I'm at a loss about what to do about the Granger

After all, she's been here so long. User #408.

And let's face it, we're all here for one reason: We all supported Ron Paul for President. That is, and will always be, our forever bond - no matter where we go, or where we end up.

People are moving on their separate ways. Like dandelion seeds to the wind. I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt with a dinosaur on it, and the words, "All my friends are dead."

Sometimes I feel like that here. So many people have come through these doors at the DP. And then, they just disappear into the ether. But it was all they they ever were - parts of the ether. I never saw them, spoke with them, seen the idiosyncrasies of their movement or dress. No physical representation, aside from what I've crafted in my mind.

Remember '07? That will always be the highlight for me, because it was an original creation. So many things unfolded spontaneously, and beautifully. The Ron Paul Blimp remains a stellar achievement of that era. The Rudy Giuliani Game Changer.

Completely spontaneous. The Granger was there for '07.

2012 was so much more scripted. A template had been laid, and had to be followed. Everyone expected it. They even expected the blimp to be back. That's just suffocating.

Having to follow a script, I mean. Boring. Generally.

- - - -

The Daily Paul, also is in unchartered water. We have the scripts here - scripts of how we behave. It is boring. Predictable.

I'm done fighting with people. Nothing personal. Its just that 8 years of it takes its toll. I'm tired.

I don't want to come in here and see someone in a rage about their pet topic, mowing people down. I don't like seeing people reflexively downvoting people, just because of who they are. Then again, I was reminded (by The Granger) that I jumped on top of the pig pile at the end as well.

And so I did. Because I'm sick of the dogma.

I feel like I should ask her if she wants to come back and explain what happened. Because I don't get it. Somebody joked that the Granger was the only person ever to go from Ron Paul to being a neo-con.

I want to know what happened.

Granger, do you want to tell us?

Perhaps there aren't lightening rods to bring people together

long enough.

The first presidential campaign was not templated, must have been excited bringing people together.

Now there are diverging interests, which is a good thing, but no intense focus for any sustained period of time.

I see the big issues/interests here as war/peace, the Fed, food supply, gold/silver, Rand Paul, 2nd amendment, homeschooling, liberty infringements in general.

While there is Peace, Gold Love, those themes don't dominate. This site covers those and a lot in between.

I think I'd get tired not just because of 8 years but because of the wide range of topics. It's too much for one person to get invigorated and instead brings you down.

Sorry, btw, thanks for hosting this site and for all your efforts.

I am pretty much in

agreement with SJ...well said.

Would like to add...let people have their opinions as long as a post does not disparage another person...opinions are just that, opinions. How can we take something like that away from an individual? Kinda silly and counter-productive to the liberty movement.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Do Nothing, Michael

The Granger was an ardent Zionist, which as many of us well know is an extreme racist ideology. Nearly everyone on here has seen several of the thousands of videos showing outrageous atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinians. The fact that Granger defends this ideology is deeply disturbing.

There is no debate on Zionism. The videos posted everywhere showing their actions don't lie. The Zionists are far, far worse than the regime they were launched from, the Nazis. Failure to acknowledge this based on all the evidence out there is a discredit to all forms of truth and decency.

I'm glad she's gone and if she ever returns, then I'm gone. A long time ago, I used to laugh with my buddies and poke fun at the kids throwing rocks at the Israelis when I was back in college. Now that I have become informed about the reality in Israel - thanks in large part to this site - I will spend the rest of my life opposing those who believe in our support Zionism or any other form of racism. Individual rights, as well all know, is the only ideology worth fighting for.

I say grow a pair, stop second guessing deeply confused individuals like The Granger, and move on. Defending Granger is Defending Zionism, IMO. You've provided all of us with a great service, Michael. Please don't waste any of your time stirring the pot on this kind of stuff.

Jeremy

Nuclear Kid,

why in the world would you be gone, if Granger is back? How can one person keep you out of this beautiful website? Don't be over dramatic.

I agree with you that the Israeli government is pretty much a form of State run terrorism.

To defend Granger's right to be here is not at all same thing as defending Zionism. Why don't you just ignore her or block her if you cannot stand her.

It's going to read something like

"RON PAUL told us to take over the GOP, and this liberty movenemt is going nowhere! Teh GOP is liek so great guys and i'm accomplishing seeew much more htna anyone else! Having a miniscule amounnt of political pull within a sparesly populated farming community makes me so influental and an important politikul insider. Israel is great btw and anyone wh disagrees hate jews and puppies and apple pie!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JEEBUS (and Romney!)"

On a serious note; why don't people just let it go? Results matter, intent does not.

I mean yeah, I'm sure we've all wondered just WTF happened with her; popular opinion seems to be that the GOP replaced her brain with tapioca pudding.

Whatever though. She's a big gal and at least she owns her actions. I'll give her that much.

HEY! WAKE UP, PEOPLE!

What part of this discussion is over don't you get? Michael already made his decision. (See my comments below).

Michael made the topic less than 24 hours ago

If he wants to stop the discussion, he'll freeze the thread.

We saw it, lol

She has taken on a new username so as a new user she will be judged from this point as all new users are. She is entitled to at least that as we all were I would think?

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

New user name? Not that I saw.

What about fishyculture, skippy d, Cirocco and BigT? Are they, too, not entitled to that? I would certainly hope so.

I was

flabbergasted when Celeste got banned!! Celeste?? The sweetest, most gentle non-argumentative person I've ever "met". No, I never met her in person, but we did converse some outside of the Daily Paul. We have a few interests in common...

Btw, what happened to Quilts, another sweetie??!!

!

Not sure about Celeste, but I'm fairly sure that Quiltingsando wasn't banned, she just became inactive for whatever reason.

quiltingsando . . .

I don't know why she left, but I think she got really discouraged about the turn of the elections; I hope that doesn't sound patronizing--

I sensed that she didn't like secrets and shadow governments--

I think she was trying to become more self-reliant. I felt we were on similar tracks--

sort of pulling inward--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Thanks for the insight, it's always appreciated 1988vote (both of you) :)

Yeah, I guess I can see why one one get discouraged posting here, or any other political site for that matter. It almost becomes a sort of depressing routine to come online everyday just to talk about how screwed up everything and everybody is...

I think it's good practice to 'leave' for a few weeks/months every so often-- to shift focus to the more positive aspects of life and what the world has to offer. Cheers.

Many come back...

as new usernames over and over, for awhile they display new found respect for the DP and other members. Most are on to them right away but treat them as new users. Then late at night they display the traits that got them in trouble in the first place. At that point new username or not they become the person they were in the past lifetime here. I have seen Michael put up with more of those than I personally ever would. Michael has played with that yoyo with more patience than most would. How many times would you allow it before you drew a line?

Same user name in this case.

Why can't the others be invited back with their same user names? I do agree with you but, that isn't the point. The Granger was ALLOWED back in. Why not the others?

Then there are two

Then she is back with her original and an alias. Read around a bit. Only Michael can answer your question. I do not know why.

Why are you begging for this

Why are you begging for this trolling mental case to come back?

Some long time posters stay on a site for too long, become contrarians and devolve into outright trolling and attention wh0ring. This is not the first time I've seen this happen, here or elsewhere.

Some people are just mentally ill and you will see it become acute before your very eyes.

The site is better off now.

Let's get on the same page

Did The Granger leave because of a ban, or did she just leave in a huff with much fanfare?

Was she banned for her beliefs as some are inferring here? If not, let's please stop clouding the issue.

Did she heed the posting rules, or was she attacking rudely as others here seem to do with impunity?

Can you post on this site and others that we are racists and hatemongers at the Daily Paul and still be invited back by its owner? How does that happen?

Are the rules of civility and respectful disagreement enforced here? Why is the foul language and flame baiting allowed without restriction?

Just askin'.

In response to your question,

"Can you post on this site and others that we are racists and hatemongers at the Daily Paul and still be invited back by its owner?" YES.

And, "How does that happen?" Like this: http://www.dailypaul.com/user/408

I like the Granger

Not for her views, but because she would say what her views are. Plus, I relate to her in that I think she's the only one who gets reflexively downvoted more than me. lol I don't know what she's been up to lately but usually her posts are contrary, not rude.

I noticed a big change

in this site when upvoting and downvoting came to exist..

I liked the climate here much better without that..

While I am at it.. I would also modify at least non donating accounts ability to view how long other members/accounts have been here

These two things seem to be constantly & continually pointless argument starting points

The benefits just isn't worth the drama

YES!!

Yes, regarding the upvote/downvote. It's a net negative. Mob mentality.

Agree with upvoting and

Agree with upvoting and downvoting for sure.

Ventura 2012

I've been here 6 years. I don't care for the up/down vote thing

I read the site often, but I rarely post here anymore because I've pretty much given up on politics, and seems that those who disagree want to attack rather than discuss.

When I joined DP, I did so because of Dr. Paul. During his presidential runs, the members of this site were enthusiastic about helping him become President. They were unified, at least for that cause.

Now it seems that many folks post things to challenge and attack.

So I guess that although we all agree on Ron Paul, we've let our differences divide us, just like the rest of the people out there. It's sad, really, because we are the very people who should encourage intelligent, polite, civil discussions. If someone posts an opinion and people disagree, instead of attacking, perhaps ask questions. Often you will find that the person's stance will not hold up under scrutiny.

I do not like the up and down vote thing. I think it tends to create division, not encourage discussion.

Just my .02.
