If The Capitol Hill Woman Had Been Shot By An Armed Citizen, Instead of a Cop, None of You Would Care

Quite pathetic. You've all jumped on the anti-government / anti-police sensationalization of this Captiol Hill shooting. YES: checkpoints are annoying and a sign of the police state.

But is there NOT such a thing as crazy American citizens? Jesus, we libertarians spend all day CRITICIZING the average American for being coked up on prescription meds and mainstream media, but apparently it's impossible for one of these same American citizens to erratically go on a driving rampage that nearly runs over multiple cops?

The cops resisted shooting into her car for a full 20 to 25 seconds AS SHE'S swerving and reversing and nearly running over cops with her 2-ton-metal-machine-of-death called a car.

Sorry, but if I was there, and there was a woman erratically swerving and screeching her car around me, I'd be compelled to shoot her, too.

Who wouldn't?

Fact is, if the woman shot to death had been killed by an armed citizen, instead of a cop, NO libertarians would give a shit.

First off, look at her car when it was initially boxed in

which resulted in a bunch of armed, trigger happy thugs, on a big game hunt, to shove hair trigger weapons in her face. She supposedly "rammed" a barricade designed to stop a large truck and there is no obvious damage to her vehicle after ramming such an obstacle . Let's explore the fact that the supposed weapon she was wielding, the much vaunted "two ton car", was incapacitated and no threat when she was gunned down.
Personally, I think the cops were aggravated by her showing their incompetence behind the wheel, as she was trying to save her and her kid's life she made them look like Nascar rookies.
By the way, one of her manifestations of mental instability was that Obama was monitoring her activities, she must have been crazy and deserving of elimination. I think some one is at my door.

If an armed citizen had shot this lady I would assume that the armed citizen would be charged with manslaughter or murder...depending on the circumstances, and I would support that. And so, I support charging the cop(s) with manslaughter or murder depending on the circumstances.

first of all the average citizen has to follow the law when

using a firearm for protection, obviously the police don't.

Those police were never in danger, they are the ones that blocked her in.

was no need to murder her....

if she absolutely had to be stopped, police could have shot out the tires. Instead they shot inside the vehicle apparently

The question is, and should be...

What were the exact circumstances of the situation at the time she was shot and killed?

Everything leading up to that point should be moot, even if she did threaten lives up to that point.

I don't know the circumstances of the situation AT the point where she was killed, but if it can be determined:

1) That she posed an imminent threat to the lives of the officers immediately prior to her death, then it's a justifiable shooting.

2) ANY other scenario is an unjustifiable killing.

Unfortunately, with the way the media works these days, it'll probably be pretty difficult to get an unbiased account of the actual situation as it occurred.

And I forgot to mention...

my disdain at "standing ovations" over the loss of a life... and I don't give a damn who it is.

First of all these moron cops shot into a car with a kid in it (not saying it wasn't wrong of the mother to be driving like that, and resisting the police, and putting the kid in danger to begin with). This is just speculation, but it seems there's a good chance they saw the kid when they were right up at the window of the car, and if they did, then f**k them for pumping bullets into it. Also they shot her when she was running away, the danger ("two ton metal machine of death") was out of the equation, and you think shooting her was the best course of action at that point? That's absurd.

I'd have probably given the order to fire.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

shoot the tires first

shoot the tires first

COME on man

For one thing, I don't believe there are any "armed citizens" in Washington DC. Is that not one of those super safe "gun free" zones?
Second, what would being a libertarian have to do with anything?
AND. What if she simply panicked? Or her car malfunctioned? Or any number of other crazy things that could have been the cause of all of the radical tire screeching scenario? Oh yeah...we'll fix that...just start blowing lead in that general direction. I don't believe that attitude should garner you a CCW permit. And it certainly should not allow the police involved to continue in that line of work either. Because it is not "just" the average American that can be all coked up on prescription drugs, or be crazy. How is it that some of these cops can not be on prescription drugs, maybe a little crazy? Why is it that they can get away with acting a little over the top, but we can not?
I remember a story out of Cleveland Ohio where more than just several cops unloaded over a hundred rounds into a car killing both people inside over what could have very well been a backfire.
Anyone lose their job over it? They called it good police work.

You're assuming an armed citizen would've done that.

Truth is most regular folks packing would've let her spin her wheels until she ran out of gas. She was trapped, going nowhere, no gun in her hand, no need to murder her because she pissed you off!

The woman should of had a gun

The woman should of had a gun to defend herself and shot half a dozen of her attackers in the face.

Here's something to consider

Our government should not acted in a way that would cause them to fear the very people they work for in the first place. There is absolutely no reason why Pennsylvania Ave should have ever been closed in the first place. The fact that it was closed is what took this woman's life. Had it been open it would never have happened. Go back to the origin of the cause and effects that lead up to this event to find the true blame.

Usually, i would agree with you

A lot of times people here jump to conclusions about police and automatically assume they are in the wrong. Doing everything in their power including avoiding reason and good argument to the contrary just to say the cops were wrong.

This is not one of those cases.

Armed officers should not have approached and tried to stop a moving vehicle while on foot. That's a basic thing they teach you in the academy. Never take on a car with your body, you'll lose.

When 10 cops surround your car

you might want to stop and pony up with a lawyer, instead of running off crazy and swerving at them. Just saying from a common sense stand point.

Alot of them are trigger happy therefore we must be cognoscente of that and realize if we do stupid maneuvers (like she did) you might get shot.

Now the wrong and right of the situation we can debate till the cows come home. But if i was a cop and at the end of the day i wanted to go home to my wife and 5 kids, i would not hesitate for one second to shoot someone who has a 2k lb car at me.

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain

Fact is,

she is armed with a car, which can be a dangerous weapon. Nonetheless, the police could have dealt with the situation much differently. From shooting out the tires or having one of those nail strips. Also, instead of all the cops having their guns drawn one could have broke the window to the car and pulled her out when they had her cornered.

Running away from cops has never been considered a reason for shooting and killing.

Holy S#$t

You would have to be a complete idiot to shot someone, as a private citizen, for driving erratically. I know a lot of people who carry guns and none of them would even consider shooting this woman. Please leave your gun at home when to leave the house!!!!!

Murder of an unarmed woman is still murder.
