One Week to Go: Government Finally Reveals Obamacare Premiums

Drawing on pricing data for approved insurance plans in 48 states, the federal government gave Americans the number they have been waiting to hear for months. The average premium an average American will pay will pay for a mid-tier, or second-cheapest, health insurance plan when the Obamacare health exchanges open for enrollment next week is $328, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS.

However, in certain states, where a significant portion of the population lives in rural areas, that figure could be much higher because it can be more expensive to deliver healthcare. In Mississippi, average premiums will cost $448 per month, premium costs in Alaska will amount to $474, and premiums will average $516 in Wyoming. The least expensive plans were reported in Minnesota, where premiums will cost an average of $192 per month, and Tennessee, with premiums averaging $245.

sliding scale of tyranny

Forget that there are rules... there are no hard and fast rules...

Their rules are to drive up the costs to unbearable levels for everyone..especially those they deem as demographic pockets of resistance to global tyranny.

People forget that Lincoln supposedly outlawed slavery. It was re-instituted with the Federal Reserve Act, and has become progressively worse with every generation, since then.

Obamacare is outright in your face "class slavery" a transfer of wealth from one class to another. No different from the massive transfer of wealth from we the people to big oil.

enough is enough.

Just checked for rates for myself

For a silver plan for central Oregon - from a bit over 700 to a bit under 900 bucks a month!

Much as I love the place this has me so not in a hurry to move back there. Japan's national health insurance covers most stuff including dental at 70%. With no deductible. And the fees you're paying 70% of are usually much lower than US.

Premium is about $250 per month. System has its problems too, but for my situation there's no comparison... just the cost of the $2000 deductible that most of the US plans have equals eight months total premiums for coverage here...

Is this looking to be the mother of all train wrecks, or what?

PS - Japan spends about 9 percent of GDP on health care, US spends 17 percent:

The ENTIRE thing is

The ENTIRE thing is ridiculous and needs to be repealed. Those who could never afford insurance, still can't. So 10s of 10000s of people will need the governments assistance to buy this. But..the government does not have the money for all of these subsidies. This entire thing is, at its base, to finally get all Americans on a list. This can not, and will not work.

I hate to break it to some of you, folks, but :

I hate to break it to some of you (maybe?) folks, but :

Obama"Care" is nothing but yet another device on the long list of those (unfinished), and unfolding and put at work to grind down your country.

It's acceleration and amplification of the "extraction" phase of the working class, to make as many more NEW dependents as possible out of it.

Unemployment is pure bluff, btw. They don't care if it secretly goes to the 20% or 30% or more. They will always find ways to hide it and use more division and demagoguery, making profit of the lowest human attitudes - envy, jealousy, resentment, you name it - between the groups of HAVEs and HAVE-NOTs. Thus, they don't care if you lose your job or business BECAUSE of ObamaCare or anything else - all they care about is making you DEPENDENT on "them" - the state.

Whatever it takes.

Really. It's just we're anywhere on the transition between steps #4 and #5 :

I'm sorry. :(

LOL. Some French would feel offended, I'm not.

But you know, the French haven't always surrendered, far from it, only during the 19th and especially the 20th centuries, and each time with the people betrayed by collectivist control freaks or other megalomaniac emperors who couldn't ever keep a serious accounting. That's how you got Florida, btw.

But we're talking about a country old of 20 centuries - twenty** - and its people, former slave tribes of a Rome they saw falling loudly. Just so happens she's aging pretty badly so far, agreed.

What concerns me the most is what will be the actual fate of today's New Rome - namely, Amerika - not far from falling her turn.

(** or, okay, old of 11 centuries "only" - depends how you count and what you consider the birth of that nation - Hugues Capet = 987 A.D.)

my last thread got no response.
I figure I pissed them off. so. I thought...

why not take a cheap shot at Cyril?

am I arrogant and cocky? and are you the same as me?

how many are aware that Democracy, is illegal in this country?

Cyril's picture

Full blown democracy is a VERY bad idea

Full blown democracy is a VERY bad idea, and I sure am very glad the founders of this country KNEW IT.

Now, the tragedy, today, is the evil of this world rules ALSO by confusion over the masses in that respect (for the sake of a collectivist agenda - you guessed it right - duh!) between an ADJECTIVE and A NOUN.

The adjective : democratic.

The noun : democracy.

And a republic is not incompatible with some limited democratic processes - but of course that does not mean that the presence of democratic processes forcibly IMPLIES that the form of government at hand is a democracy.

The USA have never been meant to be a full blown democracy where the tyranny of the 50.000001% majority coerces the unfortunate 49.999999% minorities. This is as clear as 1 + 1 = 2 on this end.

That's the gross, infuriating, lie that TPTB use with ignorant people or useful idiots.

To debunk it, often suffices to recall people that noun and adjective do not encompass the same conceptual domains in the language - the former points at the VERY specimen or type ITSELF that it names, the latter is ONLY a characteristic attribute of what is named and pointed to by the noun, among other attributes.

Some apples are red. Some other fruits are red, too.

Does that make all red fruits apples?

I get treated very poorly here. I don't write very well and type with two fingers.

I apologize if I offended.

not only Do I live in Arkansas, but I have all of my teeth and wear shoes.
we owe a lot to the french people. I am thinking that we have a statue that reflects this....

I thought it said $328 a year and nearly fell over laughing

Like I have the money sitting around to pay that.

Then I realized it's per month... are they freaking insane?!?

My humble perspective on this whole mess

If you and your family/friends/neighbors/community build a Food Forest then you won't need the "healthcare" system because you will live off healthy food that grows without maintenance and be relieved of the stress of living your life just to pay bills. Combined with Natural Building, it is possible to cheaply build your own house and ecosystem with your friends/family/community and get out of the current cultural system that turns us all into workers, consumers, patients, and coerced taxpayers instead of free, happy, healthy human beings doing whatever they want with their lives. This system we live in is a male-dominance hierarchy operated by cultural institutions, the main one being Government, and all that is needed is to discover other cultural systems that we can live in, or even create your own. For me, Permaculture is a real way out of this political/social/cultural disaster we are witnessing and experiencing.

Does this idea seem crazy? Or does it stimulate your intuition much like the philosophy of liberty did when you first discovered it?

I like how you framed your comment! Perfect.

The issue for me personally is that I like the achievements of civilization where I pay for the convenience of a professional chef in a public restaurant with a variety of dishes and where people socialize, rather than just toiling over agricultural gardens at home; some likewise have culinary interest and the knack of a 'green thumb' and though I wish them well in their prerogative, I do not have such a disposition

btw this is my opposition also to advocates of 'bugging out' because I appreciate advancement in the fine arts (ie. music concerts, museums etc) while enjoying metropolitan life

Ultimately and otherwise, my view is that the combat between oppressive government and free peopledom can no longer be ignored and if ACA is the tipping point, so be it

Appreciate your perspective

However toiling over agricultural systems has nothing to do with permaculture. In fact it is the antithesis of it. You can still have the achievements of civilization as well as cities, the only difference is that they could supply their own food cheaply. And being a musician, I would not like to see music and fine art disappear and don't think they will as long as the human spirit exists. I think modern civilization is ready to move forward without a police state and mandated "health care."

Thanks for the added insight, I'll look forward to learning more, and best ahead to you

I choose to be uninsured.

I would rather pay an additional $300 a month on a bigger house than pay for insurance.
Or maybe I could save that $300 for medical expenses. Cushion the blow if I ever need the ER again.

Aside from my rant.
I could get behind the idea of insurance if there were no deductibles or co-payments.
I guarantee, that $300 per month plan has some stupid deductible and all kinds of additional fees for service on top of your monthly fee.
Its a racket benefiting insurance companies.

With 76% of Americans living

With 76% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck (source: CNN), where does the gov expect them to get the money to pay for all of this?

Thats more expensive than the

Thats more expensive than the insurence I had through my last employer which was ok.

This is going to be a complete disaster...

They mandate that everyone get insurence but then make it so expensive that those who currently dont have and cant afford insurence wont be able to afford it anyway but this time they will be slapped with a fine for not having it.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Could someone please explain

Could someone please explain to me why when I have insurance through my husbands employer...why our premiums are going up due to Obama Care? I realize this may be an absurd question but I am so confused.

Good question.

Out of curiosity, I called a democrat senators office to ask that same question. I was told not to rely on the insurance company, but to instead refer to the goobermint web site, where it will explain how all rates will go down. I thanked her for that most honest and useful information.

Directly from the MNSure website.

I know what you’re thinking: you’re planning your escape to Wisconsin or North Dakota, right? Well that won’t work as they’re requiring the same of their citizens. The good thing is that if you’re tuned in enough to be here, you’re obviously paying attention to the news and you’re ahead of the curve. It’s important to note right now that no one has all the facts about the exchange or how everything will work there or even how all this will impact our lives in the future. Here at MNSureThing, we know quite a bit and we’ve provided a lot of information throughout our site, but we’re keeping up with the news just like everyone else!

Wtf is this?

Another good question.

With their use of words such as 'however' and 'unfortunately'.. nothing does compute :-/

In other news, obummer is on right now using words such as 'republican' and 'grandstanding'.. more stuff that does not compute.

I must be very shallow :-(

I'm in California

On this CoveredCA calculator through the exchanges, I am now set to pay roughly over $60 than I could have got through BlueShield in February, FOR THE EXACT COVERAGE (actually a higher out-of-pocket). Don't quite understand, I was not going to buy in anyway, but it is interesting to see that it REALLY WILL COST ME MORE. I also noticed as you add more children, the savings start piling up. I see now who this law really meant for here in California......

Pay the Shared Responsibility Payment

The shared responsibility payment ("tax") is a fixed dollar amount assessed by the IRS to those taxpayers that refuse to purchase health insurance. It's cheaper to pay than buying the insurance in the state exchanges.

If enough people 'opt-out', maybe there won't be enough people in the exchanges and Obamacare will fail.

I wish.

That is my hope.
I plan to pay the fine. That is unless the NewGOP can stick to their guns and shut down the government forcing a delay in the mandate.

The premiums are so high, it's laughable. As someone else already mentioned, the premiums in some areas are equal to monthly rent. Many are going to have to choose between living in their car or not complying. I wonder if the whole point is to provoke mass civil dosobedience...not by choice, but by necessity.

Um no, these prices are not

Um no, these prices are not remotely close to rent. If I can rent somewhere for only $500 a year I'm pretty sure it's somewhere I don't want to live.

Edit: wait... Am I wrong? Surely there was a miscommunication and these prices are yearly, not monthly?
