Lawrence Patton McDonald, M.D. (April 1, 1935 – September 1, 1983) was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the seventh congressional district of Georgia as a Democrat. He was a passenger on board Korean Air Lines Flight 007 when it was shot down by Soviet interceptors and presumed dead.

A conservative Democrat, he was active in numerous civic organizations and maintained a very conservative voting record in Congress. He was known for his staunch opposition to communism and believed in long standing covert efforts by Trilateral Commission and other powerful US groups to bring about a socialism and world government. He was the second president of the John Birch Society and also a cousin of General George S. Patton.

very impt. post, dex

....about a huge unsung hero. To know about and agree with what is said in this post means more recognize and support people like Larry ... understand how Ron Paul has stayed alive and the sometimes confusing tactics of others attempting to put themselves in a position where they can make a difference and stay in that position. It takes some wisdom to recognize the good guys in this confusing and deceptive political arena. It also takes some wisdom to recognize the evil tactics used to silence the voices of and stem the influence of the "good guys"...the unsung heros. However, I am convinced they are there...and some we never even hear about.

What would the JBS have become had he not died?

What have they done since he did?

If anyone on here is privy, please let me know. They seem to have been entirely stagnant for decades now. What's going on?

JBS runs the Freedom index

The Birch Society runs the New American mag, and they do the Freedom Index

Still active here in Central Texas

The best Ron Paul and liberty supporters in the Waco area are JBS members, don't know if the group does much, but the members sure as heck do.

Some of the best people in the world.

I love the Larry McDonald

I love the Larry McDonald Crossfire interview. He handles both Buchanan and Braden. Rest in peace.

Thanks Blacklab

Thanks Blacklab, I just watched it. Unbelievably prescient he was. I love how Buchanan years later came to echo Mcdonald's very comments that he once railed against. Yours in Chile, Ellie Dee.

I just Dl'd part 1 & 2 from youtube

I found the crossfire show on youtube and DL'd it. Good stuff! I was a young kid then - a little too young to appreciate all that Larry was talking about.

I remember when Larry's plane was shot down

My dad was following news reports as they were coming in at night on TV. The reports seemed to not know for sure if he was alive or not. I remember my dad being upset about the turn of events - I was almost 11 years old then.
It was big news among us John Birchers at the time.

He is the reason Ron Paul is still alive.

Ever wonder why Ron was/is not an overt "truther"? Because he wants to stay alive.

McDonald was absolutely murdered or kidnapped. It's not clear if the plane was ever found, as no wreckage was found, IIRC (if I recall correctly). Witnesses say it landed in fact (I think in Korea), or it may have been the nearest Russian territory, next to one of the Korea's.

McDonald was a rising star, like Rand is, and that's why you will not hear Rand talking more than in a whisper about the Powers That Be - that's why Rand doesn't want to "go there" when Luke Rudkowski of WE ARE CHANGE tries that line of questioning. Rand too knows his fate if he comes out swinging like Larry McDonald did.

Rand has obviously committed to playing the game of politics as his chosen strategy for fighting the global, Satanic terrorists behind the Fed Reserve cartel of banks.

Someone else reads New

Someone else reads New American I see.
You forgot to mention Ron Paul was his protege and looked up to him frequently in his first stint in Congress. He was anti-UN, pro-gold, and a dissident within his own party. What more could you ask for?

His books on the constitution were first rate too! I snatched some off of AbeBooks this week.

2 thumbs up for The New American mag!

.

and dont forget

this man was also a democrat ;-)

The biggest slap was by Ronald Regan. Larry McDonald was literally assassinated by the Soviets and the only thing Regan did was wag his finger and call Russia an "Evil Empire"
