Assad tells Obama to stop arming rebels, or no deal

President Obama must promise not to arm rebel forces or Syrian dictator Bashar Assad will not hand over his chemical weapons, the embattled leader told a Russian state media outlet today while demanding that Israel also surrender its nuclear arsenal.

“When we see that the U.S. genuinely stands for stability in our region, stops threatening us with military intervention and stops supplying terrorists with weapons, then we will consider it possible to finalize all necessary procedures and they will become legitimate and acceptable for Syria," Assad told RIA News.

Obama asked Congress to postpone a vote authorizing use of military force in Syria after Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to broker a deal whereby the U.S. would not attack the Assad regime if he surrendered his chemical weapons.

Good for Assad. Why are we

Good for Assad. Why are we aiding "rebels" (which I use very loosely - more likely CIA Al Qaeda forces we planted) in another country, which is apparently slaughtering Christians?

Boy oh Boy

The world is getting brazen.

They see America as weak and they are right.

Thanks

Obama administration by arming terrorists who slaughter Christians and others should be removed from power.

seeing those little kids

beheaded by the rebels was heartbreaking. To imagine being a little kid and having to go through that, hits me in the heart.

my friend

Sadly is happens all over Syria every day.
At rebel checkpoints if you are unable to recite the Quran you are executed.

Assad Is Witness To A Crime

Because the "rebels" are provably terrorists, and many are members of designated terrorist groups (al-Qaeda, al-Nusra Front, al-Furqan Brigades), the support that our government has provided is a criminal act punishable by life in prison according to US law (18 USC § 2339).

"Whoever knowingly provides material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 15 years, or both, and, if the death of any person results, shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life."

Obama, Kerry, McCain, and Graham may have committed criminal violations of US law by supporting the Syrian rebels. Spread the word.

Syrian DICTATOR Bashar Assad

Does anyone here have any idea how and why the massive protests started against Assad?

I'll level with you, I have protested many times over the decades, and have a lot of experience with public events.. When Clinton was in office I was in a protest that got out of hand, people began setting public trash cans on fire, rolled a police car, breaking windows.. crowd gets very weird.. some people ran, some people were stuck (getting their barings, looking for someone, getting the camera out), some people want to be in the middle of the action, and there's always police action when that happens, and the truth is, when you coordnate a public event, the last thing you want is for it to get out of countrol. There's a lot to be said for nice boring protests by comparison to crowd violence.

Syria had protests that were MASSIVE against Assad, and they were PEACEFUL.. it is impressive to see so many people peacefully protesting for months. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFTNGoQyKUo

Assad would rather sacrifice Syrians than change, and now this, is a form of blackmail.

This is for the...

Syrians to decide. We do not live there. We have no real idea what is going on in Syria, as you said yourself. What we do know, is that the rebels have a lot of fighters that are either affiliated with or directly connected to al qaeda. America picks and chooses. Will let people get slaughtered in this country, wont in this other one. All about control and politics. Until the motive is pure, I don't condone sending any of our money or aid to these countries. (Especially when we are trillions in debt) Also any Syrian citizen who can't bear to live in Syria any longer is welcome to come on over to the US and live here. (We are not being massacred....yet.)

For God's sake granger

Can you go away and stop spreading your drivel.
Should this report of Assad's demands on Israel be factual, there's no doubt it will be back to a call for immediate missile strikes, and with a renewed vigor.
Will you be happy when there's another million innocent civillians dead, and the country that supports you involved in another war.
I'm so tired of seeing your idiotic, misinformed, illiterate posts everywhere, spreading division and dissent.

factual

Assad is trying to drag Israel into his war..

Maybe you should read this.. go to the part about Syria, and check out how many people have been killed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Spring

If I may make a suggestion, by not posting to my posts, I promise I won't respond to your posts, and you can spare yourself the agony of reading my posts. I promise.

Calling out hypocracy is not blackmail .

And the protests started like all the other Arab Spring protests - our CIA put CIAlqueda community organizers in place to rile up the people. The government used excessive force, more people got riled up, we through gas on the fire - and wallah - you have another civil war.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

My problem with this entire line of thinking is simple - what is so different here at home in the great bastion of freedom called the USA.

Do we not see cops using excessive force everyday in this country? Why is that different?
Didn't cops in THIS country brutally crack down on OWS??
There are claims there are political prisoners being arrested and tortured.
Well, isn't that happening here? Remind me again -is Guantanamo still open, what happened to Manning, how many "freak" accidents of reporters who dare to print things?
Their economy is strangled by the ruling class while the people suffer.
Yeh- sounds about the same here.

And the bottom line is this - WE - the USA are the largest producer and user of ALL kinds of weapons. Plain and simple.

If people in this country had any balls we would protest too - and guess what - Obama would send the National Guard to crack down and brutally end the protests too. If you don't think so you live in fantasy land.

Spot on R-Hal

as it is.

But they didn't start like ALL Arab Spring protests.. what are the Arab Spring protests?

This is from wiki:

The 15 October 2011 global protests and the Occupy Wall Street movement, which started in the United States and has since spread to Asia and Europe, drew direct inspiration from the Arab Spring, with organizers asking U.S. citizens "Are you ready for a Tahrir moment?"[308] The protesters have committed to using the "revolutionary Arab Spring tactic" to achieve their goals of curbing corporate power and control in Western governments.[309]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Spring

If you look at the wiki link you will find the amount of deaths related to each protested/overthrown and threatened government.. you may be surprized to see how few have been killed in Arab and Afriacan nations by comparison to what Assad is doing to Syrians.

The last part of your post.. this is why president Obama did the right thing by protesting Assad.. because Obama has far more lethal capabilites than Assad, and I do not want an Arab Spring in America.. I'd rather join the GOP and try to restore the constitution than see America look like After the Arab Spring blood baths.

Are the rebels

killing Christians? Assad may need to go but should the US be standing with and arming the rebels? I'm thinking the rebels are not our friends. I think if the rebels come to power things will be worse not better but maybe that's the reason for the Obama's war.

What "gets" me about this situation

When these protests started, and Assad began shooting protesters and esculated a civil war.. the protests were for democracy.. that has changed.. at least in MSM.. and now the focus on the protesters are not the original protesters, but the mercenaies and jihadists that have "joined" the civil war for their own agenda. and that agenda has become the issue.. I just watched Rand and The Judge both focus on the opportunists and not the original protesters, who were asking for help two years ago.

I came across this article while doing some research about Jordan, and it has what King Abdullah has to say about Assad.. I think it's telling how this conflict is being twisted into something other than what it was http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/04/monarch-...

It says...

right in the top... "the region's most pro-American Arab leader." I believe that might influence his views a little, don't you think?

I think

It's an interesting view worth reading for another perspective on the issue. I found it educational.

It's for the teenagers.

Think of the Internet age teens.

We don't want to put AR-15s in their hands to fight because their parents are all dead.

This is the brightest internet savvy generation and the hope for the future.

Exactly. How is arming "rebels" not an act of war?

?

"demanding that Israel also surrender its nuclear arsenal."

Assuming he did in fact say that, and stands by it..
Then it will be obombya 'game on' again.
