If you could go back in time for only 4 hours, where/when would you go?

Scenario:

You discover a time machine that can take you back in time, only backwards, only one single time and only for 4 hours.

Any time in this planets history, any place on the planet.

Rules:

There is only one rule; You can't come back. After 4 hours, you die and vanish along with everything you carried with you. There will be zero evidence left of your existence (even if you carved the future into the side of a mountain, it too would disappear)

You can tell anyone any thing you wish about the future. (Do not assume they will believe you and burn you at the stake instead).

You can dress in period, or wear modern clothing, you can even bring a laptop or smartphone, although of course, you could only show recordings etc, but not contact the present.

You could bring one small modern weapon and kill whoever you wish, but you are not immune from being killed in less than the 4 hours you were allotted by your target or his/her guards etc.

What specific place and time would you go to?

Could you change the future if you went to the right time and place with only 4 hours to accomplish your goal?

Would you go the the continental congress in Philly?

Would you kill Hitler?

Would you visit Einstein or Ben Franklin? Ceaser or Jesus?

Would you try and stop JFK's assassination?

Would you try and stop 9/11? WW1? WW2?

How would you change the future for the betterment of mankind in only 4 hours?

Or would you just go back to a significant event in time and try to find the truth of exactly what happened, just for your own curiosity?

Could be an interesting and lively topic.

Me? I might go all the way back to the very beginning of mankind and kill the proverbial Adam and Eve and do the planet a huge favor.

Without even a split second of hesitation,

I'd go back into my husband's loving embrace.

Four hours ago...

I was sound asleep. I guess I should hurry up and get back.

Some things change...

...but I was startled to see that I had responded with much the same interpretation less than a year ago below. I guess: "Ya ask a silly question...

My mother died when I was 13

She got a blood transfusion in the mid-60's and contracted Hepatitis C.

She became sick from it in 1983 and none of the doctors knew what it was back then. She was a virtuous woman who never smoked or drank. The disease attacked her liver and she was treated by the doctors and nurses as a filthy closet alcoholic and she died in September that year, after 3 long months of dying in the hospital.

15 years later finally the Red Cross started to screen for it.

So countless people contracted Hepatitis C through blood transfusions from the years 1965 - 1995.

If I was to go back in time I would have told my mother to tell her doctors to skip the surgery. It wasn't even necessary anyway.

Sorry no major historical changes I would make.

I would talk to the founding fathers

I would talk to the founding fathers and tell them to put down only congress has sole power to lay and collect taxes. No central banking. Also when they want to pass Federal Laws they need a national vote by the people not by politicians in Washington. Also write in that all laws apply to everyone.

Probably the most important thing though is have core laws in the constitution that any law passed that conflicts with the core laws will be void.

I'm surprised

that nobody yet chose to go back to Obama's college freshman days dorm room, while he was stoned out of his mind, and anal rapes him with an entire crate of pineapples...you know, pay it forward?

Can't you see? It all makes perfect sense, expressed in dollars and Cents, Pounds , Shillings and Pence

That's easy.

I'd bounce back to when the Constitution was being drafted. I'd urge the Framers to include text more specific in order to:

1. Remove ambiguity from the 2nd Amendment (so: 'People--as individuals--can be armed with whatever weapons they require to prevent tyranny, defend their States, and protect themselves,' perhaps?)
2. Outlaw central banks and forbid fractional reserve banking practices
3. Promote States' rights and include suggested (but by no means limiting) protocol for nullification of federal law by States, either collectively or individually. Also, reinforce that the Constitution is a contract nullified if broken by illegal / unConstitutional federal government conduct, wherein States may leave
4. Outlaw federal income tax, other BS taxes
5. Outlaw corporate influence over politics (via corporate charters being expiratory and approved by government, etc. as was intended originally)
5.5 Limit terms of Supreme Court "Justices"
6. Outlaw foreign-born people from serving in any degree in any administration or high office (Sorry Hamilton... you fuck! Oh, and Heinrich Kissinger, Brzezinski, et al.)
6.5 Outlaw foreign investment in government bonds, etc.
7. Outlaw government debt
8. Outlaw slavery (a tough one, I know, but why couldn't these people see the hypocrisy of this institution? We know why... just rhetorical question.)
9. Outlaw corporate lobbying, corporate "citizenship" or "personhood"
10.Utterly forbid executive orders, standing armies, etc.
11. ??? (I'm sure I left plenty out, but this may be a good start.)

I know this list is somewhat whimsical, but so, too, is the question posed. Obviously, we know that those powers not delegated to fedgov are *supposed* to fall into State purview, although apparently this needed to be more specifically codified.

I know I am going overboard with the outlawing, too (Perhaps I am a closet oppressor.... LOL!).

Frankly, I would seriously consider outwardly display my technology, modern gadgetry and dress--perhaps even act like an angry deity or something? LOL! *Anything* to put them in FEAR so that they include the right additions. Perhaps show them Civil War casualties / pictures of destroyed cities / etc.

Fun thought exercise regardless!

What would the Founders do?

Outstanding response!

If I may say so

If...

If I could only go back four hours, I'd still have to get all the stuff done that I've done this morning. No thanks.

Someplace where ...

... Marilyn Monroe was naked and horny.

;-)

If no...

...trace of you having been there remains, even the information you might carve into a mountain or transmit to another person's memory, will disappear, then won't the people whose minds you want to impact just go back to their old ways after the four hours? Any good you would do would be quickly undone.

But assuming some kind of physical or informational impact would remain, I'd go back to the Adam and Eve moment not to kill them, but to contend against the deceiver, like Ransom did on Perelandra (mythological Venus) in CS Lewis's Space Trilogy.

If it was just for pure, random curiosity's sake, I'd like to go back to Ancient Britain and see if the legends of Christ visiting there in his youth are true. :) (Reading a book on that now.)

This reminds me

This reminds me of something that just about everyone thinks about at one time or another and that is thinking back in time to things we would have done differently.

Of course we cannot go back but the thoughts enter the mind both with regret and guilt for me at least.

I would not want to go back to change history if I could, but to change me.

So many things for me that I would change if I could.
So many things I'd done that I should not have done.
So many things that I should have done, that I did not.

Which leaves me with the very thought of another "Oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death"

I thank my God through Jesus Christ who has forgiven me, and who has by His grace changed me, and given me the peace I need daily to go on and live differently with a most thankful heart.

Peace everyone

How would popping in to the

How would popping in to the continental congress with a video projector and the history of the US up until now go? How would they react? I can't imagine.

End The Fed!

I imagine that..

Ben & Thomas would step aside ( as they would be the only 2 or few in the room, who would immediately 'get it')

They would probably agree right away to rewrite a much stronger and specific Constitution and Bill of Rights

Right here on this planet

not so many years ago. And I don't need 4 hours.

I'd die right now to spend another minute with the love of my life.

Thanks for asking.

that's all.

wow smudge that was powerful,
if only everyone could have that love you feel.
Just think!!
if only everyone could be loved in a way you love
just think!!

Why would I go back just to die?

Kill Hitler? What for? Everything he wanted is being done now. Kill Stalin or Mao and there would have just been someone else to take their place.
Some things you just can't stop. You, being one person, wouldn't have been able to stop 9/11 - that was planned for a long time and involved who knows how many people.
And killing the 'proverbial Adam and Eve'? Kinda misanthropic, if you ask me. I like people. Sure, some can be a pain, but sometimes you meet some really nice ones. And most times you never know the good you've actually done.
Like this... Months ago I was talking with this guy I see every so often. Well, I ran into him yesterday and he said he was thinking about me and wanted to thank me because he had taken my advice from when we last spoke and his life really improved. I don't even remember what I said, but was happy I actually said something useful.
I think you're missing the point of life with that last comment of yours and, IMHO, it's a shame.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

I have to admit

I'm not proud of my last comment either. Nor would I ever murder any person, back in time or not. Distract, just enough, perhaps + I up voted your reply

Okay, but...

What if you showed Hitler what the future of Germany looked like in, say 1935? Would he have changed course?

What if the Founding Fathers had specific knowledge of America some 200+ years later? Would they have written a stronger, say impenetrable constitution?

What if you exposed to the world on 9/10 what was going to happen the next morning?

What if you sat down with Mitt Romney in January, 2011 and showed him his own future?

One day, I'm gonna' change my name to Dale Lee Paul

hmm

What if you showed Hitler what the future of Germany looked like in, say 1935? Would he have changed course?
He was a psycopath. You think you will change the mind of a psycopath?

What if the Founding Fathers had specific knowledge of America some 200+ years later? Would they have written a stronger, say impenetrable constitution?
I think the real Federalists like Patrick Henry, George Mason, Cato etc did give them specific knowledge of how it was going to turn out and Madison and his cronies ignored it.

What if you exposed to the world on 9/10 what was going to happen the next morning?
They'd think it was a movie promo. I remember in the mid-90s a movie ad with a pic of the towers falling and it send a chill down my spine. I even thought, "Why are they making that happen?" I can't recall the name of the movie, though, but whenever I saw a bus with the ad on the side of it, I hated it.

What if you sat down with Mitt Romney in January, 2011 and showed him his own future?
You really think Mitt cares? He new he wasn't going to win. The black boxes are rigged.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

The moment the towers

The moment the towers fell
The moment treyvon fell
The moment Hastings Fell
The moment Bengazi fell
The moments IRS chooses its targets
The moments politicians make their minds up in a bill
The moments of an attack to two opposing sides
And much, much more

Probably gonna have to add an invisibility cloak on this one, and binoculars and audio amplifier and a camera, many many cameras

Just to know....you know

If only

I would go back in time to meet myself

And basically cause the chaos that Biff did in Back to the Future 2.
