“I feel badly, very badly for my friends in the Free Syrian Army today" ~ John McCain

Sen. John McCain (R-Ari.) said Wednesday that the rebels engaged in a civil war with Syrian president Bashar Assad feel “abandoned” by President Obama.

“I was very disappointed that the president did not mention the Free Syrian Army and our moral and material assistance for them, which is required,” McCain said on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe." “I think they do feel that they’re being abandoned.”

“I feel badly, very badly for my friends in the Free Syrian Army today,” he added.

Well Libera_me

I don't disagree with what you said about the UN libra_me, yet, we are part of the UN, and because we are part of the UN, as inept as the UN is, I still think, because we are in the UN and dealing with the UN, that it was appropriate for IObama and his administration to say Americans oppose chemical weapons.

It seems to me, this message has worked, Assad is turning over his chemical weapons, and Obama is tabling his proposal, as it's no longer applicable.

For myself, I just think, "What would I do? How would I feel?" And if this was Obama doing this to Americans, I would want there to be someway to stop it. And if Assad had not given up his chemical weapons, I would have hoped that would have been Obama's reason to get out of the UN.

The question still remains

Who is worse for the people of Syria, the rebels or Assad? Right now, both sides have their faults, and it seems to me the rebels have done some pretty atrocious things to the Christians in Syria. Have you seen the letter I posted from World magazine from the Aleppo Syrian Christian?

Yes, I saw the letter

To me, Syria was Assad's to lose, and he lost Syria when he began shooting at peaceful protesters. My being a protesters for do many decades.. it's personal.. I would be horrified if I was at a protest and the government began shooting people.

And while I understand the Church is going to side with government no matter what to stay in Syria.. I don't blame the Syrians who felt betrayed when the Church was not there for them, I do blame the Jihadists, who have come from many Islamic nations to take advantage of the civil war, and that would mean to attack Christians, after all Assad is blowing up Sunni Mosques, and I'm not saying that is a valid reason, but I can see that as an inspiration.. Church stays Summi Mosques go... Assad sure knows how to make Syrians unhappy.

As I see it then,

We should , as private citizens, give humanitarian aid to the Christians and the people of Syria through private charitable donations. Why should I 'donate' my money to a government (whether my own, or others) to turn over to those I do not support? For uses that I do not support?

I know what you mean

It's nice that you would say that you donate your money as most here would say it was forced. Foreign aid is 0.6% of the budget.

“I feel badly, very badly for my friends in the Military Industrial Complex today" ~ John McCain. lol

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Keywords here: "Material Assistance"

McCain is the most invested public figure into the Military Industrial Complex. He is pissed because he might not make a sale for his buddies. We would have been the ones to pay for it.
