Why are so many congressmen not running for reelection in 2014?

While researching congress critters and their records, it struck me odd how so many "longtime" critters like Carl Levin and others are not running for reelection. Rats jumping a sinking ship?

One great thing comes from this....

think of all the old timers who have been stealing, and pludering our country for so long as a breath of fresh air to see them go. Frank, Dodd, Lieberman and many others have bolted and are spending their ill gotten gains in Israel or some such. We will know where to find them when the trials get going for their crimes...Other die hards such as Pelosi, McInsane and others will have to be carried off.

not "jumping ship"

its "cashing in". They want their entitlements...probably will use the retirement FRN's to buy real things like property, gold& silver and other commodities.
I am sure we will see many of them re-surface in the lobbying world getting their second helping.

I think the multi-term

I think the multi-term congresspeople are going to jump on the golden trough retirement pensions before the writing on the wall strips their ability to run and to strip their excessive overpaid pensions.

Yes, one of three things imo

1) Rats jumping a sinking ship: after they helped punch holes in the boat

2) Have been bribed / threatened via NSA sourced intelligence to drop out.

3) Both

Their designated, hand picked

Their designated, hand picked replacements will be running against them.

are finished.

Maybe

because all they need is at least five years of service to be vested in a cushy pension plan which includes a cost of living increase unlike regular pension.

And it's getting harder to be a lying prostitician these days as more Americans wake up and pay closer attention. Easier to get your 5 min years in and then be a govt *consultant* and they still have access to influence and insider information to take advantage.
