This is how they deliver the mail these days.

They drive right up onto your front lawn. Via Reddit.

It goes without saying...

Where is the uniform?

In my neck of the woods, you show up without a uniform, to the front porch, you might get shot.

There's two groups city

There's two groups city delivery, and rural route delivery. City delivery is usually a carrier who drives to an area and than gets out of the car and walks to each house and puts it in mailboxes on your porch, and they wear a uniform.

Rural route is considered seperate and they drive the whole route, and generally don't have uniforms, and the mailboxes are all along the road. Also the father you move from the city the less likely they even have mail vehicles and the carrier uses their own vehicle.

Yep

Mine uses his own car and wears no uniform. I'm way out in the woods. :)

They don't make em that big.

Our rural contractor and I...

Our rural subcontractor and I used to race each other to the same addresses for the parking spot in front of the house when I was in the garbage business. They seem to always want their garbage can right next to the mail box, lol.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Safety

Wait, why do I have to wear a full on safety belt in my vehicle when she has a small strap attached across her mid section, that barely fits at that?

Do any of the other reputable delivery services wear full on safety belts? UPS, DHL, FedEx?

In her defense

she would never be able to do this if she didn't drive on the lawn. I couldn't do this if I had to carry as much weight as her. I don't mean the mail.

Public servants earn double the pay of private workers.

And our employees are going to fcuk over their employers any way they feel like these days huh?

How about we start slashing their pay to be more in line with the private sector and see how they feel about that?

Let's all insult Reagan Democrats

Older mail carriers were stripped of their Social Security during the Clinton administration. Younger mail carriers receive Social Security but have no pension although the USPS matches up to 5 or 10% of what they set aside for retirement. Payout, in the latter case, is designed not to keep up with official inflation rates. How about all blue collar worker being stripped of all their benefits so they can be more competitive with illegal aliens and Chinese prison labor. This would allow CEOs to make additional million$ every year. Wait, what happened to Reagan Democrats? Where did they go? When Senators Cruz and Paul suggest forcing all such government working people into Obamacare to punish them for what Democrats do in Washington, they are dismissing their votes. They are telling Reagan Democrats where to go.

A better policy would be to end TPP discussions, scale back NAFTA, send illegal aliens packing to create a shortage of US workers so they can demand a larger share of the US economic pie: so they could afford their own private medical care, so their kids could find summer work instead of taking out student loans, among other things. This would also spur improvements in computerization and robotization to give the US back its edge.

how would you like to

walk 8-9 miles every day in all kinds of weather (here that could mean 105F or -20F) blistering sun, wind, rain, sleet or snow? And put up with micro-management on steroids for $50-60 grand a year or so (after 20 years), like my city mail carrier husband? And he never complains.

You would have to boost their pay to get it in line with private sector, not slash it.

I'm saying the pay fits the job.

.

Yeah, I agree with the rest,

Yeah, I agree with the rest, that doesn't sound all that bad...

When I was 19, I used to work for the "man" at FPL. I averaged 9-12 miles a day on foot as a meter reader in the ghettos of Miami(one of my routes was named 666), with sofla humidity, rabid dogs and crack heads for only 7 bucks an hour. Talk about an underpaid position lol...

That is a little on the stupid side don't you think?

A punk fresh out of high school (if you made it that far) vs. the average annual salary for a postal carrier.

You're joking right?

When I was 19, a family could live on $20,000 per year. Does that mean the average postal carrier is over paid?

UPS and FEDEX are comparable jobs and the salary and benefit package are similar in value.

Wtf!? That sounds great! That

Wtf!? That sounds great! That is a FUCKTON of money for ANY even remotely comparable job in the private sector! What you just described is a DREAM JOB!! You are completely out of touch with reality.

I'm not out of touch with reality at all.

It's a good job for him or he would not be doing it. For some people it is a dream job - you are right about that. I wasn't suggesting it's not a good job or pay - just that the pay fits the work.

The pay fits the job.

If it's so great, what's

If it's so great, what's stopping you from switching jobs?

If it's so terrible, what's

If it's so terrible, what's stopping him from switching?

Oh really?

Like what?

Spoken like a guy that struggles with the daily routine of a job and as a consequence probably has a difficult time achieving such an "exorbitant" salary.

That is a complete lie.

It is propaganda.

This is not something you can take for granted with the French postal service :

Mail Route =/= Paper Route

But I guess no one explained that to her.

My

USPS guy is really annoying. If I am not home, they never leave out in front of my house. And you can walk all the way up to my door which is fenced and throw it in my porch. But they never do. It is quite annoying. And I make sure I say no for signature.

And your mailman is fat and lazy. It is obvious lol.
