Rep. Mica of Florida against Syrian interventionSubmitted by UCFLibertarian on Tue, 09/17/2013 - 10:42
I sent my Representative from Florida my input on the Syrian war and here is his response:
Thank you again for contacting me to share your concerns with the ongoing situation in Syria. I wanted follow up with you and let you know of my decision on that important matter.
After participating in briefings with Administration officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey and other various officials, and after hearing President Obama's address on this matter, I have made a decision not to support legislation pending in Congress authorizing military action against Syria.
Weighing carefully both the security of the United States and the strong convictions expressed by you and other constituents, I will vote accordingly.
Please know that, once again, I appreciate hearing from you. Your comments were significant in helping me make this decision."
Good job Rep. Mica!
