Title: The discussion Syria won't spark
The U.S. administration has been grandstanding against the use of chemical weaponry against civilians as it should, however the prevention of such violations and atrocities will not be stifled by further endangering civilians’ lives by countering with lethality. Sarin was banned from production and stockpiling in 1993 with the UN Chemical Weapons Convention, which certainly wasn’t a deterrent to its handling or use by the faction we’ve claimed responsible for the attack.
The people have expressed unprecedented opposition to intervention in Syria recently. If the House votes against intervention as representative of their constituencies, then any appropriation of funds from the people for such an endeavor would nail the coffin shut on the credibility and representation of our administration. The Federal Government is printing notes to the utter impoverishment of this nation. The National Debt is approx. $16,927,745,000,000.00, which is approx. $53,466.00 per citizen and $148,131.00 per taxpayer. What legal and moral authority does Washington have to intervene in Syria?
The U.S. Government through military means has caused the death and injury of millions using such chemical weaponry as Napalm, Depleted Uranium, Tear gas, White Phosphorus, Agent Orange and not least of all is the only regime to ever use nuclear bombs on other human beings in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What were the repercussions for using tear gas on women and children in the Waco siege of 1993; for Israel’s use of white phosphorus on Palestinian civilians in 2009 as our ally; for destroying the genetic integrity of the Iraqi population through the dissemination of munitions in Fallujah in 2003?
It could not be a better time to end our pattern of intervention and employ the use of diplomacy and peace over missiles and the aggrandizement of our leadership.
