I really wanted to see Tebow play.

(This was originally posted as a comment, but it turned into such an epic rant, I thought I'd make it a topic of its own. What the hell.)

I recently re-upped on cable.

This is an interesting development for me, because I am so anti-TV. But there is one thing that I want to watch play out here, this year. And that is the career of Tom Brady and his karmic relationship with Bill Belichick and the Krafts.

I smell a classic Shakespearian tragedy brewing.

This man - Tom Brady - is a superstar in our midst. Won the Superbowl with Belichick three times. But that is getting to be a long time ago.

And lest we forget, they also lost a couple together.

That makes them 3-2. Brady's hero, Montana, was 4-0 in the Superbowl. So maybe Brady can't go 4-0 like his hero, but maybe he can at least win 4. And a fifth would give him most Superbowl wins for a quarterback every.

But you have to figure Brady is getting frustrated with all this personnel BS. Can the Patriots just hire guys who get the job done? I suppose if murder here weren't illegal, Hernandez would still be playing.

What a tragedy. The kid just signed a $40 million contract, and it turns out he might have killed 3 guys here while he was on the team.

What a fascinating drama, and twist of the Justice system. Right after the Whitey Bulger trial wrapped up here, too. Makes your head spin. But it is still all playing out. Just like clockwork, pushing the plot along. Relentlessly.

Meanwhile, Brady just wants someone - ANYONE - who can catch the damn ball. Currently, it is thrown to them, but they can't catch it. They're new. They don't quite get the system yet. Not their fault, really. The question is - why do the Pats have so many freaking newbies on the team?

From season to season, aside from Brady and Belichick, there is no continuity to this football team. There is no opportunity for the team gel and grow together into the dominant powerhouse that it could be.

WHAT IS WITH THE REVOLVING DOOR AROUND BRADY? It is almost like a tornado. What is the problem? Is it Brady? Is it Bill? Or is it the owners, the pink-tie-wearing Krafts?

Certainly, the fault has to go back to Belichick, for this crappy personnel decisions. He is the coach and the GM. Why is Welker gone? Why is Woodhead gone? Why are all those other great players gone? Why's half the team injured? Why this whole crappy offense, surrounding this golden jewel known as Brady.

Hey, Patriots! Snap out of the budget-consciousness. Spend some money! Do you have any idea what it will mean for business if you can win a couple more Bowls?

Get Brady another Randy Moss! Get him a Jerry Rice! Get him a Steve Largent! Get freaking Wes Welker back. Of course that is impossible. And so as fans, were stuck, watching a brilliant quarterback on a mediocre team.

But before we go...What the hell did you bring Tebow in for? What was going on there? Just a big F-U to the Jets? Political bullshit?

Seriously. I wanted to see Tebow play!

No one thought he would ever challenge Brady's spot. The idea was preposterous. Everyone knew it.

We've already got a quarterback, thanks. Where are you going to play, Tebow?

I WANTED TO SEE YOU PLAY! YOU WERE BEAUTIFUL WITH THE BRONCOS. You had the gift. I want to see if you've still got it, or if it is just on loan. Are you truly inspired, or was that little run with the Broncos just a fluke?

After the murder charge, I wanted to see Tebow take Hernandez's spot. Take one for the team. Take one for redemption. Let the beautiful Christian take the place of the murderer. Let him demonstrate his belief in action, if only symbolically. Let us see him sacrifice his life-long dream to be a Quarterback in the NFL.

Let us see him die, in order to be reborn again.

(But that wouldn't be nice, or fair.) (Or of any use at all.)(Yes it would)

As a media creation, I have no idea who or what Tim Tebow is. If this were a reality show? If this were the Truman Show? What role would he play? How would he serve to advance the plot?

That is what I'm interested in.

Tim Tebow, for whatever reason, unites a lot of people. I was looking forward to watching him stand on the sidelines this season. And a little piece of that died when the Pats cut him. And another little piece of that died with the Welker trade. And the Woodhead loss. And signing Amandola, or however you spell his name, this lesser-Welker.

How could Management do that to Brady? This is the Michael Jordan of Football that we're talking about.

Or maybe he's not. Maybe No 18 of the Broncos, Peyton Manning, has taken his place. The Broncos got Welker. He wanted out. OUT of Boston. Belichick tweaked him, and he didn't like it.

But the Broncos (apparently) have a better understanding of what it takes, as an organization, to win. They are dominant this year. Like the Pats of years past. Flying high. On a roll. Unstoppable. A pleasure to watch.

The Cowboys suck again, as usual.

Seattle is a beautiful surprise. The way they pummeled SF on Sunday night. Wow. That was unexpected. And refreshing. After so many years out in the desert, they're finally good again, and look like they will be, for a while.

I love Wilson at QB. Not such a big fan of Pete Carroll, the coach, however. I find his mere presence annoying. Maybe that's just because he was the head coach before Belichick here in New England.

So Tim! You've got an opportunity here. Obviously you're athletic. OBVIOUSLY YOU COULD PLAY TIGHT END! Obviously the Pats need your help. Obviously you can sacrifice yourself. (For the PATRIOTS, no less. Take one for the team. Take one for your country. We need ya man!) Obviously, you will experience His pain at the end.

- - - - -

Speaking of which, how do you imagine the end was for Him? Was it terrible? Or had He already found peace?

One book that had me in tears - I finished it up on an Egypt Air flight from Cairo to Greece. I was so disoriented. It was so many countries, and so many cultures until that point. Germany, Amsterdam, France, Spain, - No Portugal on that trip - Greece, Egypt, Israel.

It was crazy. And Egypt was so different. It felt like a last straw. And it was, of sorts. That is where I realized that every day is a new day. And every day, you are a new person. But most times, you're way too distracted to notice it. But it is true.

Your dream would have to die, in order for you to live again. It is the same for all of us.

Let the dead bury the dead. Die to be born again.

Thank you Sir, eyes wide open

Thank you for catching my interest with this Sir. You managed to take football and somehow turn it into a human interest issue with a slightly political background. Much appreciated and I digress, lol.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Good writing Michael

Some serious mixing of metaphors but good post Michael!

Drunk posting on the Daily Paul

Please excuse me. It happens to the best of us ;)

By the end of that rant, I couldn't even type straight. When that starts happening, you're better off calling it quits.

I went through and corrected the more egregious typos and non sequiturs.

And I still stand by my main point: I want to see Tebow play!

I've got a deeper theory on him as well, as the symbol of the Millennial Generation. But I probably won't type that up until the next time I get blasted, lol.

I know it is not the standard fare in terms of material you see here on the DP. But I know that we're all much deeper than the limited amounts we share here.

The DP is just the tip of the iceberg.

I usually read...

about half way through a comment like this, then quickly scroll to the comment section to find the bottom line..but this bottom line kicker was truly funny ;-)
edit after finishing post: thought provoking in the end.

Can't wait to see what you post after

I send you two a bottle of wine. Lol

Looks like there's about three gallons after filtering out the pulp, so in a month or so, I may have to commit modicide and ban myself for a night or two. I'll email you and let you know when I can come back. Lol

Ha ha ha

Thanks Mike!

Tebow is the microcosm of America

If you bow to a god and not the government - you will be run over.

The idea that Tebow cannot find a team is ludicrous. In 2011 he went 7-4 for a Broncos team that started 1-4 under another QB. That is pretty damn good for being named starter after 5 games. He got them into the playoffs and they won their first playoff game.

So the Broncos have a shot at Manning - and they trade Tebow away to the Jets - whos QB is horrible. He gets hurt and instead of holding him and letting him start the next season they release him. Anybody that does not think this was purely due to his religious conviction and playing in NYC is crazy.

QB's are very hard to come by in the nfl - look at how many are just bad - and you have a guy like this and he can't even find backup work - come on people - clearly this is about more than football.

You may want to look at some of his other beliefs:

Home schooled
Anti-abortion(as dr's had recommended his mother abort due to major complications with her pregnancy with Tim)
Deeply religious

We simply cannot have THIS guy becoming a role model for our youth.

Tebow's main problem

Is that he can't throw.

And he refuses to switch positions.

So whatareyagonnado?

Man - what can I say to that, Mike?

Enjoy him. He is one tough cookie.

The Broncos look dominant this year. Enjoy it man.

Coming into Monday night's game, both myself and my opponent had 1 player left on each fantasy team to play. I had Moreno on my R3VOLutionaries and my opponent "Dallas Swag" had Welker. I was down by 6 points and needed Moreno to close the gap... it didn't happen...

Oh Welker... it's a love/hate relationship...

I should have started Jamaal Charles... haha

Brady is as ethical as a bad politician and so is Belechick.

Tuck rule and the fumble. Yes Brady lied and still does about the controversial play. So Raiders win!

Belechick hiring spies is as honest as the NSA.

Not sure why you reposted this lame post Michael? I don't fully understand. As far as news, Tebow vs. WWIII ? Hmmmm.
Is this a gag?
Well if you had too........

(I'm not of a Gator fan either, so Tebow... Whatever.)

Michael Nystrom's picture

That was all before my time here.

In fact, I was happy when the Pats lost in the Superbowl in 2007. Then, in the first game of the 2008 season, Brady got injured, and he was out for the whole season. Broke his leg.

I only became a fan in 2009, watching Brady's comeback. It was awesome. He showed that he had it. IT. Guts, courage, skill, dedication, excellence. All of that. You don't see that often. But when you do, it is something to appreciate.

Why did I repost this? Consider it comic relief from all the worrying about WWIII.

He's the man.

The forum moderators, and especially the owner

does not appreciate football stuff here.

Thanks for trying though, troll.

Ha hahhaaahaaaa!

Mr. Nystrom is indeed the ultimate troll of the Daily Paul. He is trying his best:)

Thanks Michael, for your football article. Tebow could indeed play TE this season for the Pats. I think that would be very interesting. Then for next year he could find a new team to play QB unless if he would become a super star as a TE catching over 1,500 yards and let's say 10 TDs this season, then he could continue as TE and Brady's favorite target leading Pats to Super Bowl. There would be Brady-Tebow connection frenzy and this connection would be called not 'Tomboy', but 'TomBow'. The future headline of the Globe: "TomBow lead Pats to Super Bowl with incredible Hail Mary connection!"

I was also very surprise how easily the Hawks won the 49ers. I was sad for that, but I know you are Pats&Hawks fan. Kaepernick was completely lost in that game. I was expecting much more from him, but then again it was not only him, but the Hawks secondary was playing very well and also 49ers offensive line was not at good for giving Kaepernick time and 49ers rushing game was as well horrible.

Michael Nystrom's picture

So there is more drama

Was Kaepernick just a flash in the pan?

For that matter, was RGIII? He's doing terribly this year.

But Kaepernick is the only 49er quarterback ever to lose a Superbowl...

Lots of drama this year in the NFL.

I wonder if having cable again will suck me back into being a couch potato. So far it hasn't. I only turn the TV on on Sundays.

He's the man.

got a crappy deal imo.

Hopefully he can get on a team like the Browns and get back to where he could make a difference.

A team like the Vikings, Steelers, Browns, and Jaguars would be good imo.
