We're Past Complaining About Government

I think we're past complaining about our government's corruption and ineptness. This should be obvious. I offer this short list of things people can do instead of complaining (in no particular order). Feel free to continue the list in the comment section.

1. mass civil disobedience and protesting, challenge every unjust law, never take a plea bargain
2. start non-governmental institutions, groups, and businesses to compete with and eventually replace government run institutions, especially in education, law enforcement/protection, and in judicial/arbitration
3. quit working for bad companies and start your own businesses or find good business to work for. never say "I'm just doing my job"
4. run for local and state offices, especially for sheriff, put your name and reputation on the line, become active in your community and support good candidates in the primaries
5. QUIT CALLING THE POLICE FOR HELP whenever possible, engage and organize your own communities, don't rely on government for help
6. live and think like you are free, love others, help people, help your community, build networks.
7. learn and teach about self-ownership, the non-aggression principle, non-intervention, property rights, and Austrian Economics
8. cut off your cable completely...immediately! get plugged into alternative media online.
9. Develop an emergency plan for your family to enact in any emergency situation. Imagine no power and no communications for 3 days to 2 weeks. How would you know if your family around the city/state is safe? How would you get information? Do you have any food storage? Do you have extra supplies?
10. quit asking the government to enforce your beliefs and values on other people, quit asking the government permission to do things

What would you add?

To casimirp, tdd4ron, and freeyourmind:

I use silver at my local farmer's market for organic coffee, eggs, sausage, and free range chickens.

Not one vendor has turned down Ag :)

Love it.

I love that this revolution is bringing more people towards voluntaryism.. Such a peaceful philosophy.

I turned quite a few friends towards it myself and am working on a few co-workers. I'm looking for some land in Central Fl to start my permaculture/food forest as we speak. Been collecting and growing different types of exotic trees and plants for a year now. I'm really excited about that.

I've also been thinking about setting up a thread or site dedicated to eco-villages or small communities in different areas that we could start up to get like-minded people together. The more of these types of communities get started the more mainstream it could become. If people see how voluntaryism works in person most would want to join the movement. The peaceful lifestyle sells itself..

Just an idea right now, but if anyone wanted to help out with the community idea that would be cool too :)

Minimize the holding of fiat currency, by prepping.

Every commodity bought becomes a hard asset that could be a potential stand alone currency some day soon. Prepping transforms illusionary paper into things that are real. The world is awash with dollars that is getting worse by the day. How long before this paper becomes totally debased?

Toilet paper as a long-term investment

$100 worth of toilet paper is about a five year supply for the average American, using a price from Costco and the first stat that google turned up for average usage.

Inflation being what it is, if you bought $100 worth of toilet paper now, you'd definitely come out ahead compared to keeping that $100 in the bank and only buying smaller amounts as needed over the next five years (without even taking into account the savings from a bulk purchase). Probably true for most other investments like stocks and bonds and so on.

So it's not just prepping, it's sound financial advice. Toilet paper is a better investment than almost anything else you could do with that money, thanks to inflation. And probably useful for barter when the shit hits the fan so to speak.

You might have been thinking

You might have been thinking of this when you wrote in #1 "challenge every unjust law" but I've often thought how much more "just" our society could be if all jurors understood that they have the option to judge the law not just the offender, so in other words... jury nullification.

It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. – Mark Twain

You're correct!

Absolutely! I'm a huge advocate for jury nullification. Or even just beating them out right for false allegations using their own laws against them!

Let's take over the government

Elect Rand Paul president, Ted Cruz vice president.

Let's do what they have been doing: steer the boat
of public opinion back to the principles this
country was founded upon.

It can be done. It is happening.

Even if that happened, I

Even if that happened, I don't really agree with conservatives on much, so i'll pass, but good luck.

I'm going the Agorist route where we can actually get things done at home.

That ship has sailed

I certainly won't stop you and I encourage your efforts, it's all well and good, but I'm sorry that ship has sailed for me and many of us. Obama speaks of a "red line," well ours was crossed.

Promote "Voluntaryism" aka Anarchism

Teach the idea that we can organize voluntarily, peacefully, without the use of coercion, force, or violent threats like prison.

Teach that "the government is the mafia."

Teach that "the government is violence."

Teach that "government is the exclusive use of violence."

Teach that "government proves to be bloated and inefficient in whatever it does."

Teach personal rights, every man has the same rights, no costume, hat, or title grants "special rights."

Teach that "law is AN OPINION with a gun."

Teach about "the gun in the room." The hidden violent kidnapping threat behind taxation.

Teach that "taxation is theft."

If I cut off my cable, I have no internet. How do I get plugged in online? Are DSL companies the way to go? I'm not going back to dial-up.

scawarren's picture

I think he mainly meant cable

I think he mainly meant cable television which in my area is Cox and all I use them for is the internet. In my area Cox cable is faster than AT&T's DSL.

Thank you Rob

Very good post! I think another good suggestion is to be self responsible, Identify the situation you may have put yourself into and do everything in your power to correct it. A person may find that what is left to repair might very well be minimal.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

If my need to be RIGHT is greater than my desire for TRUTH, then I will not recognize it when it arrives ~ Libertybelle

Print Small sticker pages

One Idea I use is to create pages of stickers (use sticker paper in my printer) with simple messages or questions and stick them in public view (appropriate, legal places of course) to spread the message of liberty and to get people thinking. Sort of like the "Who is John Galt?"

"why does our government tell us to fear terrorists and then demand OUR guns?"

"Who is Ron Paul?"

"Jury Nullification"

"Why does DHS need billions of bullets, tanks, and targets of women and children?"

"Responsibility is the foundation of freedom"

"Why does the Gov't demand interest and penalties on underpaid taxes yet slow to return on overpaid taxes?" And where is MY interest?

"Why are we afraid of the police if they are supposed to keep us safe?"

Don't say you're not. You're lying. We've all seen that traffic snarl on the freeway when there is a state patrolman driving 64mph and everyone slows to 62.
(I've been robbed 7 times with no police help but given huge fines for minor traffic stuff. That's why they scare me.)

"The Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE money printing entity"

Please feel free to add your own ideas.

Option 10

And i qoute from the declaration of independence paragraph 2

" But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security"

today we are wrestling with the same questions our founding fathers did, at what point has the government got to far?

im not suggesting we start an armed rebellion tomorrow but if the trend of "abuses and usurpations" continues at what point will that be to much for you to just ask nicely with your vote (which doesn't really count) or with your peaceful civil obedience, for the government to stop?

Start / join a local militia...

Rights: If you don't use em, you'll lose em.

Are you a POT or a PET - Person Embracing Tyranny?

Learn your duties as a juror

"The primary function of the independent juror is not, as many think,
to dispense punishment to fellow citizens accused of breaking various laws, but rather to protect fellow citizens from the tyrannical abuses of power by government."

The Constitution guarantees you the right to trial by jury. This means that government must bring its case before a jury of The People if government wants to deprive any person of life, liberty, or property."

Jurors can say no to government tyranny by refusing to convict."

See: www.fija.org

But more important:

than simply knowing about jury nullification is to teach others THEIR rights and responsibilities as jurors. The present legal system allows judges and prosecutors to arbitrarily dismiss any juror who admits knowledge of a jury's right (their DUTY!) to judge the law, as well as the facts of the case. The more people who understand juror's rights, the harder it will be for the government to get away with hand-picking brain-dead jurors.

And when the judge asks you whether or not you "have any reservations about accepting the law as I give it to you," be prepared to lie, if you expect to be selected for a jury.

And judging by my own experience, if you happen to be a registered Libertarian, you will NEVER be selected for a jury panel. I've been eligible for jury duty for 40 years. I've been called up for jury duty about eight times, but never once got as far as a courtroom UNTIL . . . wait for it . . . can you guess?

... until I changed my voter registration to "Republican" (to vote for Ron Paul) -- and the very next year I was selected for a jury panel. I was up for it. I was elated . . . and the prosecutor kicked me out with a peremptory challenge. Bummer. Next time I'll spend more time picking my nose and looking confused.

It's all very well to dream about getting on a jury to nullify an unjust law -- but we should all be aware that the courts are organized so that independent-minded jurors are NOT allowed on juries. Jury tampering has become institutionalized -- it's called "voir dire." Be ready for it.

Stop using US dollars

This is a huge shift in lifestyle and mentality, but if you stop using the bankers' product, then you will be at least 50% more free. So long as you make transactions in USDs, you are controlled by the Federal Reserve Bank, who is devaluing the currency by $1 trillion each year. You need to have an alternative to the dollar, which is being used to siphon power away from small business and towards big corporations. Don't even bother starting a small business if you are going to do it in US Dollars. The game is rigged against you (see 'Obamacare' and also know that Fed injected money takes 2 years to flow into the economy as inflation, so the money being printed now in 2013 will kick in as higher prices in 2015. This has been a rolling inflation affect since the bailouts. Also, when the BRICS' rejection of the dollar kicks in, we will see even greater acceleration of inflation). See John Williams' Shadowstats.com if you do not understand what real inflation is.

Start barter groups or simply go back to using agreements of credit to each other on paper contracts, but only deal with honest people. For example, I'll trade 20 bags of wheat for 5 medical services to your family, Signed ________ and Signed ________ , Witnessed by _______ Date _________. Or start notes that can be used like currency (The Berkshire, Mass. mountain region had something like this called Berkshares).

Another way to stop using dollars is to leave the USA and deal in another currency. Like a John Gault strike. Every dollar you put in a bank becomes 10-40 (legally $10, but thru the modern miracle of derivatives, banks can leverage up to like 40 to 1) dollars for the bank to redistribute to its own ends. However, be aware that all currencies are paper and this strategy is more a disapproval of US politics than safety from some other country's currency policies, which are potentially just as corrupt. I would also suggest that every dollar you put into the bank goes towards funding both sides of wars around the world, as well as known drug trafficking by banks, so there is a moral imperative to stop using the banks' product.

A new Bretton Woods is on the way in the next few years, and judging by massive gold flows from West to East, the terms of the new currencies will be determined by China, not the USA. Don't get screwed by being stuck in US dollars. The financial culprits in Washington DC and Wall St will never own up to their ineptitude, and may well take us to war before they are put in their proper place by a new financial system. Don't get caught with all your wealth in dollars.

'control a country's currency and care not about its laws'

Good luck on that..... Stop

Good luck on that..... Stop using dollars... LOL Can't be done until someone can compete... Way to limit not to use the dollar...

Use Gold, Silver other PMs, Bitcoin and other CryptoCurrencies

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. ~Thomas Paine
