World's top climate scientists told to 'cover up' the fact that the Earth's temperature hasn't risen for the last 15 years

Scientists working on the most authoritative study on climate change were urged to cover up the fact that the world’s temperature hasn’t risen for the last 15 years, it is claimed.
A leaked copy of a United Nations report, compiled by hundreds of scientists, shows politicians in Belgium, Germany, Hungary and the United States raised concerns about the final draft.
Published next week, it is expected to address the fact that 1998 was the hottest year on record and world temperatures have not yet exceeded it, which scientists have so far struggled to explain.
The report is the result of six years’ work by UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is seen as the world authority on the extent of climate change and what is causing it – on which governments including Britain’s base their green policies.

Which is it?

from reading the article I was unclear.

Are they saying that 1998 was the warmest year?

Or are they saying the "rate" of warming has slowed which means things have gotten warmer at a slower rate since then?

Both can't be right.

Global warming religion is petering out

This is all about control, setting up carbon taxes for the government to suck outlandish amounts of money from the economy, and setting up carbon tax trading for banksters to suck outlandish amounts of money from the economy. These powers-that-be are trying to enlist zealots as their foot soldiers using carrot and stick, but smart people are skeptical and prevent actually passing these crooked schemes to "regulate" carbon for profit.

They have an army of passionate self-hating/human-hating extremists well paid to proselytize about non-existent threats and cook data to adjust down older temp measurements and adjust up newer temp measurements. As their computers get more powerful, the models used to back-calculate and after-cast the weather fail more dramatically, getting worse at any predictions, so now they simply make up speculative numbers and extrapolate damage based on the made up numbers, since there aren't any credible actual predictions of temperatures for the rest of the century.

I wonder how much money has

I wonder how much money has been wasted on climate change. Even recycling can be more expensive than just producing from scratch. I mean just consider all of that money and time wasted away on something that we really don't have much control over. Or better yet, imagine if all of that money had been spent creating new companies that could have created new technologies that the public actually demanded to lower the pollution levels. We are talking of trillions upon trillions of dollars dumped into a big endless pit; sounds like Keynesian Economics hard at work.

Probably in the hundreds of billions for the pen pushers ALONE

For the bureaucrats alone, I am pretty sure it's in the ballpark of hundreds of billions, if not in the trillion $FRN already.

I have heard talks, fearmongering and speculations about it for as long as I can remember back to my highschool years, 30 years ago, with essays to be done about it, etc.

A global, worldwide brainwash, if you ask me.

Involving the gullible youths as early as possible, of course.

Just because there hasn't been (apparently) the warming increase

recently doesn't mean there isn't significant (and scary) stuff
going on. Nor that human activities aren't influencing what's going on.

For instance, it's pretty clear that acidification of the oceans is occurring
on a significant scale - with potentially catastrophic effects on ocean ecology,
food chains & such:

It's also become a lot more clearly understood that while there are long
term cycles that have been fairly regular over scales of tens or hundreds
of thousands of years, it's also become more clearly established that significant
change can occur over centuries, decades or possibly even shorter time frames
once a triggering point is reached.

As kellyicus and others have posted, sudden cooling events have often occurred following
periods of warming - especially in the North Atlantic region (see Younger Dryas and
Heinrich Events)

Good explanation of that and much else in this article:

"Until a few decades ago it was generally thought that all large-scale global and regional climate changes occurred gradually over a timescale of many centuries or millennia, scarcely perceptible during a human lifetime. The tendency of climate to change relatively suddenly has been one of the most suprising outcomes of the study of earth history, specifically the last 150,000 years (e.g., Taylor et al., 1993). Some and possibly most large climate changes (involving, for example, a regional change in mean annual temperature of several degrees celsius) occurred at most on a timescale of a few centuries, sometimes decades, and perhaps even just a few years..."

Bwahahahaha. So much for the "information and technology age" :

1) bureaucrats dictating what scientists (you know, those who supposedly : know, observe, model, and verify) can or cannot publish... But, wait ! There is more !

... And better yet ! LMAO :

2) scientists appointed and/or funded by the same governments and corporations who would benefit from a specific side of conclusion !

What a F U CKING joke of a world we live in.

People of 2,000 years ago were more consistent and wiser than we are.

Here is the true age we live in :

We have the capacity for reason

So we are the only species that knows it is capable of destroying the planet. Any other species without this knowledge would have wiped out even more species than the homo sapien. We are at a turning point on whether or not we want to protect our environment in a reasonable manner. (I am not talking about ridiculous carbon taxes and so forth).

What I am saying is that go back to TDR (a Republican), and he, even, was very concerned about the protection of the nation's wildlife and parklands. Today, you would think if we dropped a giant atomic bomb in the middle of the country, there would bo fallout, because we can do no harm to the environment.

Apologists for this human activity are in massive denial. One year of weather changes is not the same as climate change. The climate changes over long stretches of time. Storms are becoming devastatingly powerful. New Orleans, an entire American city, was wiped out by a massive hurricane. Colorado has suffered massive flooding. Tornadoes devastated Oklahoma.

By the 1950s, bed bug parasites were nearly wiped out by DDT pesticide in the United States. They were completely gone. With rising co2 levels in inner cities, and the ban of DDT because it was destroying entire species of birds and plant life, there has been a massive resurgence of parasites in inner-city dwellings. These parasites thrive on high carbon dioxide levels.

There is no denying change is afoot, and it is likely irreversible. The models show that even if all CO2 activity ceased (an impossibility), the damage will be done by 2050 and irreversible. No carbon tax, nothing will stop the ice sheaths from melting and the sea levels from rising. It will happen, but because its a CLIMATE change, its going to take 50 years. It took a hundred years of smog and unfiltered emissions to begin to start the change. The effect is similar to green house gas planets we see as the likes on Venus and other distant planets where methane and carbon dioxide prevent any form of life due to the extreme heat.

By the end of our lifetimes we will see the scorched land and air conditioning will probably be mandatory all the time. Of course the power brokers want to make profits from the problem; they will be spared its inconvenience in their ivory towers.

What were...

....storms like ten million years ago? Or were there no storms at that time?

No Down Trend

Is not the same thing as trending upwards like was predicted for 15 years. just because its not shooting down doesn't mean it will shoot up. id say the trend were seeing was predicted by actual science pertaining to the effect of ocean currents and temperatures for decades, and in the next decade i would expect the temperature to actually decrease significantly in the northern hemisphere given the effect of fresh water infusion from polar ice caps destabilizing the thermolhaline circulation (google it) in the Atlantic and pacific oceans.

No idea what you are talking about

That is, you have no idea what you are talking about.

"Fresh water infusion, ice caps destabilizing, thermolhaline circulation."

Just because you can google something does not mean you understand science, or a system like the earth's climate. Your references are like quoting astrologists. You have no idea - but I guess you believe.

"Climatologists" are the witch doctors of modern science - guessing at whether random observations are causes or effects without knowing which and without understanding the climate as a whole.

They however are not the biggest fools, because at least they are trying to understand - committing science. No, you are the fool, because you take the guesses and suppositions and regurgitate them as "knowledge".

The era of the independent

The era of the independent scientist ended before the 1930s. Today's policy driving science is sponsored by government, foundations, and major corporations allied with government. In other words they are state intellectuals. The modern priest class that tells us why we should obey our rulers and why we must obey them.

Do they really do anything different than the priests who told us if we obeyed our rulers and sacrificed our wealth to them the spring rains would come? The snake go wouldn't eat the sun?

Human nature hasn't really changed much.

Not so fast

Here are some charts from NASA:

I look at this like a stock chart. Ok, there may have been a pause for the past year or two, but there is no downtrend.

at least not yet, anyway. If this were a chart for silver price, I would still be buying, or at least holding.

anyone who looked at nasa's graph see that sudden drop in temp at the end of ww2? a curious anomoly. one would think with the massive world wide war, war production and machines burning diesel all day long it should of gone up.

From a press release from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works:

"Retired senior NASA atmospheric scientist, Dr. John S. Theon, the former supervisor of James Hansen, NASA's vocal man-made global warming fear soothsayer, has now publicly declared himself a skeptic and declared that Hansen "embarrassed NASA" with his alarming climate claims and said Hansen was "was never muzzled." Theon joins the rapidly growing ranks of international scientists abandoning the promotion of man-made global warming fears."

Read the NASA data

It rebukes the article from the OP entirely.

I read it Josh. And I’ve read many, many papers presenting statistically twiddled data that concludes anthropogenic warming, now climate change. I’m not gonna get in a back-and-forth with you on the minutiae of warming dogma because it‘s a circular and fruitless endeavor. But I will refute, nay rebuke, the continued agitprop of “the sky is falling” to hustle my right to life, liberty and property.

our star?

Note to scientists... the sun might be an interesting subject to look at, since it's our real energy source.

Ice age on the way?

Global cooling is a much worse situation for the world than global warming. With global cooling food production falls due to less available land for crops.

80,000 years of cooling coming up

They warned us about gobal cooling

in the mid 70's during Carter. As I live in southern California, I remember thinking about buying a heavy coat.

The Fifth Estate is getting the word out.

Hundreds of billions have already been pissed down the money hole on this scam.

yup: would you believe the 'scientists' got 36 out of 38

computer models ALL WRONG?

LOL. Talk about a failure rate!

gee...the wonders of building computer models/algorithms based on erroneous a-priori presumptions... Quackademic wonders, would they ever cease?
