Lindsey Graham, Facts - InfoGraphic

UPDATE 09/21/2013 at 9:14am EST: A veteran wrote to me this morning via SmArgus and requested I clarify the title from "veteran" to the more accurate "war veteran" as this is the claim Senator Graham specifically makes regarding Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

As such, if you are still seeing the old version, please clear your cache.

And thank you again for sharing. :)

Hola, fellow Daily Paulers, after last night's radio show I began researching whether Lindsey Graham actually served as a veteran since he seems to have a fetish for sending Americans off to die in aggressive foreign wars. As such, upon compiling a set of rather disgusting facts about the man, it seemed appropriate to design an infographic detailing his various injuries against the Natural Liberty of humanity.

Hope you enjoy. :)

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

I sent this to his DC office

Thank you Allison Bricker

For having the intestinal fortitude to post this. Everybody in SC should know what a statist Lindsey Graham is, and his chicken-hawk status.

"Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." ~~C.S. Lewis
Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

This is a lie and childish character assasination

Your info is wrong (see his bio below).

The fact that Graham would send US citizens to war in a country that neither wants our intervention nor deserves it makes him an enemy of liberty whether he has served in combat or not.

I reject the argument that "if you served" you can commit US dollars and soldiers to a war, but if not you are a chickenhawk. If and when war is required any qualified person can make the decision (combat vet or not).

Graham needs to be thrown out for many of the reasons you list (including his blood thirsty illegal war position) and more, but this stupid appeal to your false accusation discredits you and your argument.

""Prior to his service in the House, Graham compiled a distinguished record in the United States Air Force as he logged six-and-a-half years of service on active duty as an Air Force lawyer. From 1984-1988, he was assigned overseas and served at Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany.

Upon leaving active duty Air Force in 1989, Graham joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he served until 1995. During the first Gulf War in the early 90’s, Graham was called to active duty and served state-side at McEntire Air National Guard Base as Staff Judge Advocate where he prepared members for deployment to the Gulf region.

Graham continues to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and is one of only two U.S. Senators currently serving in the Guard or Reserves. He is a colonel and is assigned as a Senior Instructor at the Air Force JAG School. ""

a lawyer who never saw combat is a combat vet,if being during a time of war?

Let it ever not be said, that I never did not do nothing for you.

Every Claim is Verified By a Source

Every claim made in the graphic is supported by either a primary source document or public news reports/Congressional Record.

Specifically his lie about his service occurred in 1998 when he attempted to state he was a combat veteran on his website. The Hill called him out for the obvious dishonest statement, and he subsequently scrubbed the page thus changing the lie to a more accurate statement.

Nevertheless, the man was and remains a liar.

Thanks for playing.

You obviously did not know the difference

Of all the problems with Lindsey Graham, you headline your little graphic with quibbling about the use of veteran vs combat or war veteran - terms you did not understand yourself.

As stated, his military service has little to nothing to do with whether he has a right to represent SC. Your attack on that point makes you sound stupid. Obviously this guy has served his country, that is not the problem, his problem is his backward way of thinking about the liberty of the individual.

You would be better served to focus on that and take your "Not a Combat Veteran" crap over to Red State.

you are absolutely wrong in this

There is a HUGE difference between combat veteran and veteran.

Frankly it is nauseating in this country that we lump all who served in as veterans - that is horse crap. There is no way to compare a combat veteran to some air force desk jockey sitting back in some office in some southern state. It is not only an insult to combat veterans - it is nothing more than fluffing - and sorry - but it says a LOT about a person's character.

Just ask our dear senator from CT - mr - "I am a bullshit lier that implied I served in Vietnam all the while using my connections to stay stateside and disgrace real Marines everywhere" - Blumenthal.

That backwards way of thinking about liberty starts with narcissism - and that starts with actually believing serving in the Air Force comes anywhere close to being horse shit on the bottom of a combat veterans boots.

Sorry we will have to agree to disagree. My Grandfather and father were veterans by common definition, i.e. they actually served in war zones. A veteran contacted me this morning explained the difference, which still makes Senator Graham a liar and in my opinion in no position to so eagerly send men and women to die in combat.

Further, that there is this muddled distinction between those who stay stateside like lawyers and drone pilots and the poor folks sent to the front lines does much to illustrate just another consequence of the U.S. Government maintaining a permanent standing army, to wit there is no authorization for in the U.S. Constitution and which did not exist prior to World War II.

Finally, if you are dissatisfied with my graphic representation, by all means please feel free to craft your own version.

P.S. Unless you own the servers here at the Daily Paul, please refrain from telling me where to place my work.

I Accept Your Apology

The advice is free.

I just can't see that a mistake on a website in 1998 is the headline of an attack on a guy that is working to destroy the bill of rights and ignores the unalienable Rights of both US citizens and people abroad.

BTW, I would think attacking a veteran for a mistake, that you made yourself, is kind-of petty, but it is your reputation you are hurting, so feel free to ignore me.

P.S. "You would be better served" is not telling you where to place your "work".

Please allow me to make sure I understand you correctly.

Please allow me to make sure I am understanding your "logic" correctly.

Myself as a non serving regular old person who views the word "veteran" to mean someone who served in a war zone...

...and a guy who enlisted in the military, received a law degree, and purposefully posted on his website that he served in Desert Storm and Desert shield as a combat veteran to gain false gravitas for his political career...

...these are both equal/simple misunderstandings.

Further, and let me be absolutely clear, I am by no means concerned that this graphic is in any way damaging my credibility. As stated, every claim made therein is backed up by a source.

Moreover, that such false claims have led to the defeat of several candidates in the past illustrates quite succinctly that the public takes a dim view of candidates falsifying or exaggerating their military service. Fortunately for Senator Graham, his deceit occurred prior to the explosion of online political activity and activism.

Finally, I was not referring to your anecdotal opinion of where "I would be better served" per my previous Post Script as it instead was squarely directed at the verb in your statement, i.e.

"take your "Not a Combat Veteran" crap over to Red State."

...and thus politely requesting you refrain from directing my actions...

  1. Because you lack total standing to issue such a directive.
  2. Red State is traditionally known as a hawkish, Straussian, thus supportive of preemptive foreign policy (they banned Ron Paul supporters in 2008), ergo sympathetic to folks such as Lindsey Graham thus making a poor medium for display.

Be well.

No, you don't get to hide there

Don't pull this, non-serving crap now.

You chose to attack the character of a veteran who has given service to this country and take him to task for what appeared on a web site 15 years ago. You made the same mistake (that probably someone on his staff made). You have no right to act like an expert and then play dumb.

There is an obvious pattern of deceit in your style.

I see it in your hit and run on the veteran issue and in your false indignation and out of context parsing of my Red State comment.

You cannot ignore the first half of my sentence and then claim victim based on the second half. But frankly I don't care to wipe your tears. The fact remains you would be better served to focus on personal liberty here among the grown-ups and play your "not a real veteran" among the chest beaters at Red State.

Finally, I don't expect to find myself defending a man I consider an enemy of US liberty, but I do try to be honest and fair. Tearing down Graham is like shooting fish in a barrel and the last talking point you need to take him down is to quibble over whether he is a REAL veteran.

Done with this - I tried to make a simple point to you and instead of listening you decided to argue. You can reject my view, but it is not mine alone.

Thank You

Thank you for your feedback, your concern is duly noted, and I look forward to the infographic you produce regarding Mr. Graham.

A Veteran is...

Anyone who served on active duty, it is not limited to only those who served in combat.

- A Vet.

Vets For Paul!

Working as a lawyer for the military in an office building thousands of miles from where a war is occurring does not make you a war veteran.

great flyer

time to get this punk out of office.

Thank you

Thank you MrSingh for your kind words, and I second your sentiment that hopefully South Carolinians will see Mr. Graham is retired from the U.S. Senate.

May I?

place this flyer on the blog I write for: Virginia Right?

I will of course give you credit!

Thank you for asking, as long as you give attribution that is all I am hoping for.

I am going to revise the footer section where it says SOURCE(S) as my interpretation of the Creative Commons copyright, i.e. the (CC) Attrib. perhaps is not easily understood.

If you can give me about 30 minutes following the posting time of this comment, the revised graphic will be at the top of the thread.

:) oh and thank you for sharing.

There is a scene permanently

There is a scene permanently imprinted in my brain and it is this.. Lindsey Graham on the Senate floor making the statement "when they say 'I want my lawyer' you tell them 'Shut up. You don't get a lawyer.'"!
I believe some individuals in Congress are just ignorant but Graham is not one of them. He isn't that innocent; he is evil.

It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. – Mark Twain

Just Rotten Fruit.

He does indeed...

He does indeed have a particularly strong animosity towards the U.S. Constitution and Liberty in general.

Another Lindsey rant, that I remember

Was during a town hall meeting when he was confronted by a number of Ron Paul/tea party supporters, in a fit he yelled out, "I am not going to let Ron Paul take over this Republican Party"

excellent graphic!

This should be spread far and wide in S.Carolina.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

Could Not Agree More

Hi pil45, glad to read you enjoy the graphic and let us hope South Carolinians have the opportunity to truly examine the facts and record of Mr. Graham, in lieu of offering him any further benefit of the doubt and continued tenure in the U.S. Senate.

Should be made into a poster

Lots of 'em in fact.

Sounds like a good idea.

Thank you for the excellent suggestion rb25de. I will look into investigating whether CafePress or a similar company could produce this in a financially feasible manner.
