I Think Ted Cruz is Trying to CO-OPT Rand

Ted Cruz is a Bush guy. He is clearly the establishment answer to Rand Paul. It's pretty clear that he is trying to setup a situation where he will get the nomination for President or split the conservative libertarian vote within the party and leave us with Jeb or Christie.

We know very little about him other than the fact that he worked for Bush and his wife worked for Goldman. His rhetoric is great but look beneath the surface, he seems like he is to conservatives what Obama was to the progressives, great rhetoric very little substance, an establishment trick paying lip service to those it needs to neutralize.

Be very wary of him. He is a Bush guy with very little track record.

Another nitpicking and paranoid fool

The reason libertarian movement will remain insignificant is because of childish and paranoid people like you. "His wife worked for Goldman" so what? being employed in a bank is a crime? Cruz has played major role in gun control and amnesty defeat as well as Rand filibuster. The media would have depicted Ted as the next "GOP messiah" like Rubio and get millions of donation if stood with McCain and Graham, but he chose not to and get called Waco bird for standing with Rand and liberty.

Rand Paul/ Ted Cruz 2016

Who's Fooling Who??

#1. That's WACKO....NOT Waco....Waco is in Texas
#2, Rand Paul/Ted Cruz 2016 is a fantasy:

"Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta,...Cruz's father, who was born in 1939 in Matanzas, Cuba,....Cruz's mother was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware,......Cruz's father today is a pastor in Carrollton, Texas, a Dallas suburb, and became a U.S. citizen in 2005..."

Does the phrase "NATURAL BORN CITIZEN" come into play here..consider it.

His wife worked at Goldman

That wasn't necessary a knock, it was just one of the only known facts we have. You are missing the whole point of my post. This guys came out of nowhere, was endorsed by and worked for the Bushes and we need to be careful.

How is that being paranoid or nitpicking? How does name calling serve anyone?

I don't think his wife being

I don't think his wife being an employee of Goldman is a very strong argument either, but I think being paranoid concerning politicians or the government is a healthy thing IMO. Nobody should just believe someone or put someone on a pedestal, merely because of words. Deeds matter much more.

If Ted Cruz can match his deeds with his rethoric for atleast 8 years, he'll have my confidence. But right now it would be foolish to grant trust that easily.

Amen for clarity. Thank you,

Amen for clarity.

Thank you, OWO.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

Here is a reminder for all three of you:

Ron Paul on Ted Cruz

If elected, Ted will stand side-by-side with my son Rand in the U.S. Senate to fight against Big Government.

While there is no doubt

that I have the highest and utmost respect for Ron...

Why don't you think with your own brain. Perhaps a little research would suffice as well.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Ted has a good record. Why

Ted has a good record. Why are people so weary of him? I think it's great what he's doing.

Ps. Rand was great on the floor today. He was like Joe Mauer and hit it out of the park! But then again, I've got a huge crush on him. Is that weird?

Him being both Rand and Mauer.

Perhaps you should

take a look here:

So he's got a good voting

So he's got a good voting record and you want to go off of a gut feeling?

The time that you spent looking.. it is obvious that you did not vet the links.

Try, try again. Bonus points if you come up with a worthy response :-)

Today, Senator Cruz is doing the heavy lifting

Ted Cruz isn't a Bush guy. Cruz has taken the lead against amnesty and Obamacare in the US Senate. Today, Cruz is making a stand against Leviathan. It isn't the right time to be undercutting Cruz. If he did something along the lines of Bush and Obama, then the OP would be appropriate. For now, he is one of our best allies. If Rand doesn't win the Republican nomination, Cruz seems to be a viable choice. That's another reason not to stir up division and enmity between Paul and Cruz. At this point, I would be happy to have Paul and Cruz on the presidential ticket in either order. There are about 530 other Congress people who are more worthy of criticism.

NOT POSSIBLE my Friend....

"Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta...Cruz's father, who was born in 1939 in Matanzas, Cuba.....Cruz's mother was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware,....."

CRUZ is NOT a "Natural Born Citizen"' Ineligible for POTUS or VP.

He was more recently endorsed

He was more recently endorsed by Ron Paul in his Senate race. What does that mean to you?

My thoughts are that Rand

My thoughts are that Rand can't be the guy to filibuster everything, and that many of us once backed bushie until we heard Ron Paul in the 2007 debates and the scales fell from our eyes. I admit I haven't done a lot of research on Cruz to speak to his record.

actually that's

all YOU know, ye of little researching ability.

I think it's great what he's doing/done

But he's just a guy you've got to be wary about. We've seen so often in the past how good people turn bad.

It could be that they were always bad, and were planted to co-opt a movement

They got bought off -- most people have a price

They and their families lives were threatened

It's eery what happens, but this is what we're dealing with. Which is why it's pretty damn remarkable we have a guy like Ron Paul on our side who wasn't sucked in by the machine.

Let's applaud Ted but keep a watchful eye.

I saw this posted lower in the thread

Rhetoric is meaningless. Even Jesus said you will know my people by the fruit they bear.

Team work!

Lee just sited Federalist #62.

That is because

Lee is solid, and means what he says. He is da man!

Cruz gave him props for doing so as well.

Watch what he does

not what he says. Over time (5 years or more), of course!!!

I was wondering why it was

I was wondering why it was taking hours for a poster to step up and say "Don't trust him, he'll betray you!".

voting record. Judge for yourself.

He hasn't been in office long enough to have a meaningful record

So far he's been pretty good. But he is a Bush guy who came out of nowhere. We shouldn't give anyone a free pass, not Cruz, not Rand, not Ron. I loved Ron because you could look back and see a man standing on principle for 30 years and he was right about nearly EVERYTHING at a time when it wasn't popular or convenient to take the stances he did.

Ted Cruz is using a lot of the tactics Rand has, I just want people to be watchful and hope he continues on the path he is on and that he sticks to principle.

Very thoughtful comment. Trust Should be EARNED.

That doesn't mean people shouldn't be given an opportunity to earn it, it means that they are, at best, a neutral until they demonstrate consistency .. ideally in tough situations where it unlikely they can just be acting.

Fortunately or unfortunately, politics tends to attract people who are inherently weasels and opportunists. As Jim Rogers says, “Beware of all politicians everywhere. They excelled at recess when they were in school but have excelled at little since.”

It is unfortunate that weasels and opportunists are attracted to government "work" (where they will get opportunities to stuff their pockets with power, glory, and money they could never get in fair competition in a free market). In a way, however, it is also fortunate. That's because if we are discerning their career paths CAN serve as a sort of "honey pot" to separate the career politicians from those who are honest and honorable.

What career did Ted Cruz choose? What did he major in in college. Did he first do something constructive in the real world without any special connection to the government?

What I like about both of the Paul's is that they did NOT choose politics as a career path. They, if anything, took a step DOWN in pay and esteem by winning national office.

Can you tell me about Cruz and others?

Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28

Rand didn't want Cruz to Filibuster

But he's backing him now that he is.
