This is huge

but, the motive is to counter a Muslim rally? Damn I wish it were a "Get the f&^$ outta D.C., you A$$ raping corrupt puppet politicians" rally. strike fear in the direction it belongs.

Beep beep boop beep... I am a Paulbot... prepare for liberty and prosperity!

if this is anti-Muslim, then . . .

well, I can't support it. I understand the bikers who come to funerals to prevent crazy people from hurting the families of dead soldiers, but if these are people who are perpetuating the myth that Muslims are *our* "enemies", then--

I can't support them in any way.

I don't like motorcycles anyway. Neither of 1988vote cares for them--

they stink and make a lot of noise--

no offense to the DPers who ride them; I know some of them get good gas mileage--

but if anyone on DP is mindless enough to join a noisy mob like this, unless it's to tell the government to stop building nations--

I would lose my respect for him/her.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

No one ever said it was

No one ever said it was anti-muslim. (well maybe the media)

but yea, you should probably get back to your tea and crumpets and let the real Patriots do the dirty work...

Wouldn't want the smell and noise of protest to rattle your little paradigm.

The permit thing is such a joke. At least the bikers can say, "Im just riding my bike around in the city, I didnt even know all these other people were going to be here..."

The Permit

The permit that they were seeking was a ride-through permit that would have allowed them to just ride right through DC, in one side and out the other. No stopping at red lights, etc. To do this, cops have to assume manual control of the interrupted intersections and be on hand should an accident happen due to not having to abide the usual red lights, etc. Due to denial of the permit, the bikers will have to stop at every red light, etc. That's a lot of noise that the people of DC probably wouldn't want to have disturbing them. The purpose of the permit was to facilitate a ride that would be least inconvenient to residents there. Now there will likely be traffic jams and bikes idling everywhere. While getting a permit shows deference to the government powers-that-be, in this case it was an attempt to avoid over-intruding on local residents' right to quiet enjoyment by securing the means to get in an out in an orderly fashion.

Ok that makes more sense from a legal standpoint. From a logical standpoint that is pretty stupid to deny them and cause all that trouble and inconvenience for the residents there.
