Ride for the Constitution takes place Oct. 11 - 13, Washington DC. Thousands of truckers will convoy. Truckers demand restoration of the Constitution and ask supporters to buy nothing for those three days.

Truck Driver Strikes of 1979

As the U.S. began to ration oil in response to the crisis, President Richard Nixon also led the push for a national 55 mph speed limit. This combination of events pushed many truckers to the brink of financial ruin. In December 1973, independent truckers initiated a strike with former trucker, Mike Parkhurst, leading the movement. The citizen's band (CB) radio, which became a symbol of the iconic 1970s trucker, was a useful tool in spreading the word to other independent truckers and organizing traffic jams to clog major transportation arteries. In 1976, the primary union for truck drivers, the Teamsters, called for a nationwide strike over disputes about wages. It ended after just three days when a new contract was ratified, allowing for a cost-of-living increase and a 30 percent wage hike that would be spread over the next three years. This was, of course, still the era when trucking and the airlines were under government regulation, similar to public utilities. Routes that existed and who could drive them (or in the case of airlines, fly them) were controlled by the government. By the end of the decade, both airline and trucking deregulation would become federal law.

1979

My father and I were running a truckstop when the strike happened. There was some pretty rough stuff that happened in the parking lot to the scabs that took the bait and drove during the strike. There are very few Owner Operators to scab it off in these times.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Convoy

Sodbuster, you wanna put that micro bus

behind that suicide jockey? Hes haullin dynamite, he needs all the help he can get. LOL

Thanks!

love that song!

If you can't make it to DC on those days...

each and every person should go to their state capitol, their city hall, or county courthouse. We should all write letters to our newspaper editors and police dept. on those days and mail copies in to every other newspaper that we can. Lets start encouraging others to do this now.

Not just that, but they are asking us to buy nothing for those

3 days, stock up on food and stuff beforehand. The idea is to hit congress in the pocketbook of its banker elite masters. We can show what the People can do when we get together and we mean business.

OH

I just listened a little further and he said the same thing :)~

Truckers need to be aware of

Truckers need to be aware of vast changes are coming... not to fear these changes, but to acknowledge reality. Delivery trucks, taxis and other types of business and service vehicles will be automated very soon and these people need to start educating themselves to adapt to this new reality.

The Constitution? You mean

The Constitution? You mean the document that the gov uses to justify everything it does because that's what ultimately has happened to all constitutions throughout history? Don't make me laugh.

Instituting our Constitution compared to what we had prior, was the greatest centralization of power in our nation's history. Why would we want to return to what has already failed? The argument should be to ending the Constitution, and more precisely, the federal leviathan it created. FYI, the Constitutional Convention was financed by banksters after scaring the people in the individual colonies through currency crises they created because false flags didn't just start yesterday.

Tom Woods had a great article today on Lew Rockwell and I suggest anyone who still thinks The Constitution is the path to liberty and freedom to read it:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/2013/09/no_author/do-you-know-who...

The only option for those of us who want a chance at having real liberty and freedom is to eliminate the federal government all together and to return to something far weaker like the AOC. Of course, along with this must come the elimination of mandated gov fiat money and then letting the free market decide what it want to use as currency. What little gov is left wouldn't be able to just put people into debt by inflation confiscation, they will have to actually seize assets and tax and you can't do that without people noticing. Doing that alone would solve many of our issues.

Return the power to the states and then let people vote with their feet. Hell, if the people were really smart even the states would be broken up into smaller manageable chunks by the market and then let those chunks compete with each other to offer services. Don't like your service provider? Choose another or don't opt into one at all. That's the only long-term option for freedom loving people; the smallest government possible, competition, and the ability to have close proximity to those who wish to govern so those people are actually accountable to their constituents.

It really is that simple, so don't be tricked by The Constitutionalist religion. See Ron Paul quote in my sig.

"In reality, the Constitution itself is incapable of achieving what we would like in limiting government power, no matter how well written."

~ Ron Paul, End the Fed

Tom Woods, points out the fatal flaw in the constitution

Interesting quote from the Tom Woods interview, "it’s utopian to think that if you have a government, and you have a document that’s supposed to restrain that government but that government interprets that document, what on earth do you think is going to happen?"

So what options do the people have to correct it?

A Well Regulated {LOCAL} Militia,

Being necessary to {enforce} the security of a free state, etc. etc. {2nd Amendment U.S. Constitution}

The state by state National Guard, was the last remnants of the original local militia, until Mr. Bush nationalized it:

I don't think the truckers are getting into a polemical

...discussion on the organization of government. Watch the video and he is clearly referring to what many people think of when they think "Constitution," the Bill of Rights. If you don't want to fight for your rights fine, I'll fight for mine. But lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Release the Sandy Hook video.

I agree with your sentiment,

in that I am an anarchist and don't believe in the existence of any government. However, if the feds actually obeyed the constitution (including the entire Bill of Rights to the letter), do you not think that the federal government would be much smaller and less tyrannical than it is now? Not to say this is even possible. I agree that the feds will use any excuse, including their interpretation of the constitution, to enable tyranny.

How Can Truckers Be Heard In D. C. ?

As they drive in or near D. C. put their JAKE brakes on, or better yet disconnect the muffler in low speeds.
We need to be heard !

That was fantastic!

I pray all those people he called out to joins him. He was inspiring. I like the fact that the Senate dems may shut down the government this week and the people will shut down the government the next. Best October Surprise evuh!

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

It nearly moved me to tears

...even acknowledging 'our lives are not important compared to whether our children and grandchildren grow up free.' (paraphrase.)

Yes the giant has awoken. Praise the Lord.
