Ron Paul Is Auctioning Off His 1979 Chevrolet Chevette That Sent Tip O'Neil Through the Roof

We’ll have a nice turnover ceremony at the FREE office in Clute, Texas, that we’ll photograph, and I’ll also present you with a Congressional license plate that was actually used on the car.

So drive history forward, and make your pledge, mailing it to FREE, 837 W. Plantation, Clute, TX 77531 or email it to free1776@comcast.net or phone 979.265.3034

Bidding is only at 15k for the Dr.'s Chevette!

If I had that much extra cash I'd jump on this thing and drive it proudly, unfortunately I don't at the moment. Trying to build a house without a mortgage attached to it. :) Someone get out there and bid this thing up to about 20k!

Just got an email back about the ole Chevette.

I put my bid in the other day and requested the high bid, just in case someone was seriously interested. I am, but it's a little out of my league at the moment. Right now there are two bids for 10K, if anyone is interested. Have a great day.

Was My first car too

Mine was blue. Bought it in 1978 for $3300 new drove it 6 years including 10,000 in one month when I moved to Texas. My wife totaled it when an 18 wheeler ran over it (wife just had a concussion)and got $2300 from the insurance company. All in all was the best car I owned for the money.

Do your best have no expectations

Guess Ron took to heart Reagan's advice on color selection:

“Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?”

Imagine if he drove it while wearing this:

Just saw this picture on facebook

btw, after all these years on Daily Paul, I, at this moment am coming out of the closet. My name is Mike Czysh. My Polish last name(half German) is one of the reasons I did not go with my real name(my immediate family pronounce it sish)
I invite all those whom may care to go to my facebook page, go to Mike Czysh.
If you want to see the crew that travelled from Wisconsin & Upper Michigan to Tampa, go to Randy Molini's facebook page or scroll down mine...I'm the one way on left with tee that says "Write-In Ron Paul 2008. You may also find my comments about the Ron Paul Chevette.

Tips Lincoln Town Car would be cool to own too

Plus, it probably has a custom built bar in the back, second only to Teds Oldsmobile, but that's another story.

Too Cool!!

Ron Paul really is the coolest.

That was my first car

..except mine was brown. :(

How cool would that be?

I put my "pledge" in! I'd love to have the ole "Green Pea"!

I seem to remember Carol Paul saying the family referred to

this car as the "Green Pea"

Read the back story.... Ron Paul totally ticked-off

Tip O'Neal for showing his elitist colors during the 70's energy "crisis". Man, if people still used dictionaries, Ron's pic would be next to the definition of COOL.

This is Great..!!!

Love the pics...!!!

:)

nice vette.
