The Zionist Shumer from New York objects to funding national parks and everything else. His kind has trouble not getting what they want, so he has to make everyone suffer.
Not going to accept infiltrator Cruz.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 1.8 million civilians work for the Federal Government, excluding the Post Office. Below is a link to the relevant BLS website, lots of good information.
Will the non essential workers get paid work the time off. Absolutely. Why? Because they are all potential whistle-blowers! A more accurate term would be being PAID-OFF. Could you imagine the damage control required for 800,000 disgruntled employees?
800,000 deemed nonessential
"A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote to keep things the same", Buckminster Fuller..
A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.
All the trolls are working overtime to bring awareness of the nonessential workers who are no longer keeping their seats warm..
at around 29 minutes 30 seconds goes into the story of his spending "a month ago, a day at the National Institutes of Health". He speaks of meeting a twelve year old girl who needs medical care. He speaks of the babies, the children, and [oh yeah...] adults who need care through the NIH. He fails to mention that the House bills he's refused to confer before the Senate have all contained full funding for the NIH.
Open the government by passing the CR, give us everything we want & then we'll go to conference on everything including health.
We have compromised in big time fashion.
Big Woop Harry!
note, I see that our Congress critters, many of whom have been 'running off at the mouth about fairness' decided that instead of denying themselves pay during shutdown, they'd instead give furloughed federal workers back pay. I think it was a unanimous vote, too!
Color me surprised! /sarcasm

Looks like Cruz is standing alone and doing battle with all the democrats in the senate and holding his own.
It reminds me of a movie I saw in 1967. One man, severely outnumbered doing battle.
Cruz ate their lunch.
I was at the movie too, with my wife who is also AMC born in 1953. Every seat was taken in the theater. We couldn't even sit together.
That was Billy Jack 1971.
His Born Loser movie was 1967.
Thanks for the correction. I forgot which one came first.Several years ago,I visited Prescott Az and walked around the courthouse square where the fight was filmed and found a little cafe across the street that I think was used for the ice cream shop.
It is a fallacy to assume that one person can speak for a multitude of individual values, and it is one reason why the government has reached an impasse with no solution in sight.
Conversely I believe that the political answer would be to dignify the prerogative of individual choice via volitional public Trusts, while reserving the right to withdraw from abuse (ie. abolishing mandates and taxation etc)
Funding waste and fraud are not essential.
