I suggested that my daughter read Animal Farm. A few days later I found this on my desk.

We homeschool and occasionally my kids get bored and ask me for something to do. Many times this leads to me listing through classic books to see if they have read them yet. They are voracious readers and I can usually suggest a book that catches their attention. Recently, I suggested that my 14 year old daughter read Animal Farm by George Orwell. I told her that it was a parable about the way that some governments rise to power and how that power can be abused. I didn't think much about it until a few days later when I found this document stapled together on my desk.

This here is a proud dad.

It's not clear that Hoppe has a valid position on aristocracy, but on the nature of the state, he fairly nails it in this lecture.

Really wonderful

Homeschooling - wonderful
What your daughter wrote - amazing

The one minor thing I would say is "some governments rise to power and how that power can be abused"

Government power not only can be abused, it is in itself, abuse, otherwise it would not be government. There is no "good" government. It is not like there is a government where you can opt out, and say you don't want to participate and not follow its threats of violence (laws), otherwise it would not be government. Government has to pay for itself with theft (taxes). If the 'taxes' were voluntary they would not be taxes. Even a 'democracy' is bascially mob rule... a group of people 'voting' that they have a right to control each other and whichever group is bigger wins, and then the thugs (police) come to enforce the whims of whichever group had more people...even the best democracy is evil.

Pirates ....

did not invent the concept that by putting a flag on something means you can rape, pillage, or plunder anything not bearing the same flag or standard.

Pirates did not invent the concept of everyone attaching a pirate flag to their persons, property, or vessels should follow one pirate code.

Taxation is not called stealing because it is collecting money from people who consent to attaching a flag to their person and/or property. Consent is the key element which separates taxation from theft.

Some people would say ... well if you don't attach a flag to your person or property you will get raped, pillaged, or plundered because the United States flag operates the same way a pirate flag does against foreign vessels. To those people, I say prove it by presenting facts that can be relied upon. Facts being derived from a competent witness who testifies under a penalty for lying to first hand knowledge of something seen or heard. I can testify under a penalty of lying to first hand knowledge I possess of something seen or heard official actors operating with a United States flag are no different than pirates because I have been looted while not bearing a flag for my person or property.

As a matter of fact, I can't really stand people who can't prove it because those people's cowardice and inability to stand up to a government they consent to is the precise reason people who operate without using a United States flag are looted. This is also the reason I cheer when police abuses occur. I will not be satisfied until justice is served upon all people who have consented to attaching a United States flag to their persons or property because they lack the courage or intestinal fortitude to take any real risk resisting injustice. All people who consent to attaching a United States flag to their persons or property deserve nothing less than more abuse by a government they have consented to because they have literally done nothing to help defend people who have been pillaged for not attaching a United States flag to their persons or property.

I think your daughter

& her parents should be guests on the Ron Paul Channel.

Hear! Hear! This would be a great thing for ron Paul's Channel

on You Tube. That was lovely, well said, and a great analysis. Thank you for posting this, if you have a blog or website, it should be posted there as well.

:)

I was around that age when I read that book. Awesome read.
I'd recommend 1984, Brave New World, Farenheit 451, and Anthem as well.

There are some 'adult' themes/moments, in those books.
Personally when I read them at her age I really didn't notice that stuff, I was fixated on the stories and the idea's.

I dunno what you're comfortable with your daughter reading (as I don't really know you), but if you don't don't find anything objectionable in those books I'd say they'd probably be right up her alley.
Once you pop the top on dystopian literature, you can't stop. :)

I had an amazing teacher that recommended those things to me in the 5th grade, and I turned out alright. I mean sometimes I read too much... but other than that no permanent damage... ;)

Very impressive for a 14 year old IMO

This here is a prime...

example of why,'they' demonize homeschooling, when in point of fact, it's just the opposite. We know now, that they are trying to rewrite our history, yet again. That common core is nothing but more rhetoric, designed to steal and dumb down the population even more, since Americans are finally awake, they fear the time when kids will rise up against the end game of tyranny. Congratulations, for a job well done to both of you and keep up the good work. I would be proud as well.

Analyzing the handwriting of a child is an especial challenge...

Forgive me if I am way off-base - but a couple of 'guesses' based on this sample?

-The child has few toys, or at least a general disinterest in the ones she has
-The child is 7, no more than 8 years old - just now breaking away from mother-clinging
-Works out in their mind how something will look before starting out

Sorry - but as an amateur graphologist I always examine handwriting samples very carefully. I might mention a couple of 'easy' calls -

The kid is idealistic, healthy, respectful of boundaries, more interested in the future than the past, excited to move on to the next thing instantly(all things that could be generically said of most all children).

Forgive me if I am wrong.

Oops - she's 14. Should've seen that.

Handwriting analysis holds not to gender or age. But it was stated clearly - she's 14.

This makes some things easier, some harder.

Relationship to mother - strong - or weak? The amount of space afforded to the left (mother) side is smaller, could be indicative of 'distancing'. From the ages of 7-14 a child distances themself from the mother and attaches to the father. This reverses again around 14-15 for both genders as an equilibrium is reached.

But I am doubly sure of my first 'assessment' - lack of attachment to the material things of this world. This girl has few toys she cares about.

Hmmm

I've always been less than impressed with people showing off their kids. Your kids are always cuter and smarter to you than they are to everyone else.

I've been even less impressed with someone showing off a kid merely parenting their parents' viewpoints before they get to the stage where they have the education and experienced necessary to reach their own viewpoints. it usually involves a post like this or a video and it gets shared to like minded people who all marvel at how that young child learned so much.

And I hate to be cynical, but I am not even sure this is real. it doesn't look like the writing of a 14 year old girl. It just doesn't look legit.

But if it is, good job teaching your kid, and I hope they continue to explore and learn on their own.

Well done!!

I was given the title of Doctor at age 27, but I didn't start figuring this out until age 35. Great that your daughter is way ahead of the curve!

You might want to send that to Dr. Paul as an example of real education! This is what he's been trying to get across in interviews recently - our economy, etc, will improve only after we improve education, and allow kids to learn what is really going on.

Good job,

Lyrics:

As someday it may happen that a conflict we must start,
I've got a little list! I've got a little list!
Of America's detractors who might well be blown apart
and who'll certainly be miffed! They'll certainly be miffed!
There's the oil owning foreigners whose skin is rather brown.
I push a button then a drone will blow up half their town.
All victims who are blown up too - 'accomplices' we'll call.
No innocents - just terrorists - we'll classify them all.
But wait - the army's offensives to congress I must tell...
but not the CIA's - the drones will fit there swell!

If the Army flies the drones, then congress he must sway
so he'll hide the program deep - deep inside the CIA

There's the radical inciter, and the others of great faith,
and the Pro-Life activist - I've got him on the list!
The whistleblower Wikileaking into cyberspace.
He can't escape my fist - I've got him on the list.
The idiot who raises some objection to my plan
"The constitution guarantees due process" he'll demand
"without a trial or a judge to keep the rule of law
you cannot act as jury judge and executioner!"
I'm sad to say but, little man, your theory isn't true
due process is just this - a process that I do!

And now you're on the list! And now you're on the list!
'Cause the process that he does - that is what due process is!

And that noncompliant nuisance who is just a waste of space
the nosey journalist! I've got him on the list!
And the bitter people clinging to their guns and to their faith.
They never would be missed - our drones just do not miss.
Those who approve my killing move on foreigners alone
will see the state expatriate then hit them with a drone.
And in the end it doesn't matter what they think is true
the drones can kill you both abroad and in the homeland too.
For a nation who gives up their rights and has a monarchist
may well be on the list - you're all there on the list!

He has put us on the list! He has put us on the list!
For the tyranny we bought, will rule with an iron fist!

Aren't R3VOL the most creative bunch?

I posted this awhile back, but can't seem to locate it; RobHino also posted it, too, back then.

Apropos of Rand's recent EPIC Brennan-O'DroneMurder Filibuster, for those who may have never seen this parody, when it came out, behold: The Obamikado!

It's based on Gilbert & Sullivan's opera/musical, The Mikado:
