7th Grader Suspended for 2″ Arcade Toy Gun

A Rhode Island seventh grader suspended for bringing a tiny toy gun to school. Meanwhile, here in Texas, your humble scribe serves as a lunch monitor at a local elementary school. The kids are playing a new game called “guns.” Two kids face each other, seated. They tap their thighs, then bring their hands up. If their guns are cocked (if they’d tapped their thighs previously and pointed their gun fingers at the sky), they can shoot the other player. Unless the other player has his or her hands across their chest (“shield”). Shoot a shield? Tap thighs try again. Don’t forget to cock your guns. It’s fast. And yes girls and boys play. And no, the teachers and administrators don’t say a word. Two Americas.

A 12-year-old boy was suspended Thursday after a gun keychain barely larger than the size of a quarter fell out the student’s backpack at a Rhode Island middle school.

The seventh grade Shawn Feinstein Middle School student, Joseph Lyssikatos, said the small toy he won at an arcade fell out of his backpack before a classmate picked it up and starting showing others, according to WCAU-TV.

“This boy was the one waving it or showing it to other kids. Not Joseph. Joseph wasn’t doing that so why weren’t both of them reprimanded,” Bonnie Bonanno, Joseph’s step-mother, told WCAU-TV.

COVENTRY, R.I. -A 12-year-old boy was suspended from a Coventry middle school after his parents said he brought a small gun keychain to school.

Joseph Lyssikatos said the keychain was in his backpack at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School on Thursday when it fell out. A classmate picked it up and started showing it to other students.

A teacher confiscated it and before Joseph knew it, he was suspended.

** Rhetorical, and setting aside benefit of actually being away from govt indoctrination centers, WTF?? Am I even in America anymore? What is up with this insanity? If 'teachers' cannot discern a toy gun from a real gun and essentially is socially engineering children with semantics absurdity and confusion, they're hardly qualified to be around developing minds: these are mind-rapist/pedophiles, no worse than actual pedophiles!

What drunk Chris was trying to say is...

This particular story about the keychain was the straw that made me put this nagging thought - how kids are getting out of school just by pointing their fingers - 'on paper.'

Apparently it's a hit. Thanks belong to YOU.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

I can play backup or I can play lead...

Good man. Good lead. You know what you said about this 2-quarter - sized pistol in the hands of this obvious civil nuisance made me think about some things. That being said...

Because of you I made up my thing about the kindergartners and such with their packpackpistolpackpacks.

So theirs yer civic-trree?

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

The kid said "We know that it was wrong"

So there ya go.

Creativity for a movement opposing these anti-American trends among schools is HIGHLY needed.
