The Misled Shepherd

The sheep were grazing in their daily peace
But the wolf always watched, waiting for his release

For years his hounds would keep evil at bay
Ever close to the sheep, the guardians would stay

The shepherd would visit a man from deep in the city
Who spoke bad about his dogs and sounded so sensibly

So one day the shepherd had sent all his dogs home
"Those mutts scare me" he began to drone

So it was only the shepherd that the sheep did trust
For protection against the wolf's bloodlust

But they day finally came, the shepherd was asleep
The dogs ran from the house but they were soundly beat

The wolf had come and devoured his kill
For the shepherd had betrayed his wisdom for some mindless shill

Oh how the shepherd cursed and cried
And denounced the city man for he had lied

But the city folk are clever
And told the shepherd that he indeed knew better

For the city folk dont know wolf from hound
And anything with fangs certainly cant be around

So the shepherd sighed and sent away his canine guardians
Having confused anything with teeth as barbarians

But then the wolf returned and it was a total loss
And the shepherd became enraged thinking he was double crossed

So this time the shepherd went spy on the city man
but to his horror saw him sitting with the wolf, sharing his lamb.

The schitzophrenic shepherd

Who kills his flock for fear that they will be out of his control.

Very well done,thank you

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Priceless wisdom, personally and collectively.

Can't speak for anyone else but, I had to learn that lesson the hard way.

My advice for whatever it's worth: Trust your gut instinct, no matter who tries to make you change course.

it is spelled "shepherd."

Unless you're referring to the astronaut named Alan.

Haha good catch. Fixed now.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.
