Ben Swann: Maryland Parent Arrested For Challenging Common Core (VIDEO)

by Joshua Cook | Ben Swann.com | September 22, 2013

At a Towson, Maryland school board meeting on Thursday, a parent attempting to ask questions about Common Core was arrested and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer. The event was recorded by another parent, and later related by yet another to Michelle Malkin. Robert Small focused on the lowering of educational standards in his complaint, saying “You are not preparing them for Harvard,” but rather a community college.

The meeting was a question-and-answer session organized by Superintendent Dallas Dance, but – as is becoming increasingly common – questions were submitted on paper and select questions were answered, rather than allowing parents to stand up and speak. This format allows for the censoring of questions, and indeed the questions answered by the meeting’s panel were, according to the person videotaping, “softball” questions.

“In a nutshell, it was an hour and a half long and the first hour was Dallas Dance, Lillian Lowery, a PTA leader, and a teacher from Cantonsville High School basically tell us how great this was going to be.” Multiple parents in the room had already shown frustration at the question selection when Small stood up and began to ask challenging questions. He spoke briefly before being escorted out by security and arrested. “He was just a dad trying to get some information about his children’s education and ended up in jail for not sitting down and shutting up,” the letter said.

That gut wrenching pain I

That gut wrenching pain I used to get during the election season... returned after watching this. I felt it whenever the thought that we are a doomed country of sheep heading to the grinder emanated itself.

Who is the lone lady that stood up and defended him?

Southern Agrarian

I felt it too. =( same feeling.

How sickening he was not allowed to question and give his opinion. Also sickening that the whole room did not stick up for him and all walk out together, at the least.

Democratic Socialist Collective Making Decisions

This is the arena where Noam Chomsky likes to break heads.
Like Cyril, I thought of workers councils and collective political decision making... However, this was a much more civil example of democratic collective decision-making than the Bolsheviks. But all those kids in college that itch to polish rods for Noam Chomsky need to pay attention to this video and tell me how their more equitable society will improve on this.

It's all about the boiling frog, really.

Mark,

(I assume it's your first name)

it's all about the boiling frog, you know.

It always starts "soft". And it only gets worse as time passes. If we had a time machine, we could ask the mensheviks or the trotskyists how that worked out for them.

America really needs to understand a simple thing about what's looming on her dark horizon. There are only two component populaces having the shared dream of an "ideal collectivist society":

a) the useful idiots, and

b) the thugs.

When not fought in time, the latter always end up having the former for breakfast, along with the opposition (that would be us).

Common Core is only one out of many, many, many facets of "the plan" they wish to put in place against liberty, and for the sole benefit of themselves, spreadsheet worshiping thugs - present or future.

These are nothing but the techniques of the Bolsheviks

The video account [ http://www.dailypaul.com/299991 ] supports this blatantly :

This format allows for the censoring of questions, and indeed the questions answered by the meeting’s panel were, according to the person videotaping, “softball” questions.
