NJ: Lonegan Vs Booker Debate! Today! Fri, 10/4 At 1PM, Livestream!

WATCH the BOOKER-LONEGAN DEBATE!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4 at 1:00 PM from TRENTON NJ
LIVESTREAM: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/livenow?id=9273713

Debate will re-air SUNDAY at 11:00AM on ABC and Philadelphia’s WPVI TV

The media has been trying to keep this quiet - I haven't seen any advertisements from local stations!
Check out this statement from politico:

"Working in Booker’s favor is the fact that the debate is on a Friday, in the middle of the day. It won’t be widely broadcast, meaning most voters will learn about it from the media. It minimizes the potential impact of any gaffe or slip-up."

Candidates for the New Jersey Senate seat formerly held by the late Senator Frank Lautenberg, Cory Booker (D) and Steve Lonegan (R), debated various issues.

No, it's the second and last debate between them.

Right now, Lonegan is the best ultra liberal NJ can do but, he isn't "one of us". Read my comments below from the first debate.

Compared to the rest of the country, NJ seems like something out of a sci fi horror film. Booker is just too confident of a victory to allow me to believe the fix isn't in (called "business as usual" in NJ). However, I do have some hope that voter turnout will be very low on the 16th and if our people come out in big numbers, Lonegan might, just might, have a chance. On the other hand, I got my sample ballot in the mail last week. There are an unbelievable number of candidates running for that senate seat. Diebold will flip a lot of Lonegan's votes and distribute them to the many other candidates, giving Booker the win. God knows I hope I'm wrong about that. But, this is New Jersey.

You might want to make a post of that second debate and remind DPers in NJ and anyone who knows anyone in NJ to get out on Wednesday and vote.

Does track record count for anything?

"Newark resident calls out Booker." (Hah, comments at the site are disabled.) http://www.dailypaul.com/301113/this-is-a-great-week-we-are-...

Thanks for pointing that video out.

Of course the comments are disabled! That's how things are done here. Always have been done in that way. Lautenberg will be re-elected to the Senate, just looking younger and more active, using a different name.

Maybe a shot at getting rid of the Patriot Act?

Yes... he just said he would vote to repeal it.

Booker agrees.....but, then says "BUT". That tells me NJ is .waking up! He is appealing to the unwashed mass fringe in NJ. LOL

Booker would vote to keep NSA spying and the patriot act

Cory Booker would vote to keep NSA and the Patriot Act. All he can say about it is that we "need to have a conversation" about it - nothing more. That's government-speak for, "I wouldn't vote against it."

"Lonegan is particularly outspoken in his opposition to the NSA surveillance, while Booker more cautious in his critique; in July a spokesperson for Booker said he opposed the narrowly defeated Amash amendment in the House, which would have banned the NSA's ongoing collection of the phone records of all Americans."

NJ

No doubt about it.

I just meant that when Booker said he agreed with Lonegan, it was just a bunch of empty words, hoping for a slim chance to fool some of the people into voting for him. He really is another Lautenberg, just younger and better looking.

Oh I understand - I just want

Oh I understand - I just want to make sure that everyone is aware that Booker is not being honest - Booker has no silver lining.
:)

NJ

Thank you!

I am so happy they broguht up the Patriot Act. All this talk about government spying lately, but not about the law that made the spying so much worse.

Lonegan

Just addressed international affairs.

Neo-Con Alert...

His CONUS policies are on point though.

be. He's Ted Cruz lite.

If this debate tells us

If this debate tells us anything, it's that Lonegan is good at memorizing talking points :)

LOL I thought the same thing about Booker!

Lonegan will say what he thinks you want to hear. Okay... it's a starting point... then we can hold him to what he said. NJ is a small state in area, but huge in population. The guy's gotta come back here and face us every now and then.

There it was! Lonegan just tipped his hand.

Israel first! So, when it comes to foreign policy, it doesn't make any difference who we send to DC. Real turn off for me. BUT, domestic policies, gotta go with Lonegan.

Lonegan: won't talk to Iran

Lonegan: won't talk to Iran, will defend Jerusalem.

So let me get this straight

booker admits that legally purchased guns are not the problem, so his solution is to increase background checks on legally purchased guns.

Whoa! Booker is making us out to be "fringe"!

Lonegan is siding with us all the way and Booker responds that our views will make things worse for the country? Unbelievable.

"Extreme" is Booker's favorite word.

"Extreme" is his favorite word. And he's unable to answer on topic!

How do you feel about Lonegan?

I probably agree with him on about 60% of the issues. Not sure if I'll vote for him though, because 40% is a pretty big compromise, and he has a distasteful personality.

If you live in NJ, you should think about voting him anyway.

Got the sample ballot in the mail this morning. Looking at all the candidates listed there as running for the Senate seat, it will be too easy to switch the votes (not unlike the Diebold machines did in the last Presidential primary). We'll need big numbers going out to vote to overcome Diebold.

I probably will
