The Confederation of Free and Independent City-States of AmericaSubmitted by RobHino on Tue, 10/01/2013 - 22:33
You know, I'm starting to believe that revolution is not what is necessary. When we constantly just revolve around and around and around within a broken system, the good people we send to DC eventually become corrupted because of the machine which consumes them. I'm starting to think instead of revolution, we need evolution.
We need to evolve past the need, the supposed need, for a monopoly State to provide the various services societies require. There should be competition in law, competition in the judicial system, and definitely competition in law enforcement. When we grant an artificial monopoly of law creation to bureaucrats, we lose sovereignty over ourselves and our localities.
I imagine an America where there are thousands of free and independent City States, loosely bound in several confederations for defensive purposes. Imagine if you could pick a city that suited your values and morals. It can be a compromise between those who love and those who loathe government!
How do you envision the evolution from where we are in regards to how our species governs ourselves? Would this form of a confederation be better or worse than the union we have now under the Constitution? What are some flaws and potential problems?
I think it'd be interesting to have an experimental free, city-state in say, Detroit! If the government waived the income tax and all federal jurisdiction of Detroit, I think that would turn it around pretty quickly! What say you?
This is my small business!
