Rep. Nancy Pelosi: Nothing Left To Cut In Budget - 'The Cupboard Is Bare’

The Washington Times
Sunday, September 22, 2013

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says Republican-led efforts to rein in government spending are pointless because there is nothing left to cut in the almost $4 trillion-a-year federal budget.

“The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that,” Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said in an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“We cannot have cuts just for the sake of cuts.”

The federal budget has doubled in size in 12 years, from $1.9 trillion in 2001 to $3.8 trillion this year.

How about closing some of the

How about closing some of the 900 US military bases in the 140 other countries.

NSA is one waste made by a paranoid criminal government.

That' 52 billion dollar waste that can be eliminated.

Free includes debt-free!

How about Ole Nancy Pelosi

How about

Ole Nancy Pelosi went to Patosi to try something with her hair, but the flick of the switch killed the bitch then no one really cared

Ain't got not use for extra cupboards. Tables neither.

Whaling Captain, Town Supervisor, and church elder B. C. Cartwright at his fishing shack near a menhaden "pot works", Shelter Island. Don't mind you sending what you ain't a needing; don't bother sending me no more bills. Look at me. I need what little I got.

Not sure what I would do with an empty cupboard or table if'ing I had one.

Plymouth Colony History: Shelter Island is located between the outstretched arms of the North and South Forks, it is a natural shelter from the storms and tides of the Atlantic Ocean to the south and Long Island Sound to the north.

Although included in the original Plymouth Colony land grant made by King James I of England in 1620, the island's very first European settlers were not religious separatists. In fact, thinking that Shelter Island might be too isolated for the pursuit of their religious freedoms the Pilgrim Fathers sold the island in 1651 for 1,600 barrels of badly needed sugar. Four wealthy sugar merchants from the equally remote island of Barbados, led by two brothers, Nathaniel and Constant Sylvester, bought Shelter Island. The sugar barons intended to use Shelter Island to further the needs of their sweet empire....

Let me guess

There was no challenge or follow up to this comment? I'm left with only a guess because I didn't witness the comment first hand as I don't watch these shows anymore.
Every time I get the urge to turn on the MSM channels for my news I remind myself of the hiding and participation by the MSM of the RNC/Romney CHEAT of our movement last year.

Marie Antoinette

How is she taken seriously?

When it's all one has, go with the lie.

If people only understood (If people weren't so ignorant).

The people always get blamed in the end.

Bottom line no more borrowing, and taxes only pay interest on money already borrowed.

$17 Trillion in debt, show wants to add $4 Trillion more? Ten times Income tax revenues???

Congress has only increased the National Debt since 1893.

Free includes debt-free!

Including future promises, tax spending always dwafs receipts.

Tis the way of mythical governmental financing. Funding created out-of-thin-air
, even the air we breath is taxed to support future promises dreamed up by government. The last time the USA ran a budget surplus (including future promises to pay) was never! In 1837, President Andrew Jackson nearly closed the books on the Second National Bank. National Debt was paid down to near zero. The Second National Bank 20 year charter ended.

Hark, Congress never stops promising just because it cannot deliver. Never!

Old Mother Hubbard Pelosi forgot the verse where

she humbly curtsies and says, "Your servant." Congress serves the people, and the people are through with out-of-control government spending. It's Congress' job to identify non-essential services and cut them from the budget.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

Besides most of the wasteful

Besides most of the wasteful bureaucracies that could and should be cut, they could also get rid of lavish political perks.

In addition to politicians salaries and pensions, they enjoy healthcare complete with their own private pharmacy, medical center, team of physicians, nurses and other medical professionals on standby. Other perks are located in the basement of congressional office buildings featuring a barbershop and other conveniences such as a "bank" that offers Congressional members unsecured, personal signature loans up to $25,000.

They could get rid of the free haircuts, spa visits, the generous guaranteed pensions, government subsidized healthcare and daycare, free travel and the expense accounts that could make a corporate titan drool. If they have free tanning included, someone should think about an intervention for Boehner.

I have an idea

Let's create another government bureaucracy that will be in charge of finding areas where budget cuts COULD be made. Of course, this new bureaucracy will need a large staff to review the scores of potential cuts to be made ... and this new government bureaucracy will need a media arm to help keep the population in tune to the new department's activities. And they will certainly need a security team for all their members to insure a hassle-free environment for those bureaucrats who will be charged with ferreting out potential budget cuts.

So, if we are REALLY serious about cutting the budget, we should create this new bureaucracy which would only require the addition of about 1500 government personnel ... THEN we can get REALLY serious about cutting this massive budget!

(I have seen every episode of the 1980-1985 BBC series titled "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister" ... that is how I know what goes on in the "mind" of Pelosi and her ilk.)

They did already. They called it the "Supercongress"

It was a waste of time. Though when they started it it was funny because a lot of people thought the whole structure of government had been altered by the word "super".

Delusional. Hundreds of

Hundreds of billions could be cut from the defense dept. immediately.

of Departments 'cuts' to make...
start with DoD and State by 4/5's..
and eliminate the IRS, DHS and Education
after we nullify unconstitutional Federal regulations,
create State banking,
change legal tender laws,
oh.. there's just so much cutting to do honey..
you just have NO idea!!

Cut the federal budget 80% year one

... make a version of "hunger games" whereby the few remaining government leaches fight amongst themselves { in a nationally televised spectacle } for The People's monies :)

Has to be one hundred percent!

Taxes only pays the interest on already borrowed money.

They have to borrow more to spend more. It's been a constant problem for over a century.

Congress increased the debt every year since 1893.

Congress is Denied!

Free includes debt-free!

Why don't we start by firing you....and .....

any other statists who insist on removing more of our rights, on either side of the aisle? We could certainly find some statesmen who won't cost nearly as much as you do!

Who's going to make the Old Mother Hubbard meme?

That's funny,

I remember Ron Paul on the campaign trail talking about $1 Trillion in cuts first year.

Well, Nancy, you could start by shutting down DHS.

From there you could take away the FDA/USDA's "color of law" regulating raw milk and the FDA's harrassment of producers of natural food products.

You could even shut down both Houses of Congress and let citizens vote on legislation via the Internet. I doubt the most ignorant of us could do a worse job than you and your colleagues.

Gee, Nancy, I can go on all day. Thank you for giving me this opportunity by you making such a stupid, self-serving statement.
