We Need a List of Allies Across the Aisle

I was reading a post by Blue Republic concerning Rush Holt (D-NJ) submitting legislation to repeal the Patriot Act. Seems that much like Alan Grayson concerning the Fed, Kucinich concerning foreign policy, Congressman Holt is an ally in liberty concerning this issue. I believe we need to identify more populist Democrats that we would be more engaged with so that we know who the statist Democrats are (the enemy). It is just my thinking that a one-party system is not a good idea.... even if it is a libertarian party. Why shouldn't we pick our opposition on the other side? Please help identify more populist Democrats so that we can separate them from the worst statist offenders. You can even submit the the names of the worst scum bags and we'll keep a running list. That way we can focus our energy more efficiently on the individuals in the Democratic Party much like we have in the Republican Party (Lindsey Graham).

Allies List:

Ron Wyden

Scumbag List:

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
Nancy Pelosi

You are Right!

We libertarians/anarchists seems to identify those on the left as the enemy without even considering their integrity or honesty.

Most on the left are there because of ideological reasons.

We are losing because we cant get over ideological boundaries. For example, we know we can't defeat lindsey graham in the primaries. Why not spend our energy voting a libertarian Dem into office?

Séamusín

I don' think we should get stuck in libertarian dogmas...

And we WILL defeat Lindsey Graham!!!

What aisle?

I didn't realize this was a Republican website. If I had realized that, I probably would have never shown up in the first place.

It's not

Thank you.... drive thru.

Come on guys!

There is no group of grassroots political supporters... of any political persuasion... that is more qualified to vet sitting representatives than you and I am getting no 3VOJ... WTF!!!!!

you should have a "middle

you should have a "middle grounds section", not for isues you disagree with strongly, but a mostly support apart from one or two non foundation type issues

As much as i like grayson's method and mostly issues, there are odd bits here and there i dont see things as he see's things, and im sorry to say it rand supporters but rand goes there too for me

A vote for amash in the good boy list

King, macain, boner, pelosi, feinstein, graham in the naughty list

edit
and an undecided section.....that kinda screws with my list now, id put grayson and rand in there instead, undecided, but have agreed with, but also disagreed.....i think ill stop while im ahead, this is a longer coversation then i have time to get into, sections, that is

Ok

But I would like to keep this thread to democrats. If this thread goes over well (which it doesn't look like it is) I will create a seperate one for Repubs.

How about

An undecided / yet to be vetted list. I think there are a lot (if not most congressman that are just weak and will go along with whatever the more established legislators go for. Let me know what you would want it to look like. I think this is kinda important so I would like input from you guys. We have to know exactly what we are fighting before a strategy can be formulated. Here is a good tool to look at a visual concerning representatives leadership standing.

Ballotpedia seems to be a pretty good tool in general.

I posted an article concerning double digit Democrat defections

http://www.dailypaul.com/298408/harry-reids-defection-dilemm...

Senators Tom Udall, Chris Murphy, Dick Durbin, Joe Manchin and Charles Schumer are the Democratic Senators that have been most vocal allies...Carol Shea-Porter, as well as Florida's own Alan Grayson from the House...are also listed in your link.

Bear in mind

that this isn't necessarily concerning Syria. This is intended to be a holistic list concerning Democratic representatives that legislate in a populist manner vs a statist manner. These representatives would typically be more of the Green/Progressive/Libertarian Socialist persuasion. To use the Obamacare bill to vet these type of reps would be a waste of time. But to look at Dems that have crossed aisles to team with Repubs on populist issue like NDAA, Amash Amendment, CISPA would be very good vetting tools so that we can look at democrats that we would rather debate as opposed to Nancy Pelosi. For instance I would be inclined to say that Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin are complete statist insiders.... but that is just me. That is why I am looking to you guys for your input

That actually is a very good point.

And, on the whole, I agree concerning Durbin and Schumer.
