Protect you against counterfeiting... bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

wipes tears of laughter away

stares blankly at how the state of things are

seriously, the notes themselves are counterfeited when you think about it. It's like the crooks who counterfeit saying they will protect the counterfeit bills from being counterfeited...

LoL. Ingenious Fed swindle.

Germany's going to have to hoard an awful lot of our printed money to get all their gold back.

Did they really act concerned about the cost of creating money?

How much do you think that they have in materials (ink, paper, maintaining equipment, ect.) to create one one-hundred dollar bill? Maybe a few cents? Ridiculous.

yes...so only the "Counterfeiters that be" can counterfeit...

our national currency.

That is very funny.

Gold-backed? Er...well...I mean...Gold on the back.

I made this back in 2006! Before the DP was around.

Your creation brings up an interesting point: Since all U.S. paper currency says "Federal Reserve Note, why don't coins say "Federal Reserve Coins?"

I used to save all my coins thinking they were somehow different or might hold more value than paper, but I've given up on that idea.

Except for certain coins like U.S. States and State Park quarters or any nickel.

I keep all nickels because they're made of 75% copper and 25% nickel and copper is rising in value.

To be fair, can't the US

To be fair, can't the US government and the FED come up with enough gold to easily cover the monetary base?

only if the number of FRNs for an ounce of gold goes way up

like to $15k-$20k per ounce. Then all the FRNs in the world will be covered by all the ounces of gold in the world.

oh wait. what about the other trash currencies? they need real money too. maybe we have to go up to $100k per ounce for all currencies to be replaced by gold.

Surely that was a joke Dr. NO...Wasn't it?

I mean your comment that the FED can come up with enough gold to easily cover the monetary base.

It WAS a joke right???

Well, the US treasury already

Well, the US treasury already has about 400 billion worth of gold; that is getting close to the monetary base of around 1 trillion...

this report

if it is to be believed says different

http://www.fms.treas.gov/gold/current.html

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

This is a very critical

This is a very critical mistake made by Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, etc when they talk about the gold the treasury has. "It only has 12 billion worth of gold!" Etc, etc.

That is because the Treasury is using the book value of gold, or 45 dollars per troy ounce. With the market value of gold as 1400, that report indicates a gold value of 370 billion.

How do we really know...

...how much gold the U.S. has?

I suppose you can always say

I suppose you can always say that the gold under fort knox doesn't really exist. Proof of that?

The report is not to be "be lie ved"

google the images of 1970's news paper articles of gold taken from Ft. Knox.

There is no gold in Ft. Knox. Just gold plated tungsten bricks.

right

I know fort knox is empty
What i was trying to find, was a number close
to DR.NO's numbers of total gold, could't do it
I checked 4 sites,not one was close...maybe,all
these numbers are bogus and we really do not have any
gold these days,Now that i can believe

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Is it coincidence or perfect timing?

Gold color makes you feel good!

Bernanke may even convince himself the FED has real gold left because it's on the 100's bill.

Maybe they can convince Germany to take the bills instead of the real gold.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Remember when Bernenke made Time Magazine's Man of the Year?

Lots of us screamed bloody murder about the decision.

But Dr. Paul said it was justified since Bernenke is the world's chief counterfeiter!

Oh how right he was.

Banknotes are now replaced so

Banknotes are now replaced so often it's hard to keep large quantities of cash around for a long time. Nobody likes accepting old notes which are easier to counterfeit.

New $100 bills

How does this reduce counterfeiting, when the counterfeiters can still counterfeit hundred dollar bills from the last fifty years.

It will not be at all effective until the banks stop accepting the old ones.

I'm afraid the Fed and Dept. of Treasury have something else in mind.

The Hidden Meanings in the New $100 Bill

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

I wonder how many milligrams of gold.

Gold is $0.04/mg

23 mg for a dollar

478 mg for a twenty.

Free includes debt-free!

This would work better in market, IMO.

Peter Schiff was right.

Free includes debt-free!

Not sure why it needs new security features

No one can possibly print enough $100 bills to devalue the FRN even remotely as fast as the Federal Reserve does.
