Booth review is BS!

And that's all I have to say about that.

Preamble

Other than that it is another concession, to The Machine. The Digital Technium, as Kevin Kelly calls it. The Digital Machine that has come to envelop everything we do, right down the actions on the football field.

With the aid of machines, man's decision are second guessed. The whole flow of everything is disrupted by "Booth Review."

And then, after 5 minutes of commercials, the "Officials" come back and say: "That touchdown we just called. Yeah, that wasn't a touchdown."

And I don't say that because this particular booth review went against the Pats - it was moot in the end anyway.

Declaration

Booth Review is a surrender of our Liberty to live spontaneously in the movement.

Booth Review is the Technium, reaching down onto the field, to exert its control.

If we want to talk about conspiracies, this should be right up above them:

We're being stalked by a superior species (The Digital Technium) that we created.

Jokey ending so you don't get too freaked out just yet:

And that, my friends, is why Booth Review is BS!

Yeah, and with all those angles...

It still takes five minutes to complete the Booth review.

I ain't even mad, my Pats

The only reason I got cable back was to watch the game every Sunday.

Sorry Michael .....I just noticed ths

but for the future.

I don’t know if it's every game….but go to whatever network the game is on …dot com and search for the live game you what to watch. If it is being streamed, I will usually (usually I just discovered this, so only games so far) but they provide either an end zone view or all 22. If you trail your TV by about 5 or 6 seconds you have your own personal instant replay…..but from the end zone you get a really good view of the pass and run blocking, which is what I like. The all 22 view gives a great look at pass coverage and route combinations.

Check it out.

NBC streams the sunday night

NBC streams the sunday night games in really high quality n you can switch between like 5 camera angles..it's pretty cool - you should check it out

Michael Nystrom's picture

How much is it

You can switch between all those camera angles yourself?

Sounds kind of like work. I think I'd rather have an editor. I want to drink a beer and just watch, lol.

haha...the main, normally

haha...the main, normally edited one is there too...sunday night games are free - but yeah you can switch between cameras yourself too...also pause/rewind,etc. like dvr

I watched the awful Giants today on computer...

I moved to S.Carolina last year from CT, and the Giants games aren't televised down here. They don't even show the Carolina games for some reason. Atlanta is who we get as the local team.

I was able to find the giants game streaming live his afternoon. Lots of pop-ups ads to navigate through and delete, but I found it free. Not that it was worth it.

You guys (Pats) never have a bad year. If we had your coaching we would have at least 4 Superbowls in the Eli era. I would trade Tom Coughlin for Bill Belicek in a heart-bet.

gigstreams.net - stream

gigstreams.net - stream schedules - "other" tab...you can always find the game you want in ok quality. Make sure you block pop-ups, have adblock, and a decent antivirus program, but I used it for like every game last year n a few this year...got local channels on tv now so i've been able to watch ma bears w/ out the hassle and in way better quality, but it's definitely good if you have no tv service or your team isn't broadcast locally

Thanks for the tip, will hopefully save me from searching...

For some reason we can't build a team up here

I get the Pats wanting to get cheap talent. They find diamonds in the rough, polish them, but then don't want to pay to keep them.

Case in point, Welker today, with 2TDs for Denver, and Woodhead, also 2TDs for the Chargers.

I was actually rooting for Eli & the Giants in 2007. I hadn't learned to like the Pats yet, lol.

Funny being a transplant. Which team to support? I was still a Seahawk. Now I guess I realize, I can be both.

He's the man.

The Pats are a very smart franchise, sometimes too smart...

That's so true. The Pats always try to let a guy go just before he starts downhill part of his career. Sometimes though they let them go a bit too soon, like with Welker, Richard Seymour, Patrick Chung (debatable) etc... They also have history of bringing in guys at the end of their career, to squeeze the last bit of juice left in them... like Randy Moss, Junior Seau, Corey Dillon, etc... but not as much last few years.

You guys just need another good wideout this year. Amendola was looking good before he got hurt. Good replacement for Welker right there. Welker is just a great route runner.

I feel like the Giants are not even trying to be good as an organization this year. The roster they put together was lousy, and the coaching has been weak, and the players are not responding.

The Pats still have great coaching and tremendous leadership. But their front office could have done more to help out Brady. I know they had a tough off season, and they signed Amendola... Anyway they are doing pretty good, as usual, like clockwork in New England...

Here is a perfect example

The Thompkins touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Every scoring play is subject to review. It just isn't necessary.

Just because we have a technology doesn't mean we should use it.

He's the man.

I wouldn't mind reviews that much...

If they didn't take (seriously) 10 times as long as they ought to.

You want to have some fun with reviews? Actually time how much longer it takes them to make the decision that it takes you to make a decision. Usually just one slow-mo replay is enough for me and it takes about 5-10 seconds...while it takes them least 1.5 minutes.

Waiting for them on an obvious review is like waiting for the damn red light to change when there's no one to wait for...don't get me started on that.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Yes - that is for certain. They take forever

There must be a whole chain of command that has to clear up there before the decision comes down. Why else would it take so long. Like you said, you look at one or two replays, and for the most part - it is over.

I wonder if they can somehow program a computer to make the call. Something like Watson, or Deep Blue.

How would you feel about Booth Reviews then? Curious. If computers made the call, and overruled the call on the field?

He's the man.

I would need to know more info before forming an opinion...

In principle, I'm not opposed to using computers...depends on how accurate they are and how they would affect the flow of the game.

More likely, I could see computers, gps, laser beams, etc assisting the refs on things like feet out of bounds, ball breaking the plane, field goals straight over the upright, false starts, offsides, or some other black and white type calls. Not sure how computers could help with judgements like holding, late hits, pass interference, etc...but who knows how good computers could get.

It would be quite a bit different if it was all done by computers though...can you imagine no human refs? That would sure change the feel of the game...not sure how I feel about that actually.

My Gmen are 0-4

Not a good season so far.

Giants fans aren't used to losing the way we have been.

Besides all that sometimes I really think it's just rigged.

Michael Nystrom's picture

I saw that. I imagine that must be rough

0-4 is hard.

It almost seems like a fluke that the Pats are 3-0. They won their first two games by a total of 5 points.

Tonight is a good test. Even though Atlanta is 1-2, I still consider them a good team.

20-10 now in the 3rd, Pats up. Lets see if they can hold on, and then they'll be 4-0.

He's the man.

Booth Review is also a money grab - Consider your statement...

"...And then, after 5 minutes of commercials, the "Officials" come back and say: "That touchdown we just called. Yeah, that wasn't a touchdown."

OR ... after 5 minutes of commercials, they claim that the ruling on the field stands.

Either way they rule it, it translates into probably MILLIONS of extra ad revenue for the NFL.

Michael - Did you see the Seahawks today? It was an incredible comeback win by the team from your old stomping grounds.

Three of our offensive front were out with injuries so Wilson had to run for his life all day and run he did!
