even specify what "a question from Sen. Tim Kaine" even was.

A question? What WAS the question? Plus what was Rand answering TO, when he replied "That would be a misinterpretation from the media." It's always obvious when they quote a response, but not the actual question asked. No??

This is how L vs. R bowel movement 'liberals' & FauxNews neoCons have always spun shiit. Of course, that said, it still does not rule out the possibility that Rand may have floated the notion of a possible filibuster to see where its direction may lead, but, I'd be skeptical of anything any traditional enemies of the liberty movement puts out.

Hell, even those a-holes at RawStory didn't have a SINGLE mention of Rand in a blurb about the hearing, when citing Kerry's response to Rand. That's how desperate these fake 'liberal' a-holes are eager to smear or not give any credit when it's due.

So sick and tired of these scums.

PS. But I whole heartedly agree with you: we MUST keep the pressure up on ALL 'liberty' representatives currently in govt to do the right thing, especially in case of Rand, pressure him TO filibuster, unless some weird retarded Senate procedural prevents him to, which that senile cretin & traitor Harry Reid has done before, numerous times.

He was never going to do a talking filibuster

The Democrats will never let Rand control the Senate floor to do that again.

What Rand was thinking about doing was force the Senate to get 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. He got attacked by other Senators today for wanting Congress to debate and vote on AUMF but would then filibuster to prevent a debate.

He got what he wanted in terms of Congress actually voting on a AUMF. The fight now moves to the House where there's a chance to defeat it.

He's better off to focus on the House

The filibuster would be a short delay tactic at best.

Undoubtedly the White House and AIPAC will be exerting enormous pressure and leverage (read blackmail) on the Congress.

If Rand can provide support and cover for Congress members who need it, that is an intelligent strategy.

War with Syria and Iran

is a pre planned, foregone, conclusion within Government. A filibuster wont stop it.
Only We The People can, and I'd put money on it that if "we" started gaining too much ground, some Very Large Event would occur, to pull "us" back into line.
This is pre WW2 Germany all over again, only more sophisticated.

excellent analysis again,

excellent analysis again, Jill...

There could be some strategy

There could be some strategy here.

It could be that Rand thinks there's at least 60 votes in favor of war. Therefore, if he filibustered and they voted to end cloture, it would put a cap on debate time. Which means there would be less of a chance to air the debate out and convince these guys to vote against it.

Just a thought. Also if a filibuster does seem like the right thing to do, it shouldn't always have to be Rand. Where are these so called "peace" liberals at?

bigmikedude's picture

So, he fillibusters it for one day

then they just reconvene and vote for it anyway the next day. Just like the last thing he fillibustered.

If they want it bad enough, it's coming whether he does it or not.

better then nothing for

better then nothing for now.....and i would'nt discount an effective very well put argument finding the right time and place, whoever, whenever that may be

You know, the kind of argument that clicks, that perfectly describes the thing your unable to put into words, the reason that makes something in you want to speak up on what you are witnessing

If you throw the knuckle ball too often....

....then it loses it's effectiveness.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).
