New here, a bit intimidated

Hi all, wanted to introduce myself (do people do that on this site?) I'm a new member of the DP though I've been following the site for quite some time. I'm a young mother and wife and I live in the last frontier of Wyoming! Like I said I have been reading the DP religiously for probably over a year so it's about time I supported Michael and the cause. I say I'm intimidated because I am new to the movement and I look up to you all, but I am happy to finally get in on the conversation. Cheers!

Welcome to the DP!

May your stay be long, and your debates be fruitful and without acrimony. I am really happy to see new people join. Some DP'ers can be intimidating, but I think it's more of a characteristic of internet culture than just the DP though. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have.

Wait......what?! A woman?!...

..... It must be a troll account. We all know there's no women involved in the liberty movement! ;-) *Sarcasm*

The DP is a great site, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Welcome :)

I would be interested in hearing about your background and how you came to the movement.

Grew up in a conservative

Grew up in a conservative home (I think, we never talked about it) but I grew up in Boulder County Colorado, land of the liberals. I never really formed an opinion on anything other that hot topics- gay marriage, abortion etc. Anyway, when I met my husband he intorduced me to some family friends that are libertarians, which was something I had never experienced and had no knowledge. I spent much time talking with him about politics during which time I realized that *GASP!* the government was not what I thought it was. I learned of Ron Paul, started doing my own research and came into my own. I don't really know what I would call myself, a constitutionalist I guess. But it was really through our family friend that I was lead away from the herd. And I thank him for that.

The anarchists and wacko

The anarchists and wacko birds are taking over!

Welcome friend.

Welcome to The Fold my dear

Nothing to fear here. We are all just a bunch of Voluntarist idiots that promote a world free of force, fraud and coercion. No need to be intimidated.

No need to be intimidated. It's a plethora of different personalities and opinions in here, but it's usually civil lol.... I'm sure you'll find your niche :)

welcome to the jungle

OF LOVE.... lol

Does Wyoming have a state tax? And what does property tax look like on the frontier? I'm keeping a list of places to peace out too. when crap starts to get even more ridiculous then it is now. Goal is to make $0.00 and thrive....

Love it here!

Come to Wyoming! No income taxes here. Property taxes are super low in my county... We pay $750 for 2.5 acres of land. Freakin crazy after growing up in Boulder County CO where taxes are through the roof.

Wow, so my property taxes are

Wow, so my property taxes are about 22 times yours down here in SE Va, but I do get free trash pickup and failing public schools, so I'll call it a wash.

Wyoming is beautiful

Though, I, personally, love trees too much to move there. Besides Yellowstone, my favorite place in WY is Thermopolis.

Wyoming has no income tax ...

... but they do have a property tax.

Wyoming is great, and another interesting one is South Dakota, where there is no income tax AND they recently tried to outlaw property tax, too (did not pass, but by a narrow margin).

Rapid City has a nice climate relative to other places in the region, but prices are higher because the area is booming.

Lol we live in northeast

Lol we live in northeast Wyoming and we go to Rapid City for everything.

Most deer I ever saw in an hour's time - driving to the border from Hulett on highway 24 - pronghorn too, very surreal, great memory, thanks!

Hi keeks,

I hope you have as much fun here as I have had over the last 18 months.
Sometimes it can get a little harrowing if you are thin skinned, as some passionate members can knock the breath out of you, but really it is nothing.
I have learned so very much since I came here, and everyday I learn more.
I hope you love it here.

"a bit intimidated"

I think we all are by this "R3volution started by Ron Paul.

Welcome ...

... we need more people from Wyoming, probably the freest state in the union.

Which is exactly why I moved here. I was in big cities before moving here a couple months back and I was so sick of it. Too crowded, too many liberals and I like my guns so here we are lol

don't be intimidated, hon. You just need to grow some very thick skin here. It's hard to believe that at one time I was shy and a bit 'backward', as they say.

Now I'm too mouthy. I do know, however, that frequently when one is changing their ways, one goes too far in the opposite direction for awhile...then must backtrack a bit. I hope I'm on the backtrack now! I think I am! ;)

You? Shy? I missed that somehow, lol

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

It was either before you joined...or perhaps it was when I was a young lassie. I'm having a senior moment and cannot recall which...

Good to see you here! please remember that it is all just words. Try not to let folks "get your goat" as they say,lol They sometimes have trouble showing it but deep down they actually love each other.

Nice to have you here.

Or can you elaborate on the intimidation factor?

You guys are a lot smarter

You guys are a lot smarter than me. I may be eaten alive :)

How is that smart stuff measured?

Why would someone, who was so smart, eat you alive?

Here in this forum there are sources of useful information, and if there are cannibals too, and the cannibals are smart, then by that measure almost everyone else is dumber than a doorknob.

If the idea is to share information, consume the highest quality and lowest cost information, avoid the lower quality and higher cost information, then limiting (by eating) the messengers offering competitive information would, by that act, defeat the purpose, such as the saying goes concerning the goose that lays the golden eggs.

What are any other possible sources of intimidation, if you can elaborate please?

Welcome, to the r3VOLution!!!
