What's Putin's REAL EndGame in Syria? Is It really All about the "Stans" / Reassertion of USSR-era Sphere of Influence?

Are we simply watching two has-been super-powers trying to redefine themselves, before a small audience of former satellite states, and what gains US has made behind Russia own backyard?

Caspian Report seems to think so:

Why does Russia support Syria's Al-Assad?

For months now Russia has been the main defender of Al-Assad. The country has put its international reputation at stake, and all this for Syria. So what drives Russia to confront the US. Why does Moscow care about Syria or Al-Assad? Well the truth is they really dont. Russia has no particular interests for Syria, and they dont care much for Al Assad either. The Russian naval facility in Syria and the weapons exports are only symbolic interests. In this report we explain how Putin's interests in Syria are indirectly related to Russia's backyard project - the Eurasian Union.

So what? We try to encircle and isolate Russia....

and that is "good" and Russia resists and tries to protect its own interests by its relations with "buffer states" and that is "bad"?

Sounds like the "John McCain/Lindsey Graham" school of thought. The US backed down over North Korea and Syria because our unholy alliances with Great Britain, the EU (NATO)and, particularly, Israel, have made us the most hated country in the world. George W. Bush adopted Israel's cowardly "pre-emptive war" doctrine, openly embraces torture, refuses to honor our international treaties to either extradite our punish our convicted war criminals, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld and either attacks or threatens any country which either does not have an IMF central bank or gets in the way of the Zionist psychopaths agitating through bribery, blackmail or intimidation for a "Greater Israel".

I trust Putin

about as much as I trust Obama, then again they could be on the same team in my opinion. Trust no one in my opinion who knows what kind of games they play with us. How can they achieve their NWO without Russia in their pocket? Even if Putin is not on their side, they will manipulate his maneuvers accordingly so it fits their plans.
