Take the Pledge - All Americans need to VOTE on SyriaSubmitted by mindwalker55 on Fri, 09/06/2013 - 20:17
Congress is poised to vote on whether or not to authorize an illegal aggression (breaks international laws and conventions) on the Sovereign nation of Syria. Talk about crossing a Red Line established by the world community!
The U.S. doing this amounts to vigilante justice at best (a lynching without trial) and out right aggression against another country if the presumed guilt of Assad turns out to be false. There is some evidence indicating this may be the case.
For a nation founded on the rule of law and justice for all, this is simply unacceptable.
The U.S. has not been authorized by the people of the world to be their police, judge and executioner. Nor should we accept such a position if it is offered.
All the polls are showing, and the calls to our politicians indicate that the vast majority of Americans do not support naked aggression against Syria in direct violation of international laws. Many of our politicians are indicating that they will ignore the public outcry and vote to violate international laws. This is not acceptable in a Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
So I am asking my fellow citizens to vote "NO" on the attack of Syria with me. We will not be allowed to vote directly on this matter. But we can promise ourselves, our fellow citizens and the citizens of the world to make our votes heard.
Please make the following solemn pledge with me. If you feel strongly about this please ask your friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers to also take the pledge. It is important to follow through on this pledge if we are ever to return to lawfulness in this country.
Feel free to share your pledge with your Senators, your Congressman, the President and your local paper.
This "IS" a Red Line in the sand moment and we the people need to enforce it.
I ______________________________ do solemnly pledge to NEVER, EVER vote for (not even for city dog catcher) any politician who votes for or who abstains from voting on bills of the following nature:
- Any bill that authorizes any aggressive act or acts towards the nation of Syria or towards their leader Assad before such time as the world courts of law have reviewed the evidence and determined the guilt of the Assad regime.
- Any bill that authorizes any unilateral aggressive actions towards Syria and/or Assad after the world courts have made their determination. (If the world's red line was crossed, then the world needs to enforce the verdict.)/li>
- Any bill that authorizes the President of the United States to take aggressive actions on his own judgment against Syria.
- Any bill that would directly or indirectly authorize the President of the U.S. and/or the military to spend money in excess of the Federal Deficit limit or that would raise the limit to allow spending on aggressive acts against Syria.
