Harry Reid Cancels Syria Senate Vote and Obama Confuses Everyone; His family wants peace!

Harry Reid cancels Wed. vote in Senate:

You have to read this summary of Obama's tv appearances his evening. He has confused everyone, contradicted his own spokespersons, and even said his extended family is opposed.

"Obama suggested in his interview with Gwen Ifill that he's having a hard enough time convincing his own extended family that intervening in Syria is the right course of action, let alone the rest of the country."

Letter response from my Rino war loving congresscritter Rubio (FL) to me....funny, emails always say Do Not Reply. lol

Senator Marco Rubio

10:55 AM (21 hours ago)

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding the United States' policy toward Syria. I am grateful for your thoughts and the opportunity to respond.

As you may know, in March 2011 the Syrian people began to protest the repressive regime of Bashar al-Assad. In response to the demonstrations, Assad engaged in a military crackdown which resulted in an estimated 100,000 deaths, a number that is climbing every day. Assad's violent response to the Syrian people's legitimate demand for freedom demonstrates why his regime is a source of instability and why he lost his legitimacy to govern a long time ago. It is important to note the end of the Assad regime would be a significant strategic loss to the current regime in Iran, and therefore in America's national interest.

On September 4, 2013, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted on S.J. Res. 21, the Authorization for the Use of Military Force against the Government of Syria to Respond to Use of Chemical Weapons. I voted against S.J. Res. 21 because I believe a limited strike by the United States government will not advance our goal of deterring Assad from using chemical weapons and could lead to dangerous, unwanted consequences. A military response is not the only way to respond to Syria. Instead of a military response, the United States' response should be a multifaceted plan to help the Syrian people replace Assad with a moderate, secular government as I have been advocating for years now.

I continue my support of the Syrian Transition Support Act, S.960 which passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on July 24, 2013. S.960 would not only openly provide lethal assistance, but would increase non-lethal support to carefully and properly vetted opposition groups. Additionally, S.960 would place sanctions on financial institutions and individuals that have provided sale of weapons or petroleum to Assad, would create a transition fund that would assist in the transition to a moderate government and would increase humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and surrounding countries who are hosting millions of refugees. I provided a statement for the record on my on policy concerning Syria at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee which you can view here.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, I will keep your thoughts in mind as the situation in Syria continues to unfold and I will continue to work to ensure that the United States remains a safe and prosperous nation.

"OBOMBER"-----is what he is

Come on, he is what he is, an egotistical, "Uncle Tom", who serves the white filthy rich elites of the world. How's it feel now, Obama? Just think, YOU will be one of the worst tyrants the world has ever known in history, now even outdoing HITLER with all the mass killings and atrocities you have committed, along with GW Bush.

Just keep on golfing....that's all you really care about anyway. You certainly don't give a crap about American values, let alone world humane values.

Yeh, right, a Nobel "Peace" Prize winner? What a contrived award that was!

Regardless of what happens in Cloud Cuckoo Land (D.C), we have several expensive and heavily armed war ships in the Mediterranean. You don't send them there and draw them back all of a sudden without using them. They will find a way to drag us into conflict, with or without the public's consent.

Exactly, the logistics and

Exactly, the logistics and COST alone.......you dont, or shouldnt without consent FIRST, when peoples taxes are involved, do something like this, unless you plan to USE it.....and if the peoples voice should win the day, the people still lose financially

Clearly scared of not being re elected

flash: Kerry is live on MSNBC in Congress RIGHT NOW asking for War Resolution to "keep the pressure on Syria" NOTHING HAS CHANGED ALL THINGS ARE NOW AS THEY WERE THEN- I TOLD YOU SO!

Ain't over till the fat lady sings

You folks are counting your chickens but this is not over, beware.Obama's message tonight will give credit to his threat of force and he will still call for resolution to use force if Russian Plan becomes problematic. Now is not the time to think we won and ease up.McCain is still calling for tougher resolution that includes Russian Peace attempt. In my book if there's "credit" to be given out it should be given to the Pope whose massive 100k anti war vigil was almost ignored by our media, and Putin to whom the Pope appealed to find a peaceful solution. If it works out both should get a Noble Prize. For real coverage of this situation check out www.democracynow.org. They are reporting that rebels in Syria are already being trained and financed by CIA in Jordan.

Congress rules.

The spin by the media and Obama is that if he hadn't threatened the use of violence than the Syrian president wouldn't have agreed to give up the chemical weapons. This may be true, but if it hadn't been for Rand Paul and the R3volutionary movement to threaten not to support the president, by not giving him the right to use violent force, then he wouldn't have agreed or even thought of giving the Syrian president the option of handing over chemical weapons.

It's all about the 2014

Elections. It worked out perfectly for the warmongers. Now they can go back home and say they were for peace all along.

They knew we would win!

You're Right

And we really needed a historic showdown where Congress refuses to go to war, asserts itself and cuts back on Imperial Presidencies. It may have to be another day.

Delay =/= cancel

Are you saying that

Are you saying that increasing the net budget by a smaller amount than you originally intended doesn't count as a budget cut either?

What the pundits are saying...

Some DC insiders and pundits are suggesting that this vote is being delayed so that Obama and Harry Reid can be certain that the measure will pass the Senate, at which time the Obama administration will execute the strike. He will take the Senate approval as sufficient congressional consent, citing gridlock in the House and the rapidly-changing ground conditions in Syria as reasons for not being able to wait for a full debate (republican obstructionism, etc.).
If, in fact, this plays out as is being suggested, it will be very interesting to see what response the president will evoke from the media, representatives on the left/right and public opinion. The sad truth is that most Americans - ignorant of the functioning of our federal government under the Constitution - will assume that Senate approval is good enough and that anyone who complains about it is just "playing partisan politics" because they hate the president, whose only aim is to save lives... or maybe I don't give people enough credit.

Unlearning and self-teaching since 2008. Thanks, Dr. Paul!

I'd say they are either stalling for time to do more arm-

twisting, or they are are trying to save face with the "hand over CW to the UN" strategy.

Hary Cary Reid's

statements tell me that he does not have enough solid votes...too many wavering. My guess, is that the majority wants to see if OBomba's lies on Tuesday night will carry the day.

On the interview with PBS, Obomba was lying. His eyes were darting down and to the left and he had a tough time holding any eye contact at all. His body language also indicates that he is lying.

Obomba's problem is that he has been caught bluffing in a high stakes game of poker. Everyone on the planet knows he has no evidence and is lying. God himself must be laughing at such a buffoon. I relish in it.

If the vote is defeated in Congress

This may be the first time in US history something like this has happened. If it wasn't worth calling the Congress into emergency session from recess, was it really worth voting yes for? It doesn't take access to classified material to figure this out.

The fact that he went to Congress when prior presidents have never done so to launch cruise missiles is unusual. No doubt, a debate about the war powers would have emerged if he went ahead unilaterally.

Politically it was untenable from every angle, but more so because he involved Congress. It is possible that China and Russia may have put the U.S. in check with Russia pledging to support Syria through the S300 anti-aircraft weapons system and possibly direct intervention.

what about libya though?

I don't recall any vote with that. I think your on to something here. The pressure from Russia and China. Obama wanted to do a few things in my opinion by doing so.

1. For an easy out, with congress backing a strike and if anything unintended were to happen he gets to spread the wealth of blame.

2. He was trying to show that republicans are still the "war mongers". (good thing this is looking like it's backfired on him)

3. Democrats were beginning to think he was "too centrist" and unable to lead, and he hasn't been going to congress to try and get anything moving for quite a long time, barely at all really. So he was trying to show he can be a president too if he tries. Which is really showing quite the opposite.

All in all, as long as things continue in the direction they have I think we are finally starting to move out of the rut we've been in. Making way for more liberty oriented candidates to steal seats and hopefully when it comes time to evict the clown, they'll be begging for Rand. Since no one will want another bush or obama.

That's what I hope anyways xD

this is very strange--

something behind this. I was suspicious when Beck was against it--

something else going on here--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I guarantee it's at least 50%

I guarantee it's at least 50% to do with distracting everyone from the scandals without a doubt. Because so many Americans have such short attention spans they need to drag it out for as long as possible until the scandal heat dies down.

Also, take into account that whether we like it or not, obama and the presidents before him have been using threats to these middle east leaders for quite a long time. When we don't come through with our threats once the gov't instantly assumes their credibility will be gone and without the fear of bombs striking them that they will take at as an open invitation.

It's anyone's guess what they (syria/iran/ any other country the US has threatened) will do if the gov't doesn't follow through with it's threats though. Let's hope that they choose peace instead of what our gov't assumes.

What's likely going on is

What's likely going on is this isn't about chemical weapons. They want this strike for reasons they're not telling, but nobody's buying their BS so they're backing off. For now. But they'll probably be back.

What's likely going on is....

This war was started for the following reason.

Iran, Syria Finalize Agreement on New Gas Pipeline

Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline

“I have joined your revolution and I’m proud to be part of what you want to do.” - Ron Paul

Thats right on

It's the only thing that makes any sense. Russia now supplies gas to Europe, with additional reserves under their control coming from Iran/Syria, it puts them in a strategic global position on energy.

Iran has the largest gas fields on earth, Russia has the most gas reserves of any country. Connect the dots, they aren't that far apart.

this is not all a set up for something else .... terrible to take place.
like, "see, we should have sent the missiles - this is what happens when you don't do what I want to do. You should have agreed with me. Next time you better go along with me - I know what's best".

This leads me to believe

Obama is surrounded by hawks. His speechwriter and close adviser may have forced him into this position.

One guess who wrote the infamous 'red line' speech?

Reid doesn't have the votes.

The public confrontations against McCain has spooked the Senate.

My two senators said they would vote for it

Cardin and Mikulski; in the unfree state of Maryland.
