Hollywood film actor James Woods slammed President Obama today in a torrent of tweets which dismantle Obama’s rhetoric.

The President should probably keep mum about "non-essentials" being furloughed. He could be out of a job.

James Woods ✔ @RealJamesWoods
A partial shutdown of a ridiculously bloated federal government is oddly ironic. What happens when nothing really happens?

Smart.

Well, being one of the smartest people in the world it shouldn't have been very hard for him to reach those conclusions:

This looped image of President Obama

is a nice visual to go along with Woods' comment:

I found that link in a reply on some other thread. It was a while ago, and the president still hasn't found a way to get back in! :)

Sure, I can:

Sure, I can:

Here's an actor :

Here's a jester :

But that's just my personal taste.

so, they are not one and the same."entertainers"

can i attribute this observation to you?

Well, both are liars by profession, of course

Well, both are liars by profession, of course.

As I see it, that's just the latter wants to believe he has wit and he is funny, while the former is supposed to perform is best to render the character of his script and make us buy into it.

Both can succeed or fail, but it's also true the jester often looks up to actors with envy, much less often the other way round.

As for James Woods anyway, I sure appreciate he spent most of his time doing his job with talent, IMO, sharing about his political views only in the most animated times - like, today.

The other, the jester, didn't seem to bring us much but the same lame, unimaginative, ideological noise as regurgitated by hundreds others like him.

I could cite plenty of those, in French version, for example.

While I can't think of another James Woods.

Again, just IMO.

Help! only a Frenchman can save me!

I have been VICIOUSLY attacked for suggesting there is a difference between Art and Entertainment! (see below)

A noble form of entertainment, maybe

I believe art is essentially a (the?) noble form of entertainment.

One that speaks also to the soul, and not just the senses.

But again, not everybody even agrees on what "soul" encompasses, granted.

The age of Enlightenment.. primarily French and English driven?

yes?, and the concept of Liberty was derived by thus?
so, it was the Gauls and the Visigoths?

it was the French who gave us that statue NOBODY knows why it is there...
THAT is Art.

please consider it a sign of respect that I am..... "pushing your buttons"?
(words escape me at the moment friend)

This is a tiring neverending story

Trust me, the French have been way overrated for almost two centuries.

In politics or economics, for instance, Bastiat was among the very few and the last to bring us anything worth consideration in the domain of ideas and principles. And that was 160+ years ago.

Most of all others of any fame until today were nothing but disgusting collectivists, IMO.

As for our contributions to arts and sciences, I believe the importance of these are pretty subjective anyway, and have always been only loosely related to man's state of civilization.

The Romans at the end of their empire already had engineers and the seeds for our modern science of medicine, yet also found ways to bribe and dumb down their people with Bread and Circuses barely less sophisticated than ours today.

While this country, the USA, was given birth on a promising path to liberty and justice, the French were already back on track towards new demagogues or tyrants with new fashions in plunder and social decay.

For an eloquent example, Edmund Burke had kindly predicted the complete failure of the French revolution (for justice and prosperity) as it started and more than ten years before they get yet another emperor after rivers of innocent blood being spilled.

The genocide in the French War of Vendee in the 1790s predated everything that Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and others would do more than a century and half later against their people.

Do I need to mention almost nobody bothered paying attention to Burke's letters of warning just before the time?

Likewise, the abortion of the American idea started in 1913, even before the soviets come with their own Gosbank a decade later, and 70 years before their collapse, yet our good Dr. Ron Paul's realization and alarm signals since 1971 couldn't get any much attention from you, dear Americans, until late in the 2000s.

History's stutter is tiring.

Eloquently stated. and also concise and to the point.

but look at what is happening!
you should have joy in your heart! I like to Joust with you!
I have abandoned the technical sections of the DP.

the political twin concepts of both "natural law" and "Liberty" are blossoming. that is why we are here, NO?

I have PROOF positive that the french at least understand.....
(or did at one point in time....)

our mission, dear sir, should you decide to accept it.
is is stated at the top of this website.
for a better understanding, you will need to read the words that are inscribed around the top of the Jefferson memorial in DC.

how I know what is written there will require a bottle of whiskey, and a campfire.

peace.

I do try to stay positive.

I do try to stay positive. It's just easier said than done these days, especially when you're a parent of little ones. Many will relate, I think.

Still, let's keep standing, yes.

did you not get the memo? "truth is subject to perspective"

and just what part of my preposition, did you take as a supposition?

How about you?

I've seen you post videos of musicians before...and musicians are 'entertainers'.

Ooh, let me guess, it's okay for you to like 'entertainers', but nobody else, right?

Because we all know that anyone who entertains, has been entertained, or ever will be entertained is obviously some sort of moron-- certainly no match for your rapier wit.

A signature used to be here!

hah

you said "rapier"... nice

and I thought I was just having fun.

Mr. Woods

I always liked James Woods and now I like him even more.
