Rand Paul or Jesse Ventura in 2016?

Edit)

(I'll introduce this topic late at night so all the wacko-birds can have first crack at it)

((Full disclosure: I am the founder of I punched out Jesse Ventura .blogspot.com ))

(((Secondary disclosure: I have an addiction to parentheses)))

Jesse Ventura is looking/planning to be a spoiler in 2016. I think he would be a more effective president than Rand Paul, because he is less beholden to factions etc. (Will he run under his real name of James Janus?)

Rand Paul is in a more realistic position to become the prez in 2016, at the expense of giving up the power he already has as a Senator.

I love both these guys and am truly torn. Please advise.

Too early to pit against

Too early to pit against allies.

Jesse Ventura isn't a libertarian...

He's seen as damaged goods and that idiotic cocky head nodding after he talks like he's just so thrilled with himself. It's obnoxious and embarrassing. I admire a lot about Jesse but he can sort of come off as a knuckle head and not a statesman. Howard isn't even serious about being his vp. He doesn't need the hassle. He just thinks it's funny to entertain the hilarious thought of him actually doing it. It's always been a goof on his part and Jesse always seemed too thick to get it. He goes out and embarrasses himself by taking the joke seriously. Jesse needs to read Ron's books over again because like I said in the beginning, he's not libertarian enough to get my vote. Particularly he needs to get a basic foundation in economics. Maybe a guy like Tom Woods or Peter Schiff could speak with him about this in a podcast. The Peter Schiff video of him challenging Occupy Wall St. would be a good one for him to watch. He sounds like those guys half the time.

Jesse should be applauded for

Jesse should be applauded for his work to blow open government secrets and I am glad he supported Dr. Paul in the past. However, this does not make him worthy of our support. Remember he supported Dr. Paul, Dr. Paul has never supported him for elected office.

Jesse is not a libertarian. He is in fact a big government liberal leaning Independent. He is not opposed to high taxes. He is not opposed to universal healthcare. He has very little understanding of free market economics. Jesse is good at doing what Jesse does but will never get my vote for president.

Easy choice for me. RAND all the way.

Bump

9-11 was a panda job.

I don't think he will run

I don't think Jesse will run but if he does I would definately choose him over Rand Paul!

Didn't you punch out jesse ventura, chris?

Now you wanna vote for him?

I really think you people have forgotten

... 2008 and 2012 I remember the things we did the money we gave the time we volunteered for what ?

( sigh ) remember this even when the people were INSIDE the concentration camps - they still did the work they were order to do.

The only way this is ever going to change is April 19 1775
In your heart of hearts you know this.

and if you don't ...

Don't Give me Liberty, I'll get up and get it myself!

Jesse will not run. He will

Jesse will not run. He will tease and seek attention to promote a book or a show or something else, but will do what he always does, nothing. He is the same as Donald Trump in that regard.

He also spends more time at his home in Mexico than in the United States. Why would someone who wants to spend so much time in Mexico want to run for President in a Country he does not even want to be in?

On top of that, he is not even a liberty candidate. He is a big government, tax and spend liberal leaning independent. He has some things in common with the Liberty movement, but his policies as Gov were that of a big government liberal.

RAND PAUL all the way.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Rand has a reasonable

chance at winning the GOP nomination. Jesse has zero chance of winning the GOP nomination.

Jesse would have to run independent and that means he has zero chance in a general election...for all the reasons Ron Paul has stated. So, this is not a serious question.

But thanks for offering up some Friday night humor.

Jessie the Outlaw and Larken Rose

Go ahead and down vote. It is just to make a point that what we really need is what would be considered radical fundamental changes that will require a complete shift in how we as humans coexist. Our species is going down a poor path.

That recent proposed BS per Jesse running with

Howard "Dickhead" Stern was enough to put me off Ventura. I mean, why? The answer: NOT serious. Is JV cool? Yes. Has he helped to open some eyes? Yes. But he is not serious.

What would the Founders do?

Rand Is The Only Way to Go

Rand is demonstrating his intention and ability to lead a movement. Jesse is a one time burst of energy. When he was running for Governor, many people in Jessee's campaign assumed that he would build a third party. Many were unhappy with the fact that he became Governor, left, and didn't do much else to build third parties other than campaign for friends and write books (which is valuable, but does not take advantage of his potential).

We had that same problem with Goldwater and Reagan. They had the potential but did nothing to keep the momentum going. (Reagan was ill when he left but the result is still the same - no lasting movement).

Ron Paul never gave up and will probably spend the rest of his life building a movement that will last for generations. Rand is part of that, so it would be best for Rand to win.

Why are we leaving Carol Paul out of the picture Chris?

Carol Paul 2016. 'Nuff said.

If Rand would drop the partisanship

and start leading the party on principles alone, then Rand. But, knowing that there will be establishment baggage hanging on to Rand's momentum if he doesn't start drawing line in the sand, then Jesse would be the only safe option between the two tickets.

IMO

If Americans were ever worked up enough to vote for someone like Jesse, they'd pick someone else.

thinking about this a lot again lately...

Still don't know.

9-11 was a panda job.

would've said YES, to Jesse before; even though

I still respect him for his support of 9/11Truth & an actual investigation into the September criminals as well as blowing the door wide open on JFK & other govt false flags & assassinations, and off-budget programs, etc. it was wholly disappointing to watch him go full retard socialist on oBUSHmaScare; as he put it: it's the law, the law passed already!

Um, what about slavery? Jim Crow? Prohibition? Those, were also ALL 'laws' and 'laws that already passed!' Got nullification & Marbury v Madison much, Jesse!!??

Still, who knows: he once knew nothing about 9/11 Truth (though, unfortunately has fallen into the Judy Woods 'no plane' camp, as of late), and now is one of the more public advocates of it. So he can still learn, and learn to be more informed on fundamental philosophical issues in the liberty/freedom advocacy/debate, especially in vs. the State/the Leviathan.

I truly wish someone would give him a few Austrian econ books to read, or hell, Tom Woods should have a one-on-one sit down with him, because I truly believe he's misinformed and ignorant of the more nuanced econ issues, and not evil, as would be 100% the case with all other politicians.

As for whether he'd be taken seriously if ran with Stern?

Well, frankly while I 'get' that in terms of the sheeple drone-PR it may be still easy to ridicule, the reality is, would he actually be any worse than current batch of batscheisse sociopathic, murderous clowns peppering the halls of DC and State govt buildings?

All State-actors suck & are evil, to me. But, if he were to get in there to, at the least, slow down the physical tyranny, I suppose it's a step in the right direction, because this is a sinking Titanic and no one is gonna 'save' it, unless the entire country suddenly has some freedom philsophy catharsis r3d pill overnight; at best, can cushion the fall, and possibly be placed in a slightly better position to rebuild, after the collapse.

The question for y'all is, do any of you honestly think Rand would open the govt's books on 9/11? Go after previous POTUSes? Hold a Nuremberg 2.0 for them as well as the banksters & their sycophants & other traitors to the republic?

As ancap leaning, my personal criteria, in so far as under current Const. Minarchist paradigm goes, in the interim the best would be have someone who directs this ship at the least, in MORE freedom oriented direction.

So if Rand or Jesse could stop the policestate at home & wars abroad, restore the Constitution, and actually PUNISH ALL alive offenders and traitors of it, I'm open to either one. But still, Jesse is gonna need some serious crash course on econ before he could ever get my support. Still it may come down to who will investigate 9/11, once and for all (though, pretty close to 100% certain, that will NEVER be one of Rand's platforms; Rand Inc. staffers would go bonkers: ie. Austin Petersen, anyone?)

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

Maybe we should send him a copy of "the Law".

It helped me.

If Jesse picks Howard Stern as his running mate,

he won't be taken seriously, ..not for one second!

The Draft, National Healthcare, Michael Bloomberg

Jesse has supported all of these things in the last 2 years, plus Howard Stern and Global Warming, I cannot take him seriously.

I used to like listening to his interviews with Alex Jones, but Alex always had to work hard to get Jesse to wake up... 1 issue at a time.

I support a draft. More specifically, I support what it would

create:

Resistance. En masse.

9-11 was a panda job.

Okay, the same argument can

Okay, the same argument can be made in favor of Gun Control and Concentration Camps. Lots of draftees died in 'Nam before the war ended. Don't draft me bro. OR ELSE!........

Ron Paul has expounded similarly on the topic.

And I agree.

9-11 was a panda job.

Ron Paul on the

Ron Paul on the Draft:
http://www.antiwar.com/paul/paul60.html

...Military needs aside, however, some politicians simply love the thought of mandatory service to the state. To them, the American government is America. Patriotism means working for the benefit of the state. On a crude level, the draft appeals to patriotic fervor. This is why the idea of compulsory national service, whether in the form of military conscription or make-work programs like AmeriCorps, still sells on Capitol Hill. Conscription is wrongly associated with patriotism, when it really represents Slavery and involuntary servitude.

I believe wholeheartedly that an all-volunteer military is not only sufficient for national defense, but preferable. It is time to abolish the Selective Service System and consign military conscription to the dustbin of American history. 500 million dollars have been wasted on the Selective Service System since 1979, money that could have been returned to taxpayers or spent to improve the lives of our nation's veterans.

Ronald Reagan said it best: "The most fundamental objection to draft registration is moral." He understood that conscription assumes our nation's young people belong to the state. Yet America was founded on the opposite principle, that the state exists to serve the individual. The notion of involuntary servitude, in whatever form, is simply incompatible with a free society.

re draft: 2nd that!

you are absolutely right!
it was the BIGGEST, MOTIVATING, IN-THE-HERE & RIGHT NOW issue,
that both confronted and united YOUTH against the viet nam war, EN MASSE!

And how long did vietnam last?

I don't like JV's ideas about that. A draft might make people care, but it won't stop people from being shipped out to die. Wouldn't it be more inline with liberty to just let soldiers have their right to quite when they've had their fill of bullshit. How much war would there be if soldiers were allowed to quit? Free people should be allowed to quit.

"how long" ?

point is, it did have an END..
today, many wars on many fronts..NO end.
a draft, forces a stand, and a decisive action.

Both!

The correct strategy is:1)

The correct strategy is:

1) support Rand in primaries.

2) if Rand wins, support Rand in general.

3) if Rand loses, support Jesse in general.
