I Think Ted Cruz is Trying to CO-OPT Rand

Ted Cruz is a Bush guy. He is clearly the establishment answer to Rand Paul. It's pretty clear that he is trying to setup a situation where he will get the nomination for President or split the conservative libertarian vote within the party and leave us with Jeb or Christie.

We know very little about him other than the fact that he worked for Bush and his wife worked for Goldman. His rhetoric is great but look beneath the surface, he seems like he is to conservatives what Obama was to the progressives, great rhetoric very little substance, an establishment trick paying lip service to those it needs to neutralize.

Be very wary of him. He is a Bush guy with very little track record.

Rand didn't want to do it himself again, either

the best thing he can do right now is to back him.

Marco Rubio

Is the SNAKE we should be bashing. He's speaking on the Senate floor now. Makes me want to puke!

Also, #KeepCruzing #MakeDCListen AND #StandWithRAND are trending on Twitter right now. Just throwing that out there.

For now he is a great mouthpiece and ally of Rand

We should support friend's of Rands and the family we trust. Ted credits alot of his success to the Paul family and we should not be afraid to express our doubts of Cruz, but also remember to always stand with rand.

its healthy paranoia, but he has great rhetoric that we should endorse. For now he Reagan running in 1976 and we just hope he doesnt make the same mistakes when he takes the mantle as Reagan did.

Anyone at anytime

That is willing to slam Reid is OK with me. Boom.

True

We have to stand up against the Statists and die on our feet if we have to.

Anybody know his voting

Anybody know his voting record?

I have a feeling you might be right

I think your right that ted cruz is misleading to try to become President or spilt the vote....the people in control are not stupid they need a ted cruz.....how is it that the first time ted cruz spoke on the Senate floor was at rand pauls filibuster.....I don't trust lawyers and ted cruz is a lawyer I hope what I'm saying is not true but I wouldn't be surprised if it is....Rand Paul has more credibility and the father that taught him....I will support ted cruz but not for president.... standwithrand...

STAND with RAND

STAND with RAND...way ta go bro!

Ron Paul AND Rand Paul endorsed Ted Cruz

I remember they even held a rally with him in Texas.
Here is a copy of the letter Ron Paul wrote endorsing Ted Cruz AND asking that we donate to M.r Cruz's campaign.

I was there

His speech was awkward, scripted almost by an establishment writer and I didn't get a good feel from him. I hope he is a real libertarian, but something just doesn't seem right. As we speak he is filibustering, now Rand is not the only one. The establishment can easily have people sway towards Cruz instead of Rand.

That [endorsement] means NOTHING to me.

MissionValleyMafia, though a member for well over a year, does not have a posting history here. I am curious about his/her motives, if any.

Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly agree with the thread post.

I am glad that Cruz is doing what he is doing in the position that he is in. But I will NEVER support or vote for him for president.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

I've supported Ron since 2008

I mostly lurk, I only post when I have something to say, I think a healthy questioning of Ted Cruz is a good thing.

That means nothing to me either.

You could be here simply to instigate trouble. Fortunate for you, I completely agree with your post.

Stick around, post more often and we may possibly get along quite nicely :-)

MissionValleyMafia.. I like that name lol

don't let the people in power fool you like how they fooled

everyone with Obama...Just because they endorse him doesn't mean we should trust him

He was MUCH better than Dewhurst

Is probably why he got the endorsement, Rand also endorsed Akin. An endorsemnt from Rand and Ron doesn't mean they are a friend of liberty per se. Ted Cruz SOUNDS great in a lot ways. We need to be very aware though we know who Rand is, we know what he stands for, he campaigned for his father since he was a kid.

I would not be shocked to see Cruz do an about face if he ever became president and do what Obama has done in continuing statist policies in spite of his rhetoric on the campaign trail.

Indeed

...Ron and Rand may have thought Cruz would be preferable to his opponent in the race, but that doesn't mean he's on our team.

P.S. It's also possible that Cruz *was* on our team at the time of his election, but has since sold out. That's not an uncommon thing in politics.

Research indicates that

Research indicates that people are hardwired to vote solely based on appearance. If the person looks strong, trustworthy and competent, they will vote for that person regardless of his actual ideology or actual competence.

The people on top KNOW this. They have basically used every psychological trick in the book to game the system in their favor. Just look at all the shenanigans CNN or the MSM use in order to frame the narrative in their favor.

It's this propensity for the people at the top to misuse human psychology against us that makes me distrust Ted Cruz. If I were completely honest, Ted Cruz would look better as a president than Rand Paul does. And his oratory skills are very inspirational and presidential like. But both these strengths happen to lie in areas where human psychology is prone to fall for it.

What I mean is, that it's very coincedental that someone like Ted Cruz happens to be on the scene. Rand Paul I can trust, because of his dad. And even that trust has limits to it. I can't trust Ted Cruz, because I don't know for sure if his image is a facade or not, no matter how convincing he may seem. Because of Ron Paul, I may be semi-certain that Rand won't flipflop, but I can't say the same for Ted Cruz. Conmen are usually very charming.

Personally, I'm glad for his backup, but I rather take Rand's clumsiness (that's slowly vanishing over time), because that has a more genuine feel to it and makes me more certain somebody isn't pulling a fast one on me.

Perhaps I'm being harsh on Ted, but considering what forces are at work here, some paranoia is in order.

Hey my cousin works for

Hey my cousin works for Goldman and she's not a bad person. In fact, she voted for Ron Paul in the primaries last year and for Johnson in the fall. I don't think Cruz is trying to co-opt Rand. I believe he's trying to bring attention to this monstrosity of a bill called Obamacare and that's a GOOD thing regardless of who doing it!

It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. – Mark Twain

I see it differently

To keep the support of the conservative base, establishment Republicans have to appear to fight for conservative causes that they don't actually want to succeed. How do they manage to do this? By focusing on *futile* causes, like repealing Obamacare. Why do you think the establishment leadership in the House has voted 40+ times to repeal Obamacare? Why has Obamacare been *the* focus of the Republican establishment and their media outlets for the last 4 years? Precisely because they know the movement to repeal Obamacare is going nowhere. By focusing on Obamcare, the party leadership has led conservatives into a dead-end. And as long as conservatives are focusing on repealing Obamacare, they're not focusing on other goals which they actually could achieve.

Most excellent post.

I agree with you

I just want people to wary, we cannot afford to be fooled by great rhetoric, this is too important. Hope for the best but be vigilant, we have to hold everyone Rand and Cruz included accountable for their actions.

Agreed.

We can NOT risk anything in this political climate. It is the reason that we are in the situation that we are in.

Time will tell. We will see

Time will tell. We will see how he acts during the Texas Senate primary next year.

Southern Agrarian

When people trash companies like Goldman Sachs

They're more referring to the high level executives who have the ability to royally screw up the economy, not the low level positions, that I'd assume your friend has.

And....

Clicked on this expecting more than all I also knew which is "his wife worked for Goldman." I do not care for that either but he's been heroic fairly recently on drones, guns, Syria I believe, now ObamaCare, etc. More specifics would be good including conceding his amazing help in key wins. How about votes you think were bad for example? If Ted is all he might be, he's a huge win. He has a big red state to sway our way on for 5 more years. Don't worry about 2016 yet. Regardless, Rand has the built-in nationwide (or worldwide) base and huge fundraising he'd need to win through Super Tuesday. Ted knows that and would be an ideal V.P. candidate. ;)

No matter what anyone says

You have to agree that he is trying take pages from Rand's playbook and ride Rands coattails.

He would be the PERFECT VP

He would be a great VP candidate. I just am very concerned that Rand votes in the primary will be siphoned to Cruz and we will be stuck with Jeb or Christie.

Wrong.

Consider the consequences of what you speak. Unfortunate things have occurred in history, which could potentially provide a path for Cruz.

Very True

Too true sir.

Amen to that!

Cruz is a friend of Liberty. We don't need to canabolize. *IF* he is proven to be what the original poster suggests, WE WILL surely sniff him out. As for now, we'll use him in this political chess game that we are currently kicking ass in.
