How To Save the Rainforest (The Libertarian Way)

I just posted up this fundraiser for a film project my friend and I want to create. It would take us throughout South America, using direct action to save the Rainforest. Ideally this film would include an interview with Sen. Rand Paul to talk about Legalizing Hemp in the U.S. as a cheap alternative source of paper and fiber (and even protien).

Here is the Indiegogo Link: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/how-to-save-the-rainforest...

I apologize for the video quality (thus why we need funds for equipment and help). I can put together trips, I know how to talk to people, and I have a vision. I need my friend Jules to help film, and some friends to help make music and edit the video we capture.

Here is the mini-documentary Jules made during his recent trip:

Even $5 will help get this thing going! Take into mind that along the way we will be interviewing and talking to all sorts of people, with my perspective as a "Ron Paul Green" included.

wow, had 3 friends drop $173 collectivelly

All I'm asking my DailyPaul friends for is a $1. If you can give a dollar it'd help a lot! Help us keep the momentum going.

$7 shy of next "doubling" goal

My friend just contributed $100 to put us $7 within reach of our next goal. Can anyone help with $7 from the DailyPaul?

Jack Wagner

Special Forces

Some countries use them for things like this.

How so?

Do you mean that some countries use Special Forces to protect the Rainforest, or to exploit it?

Jack Wagner

Are used to protect wildlife preserves.

Good work!

I always love hearing about the work you're doing, Jack. Keep up the good fight! I'll be spreading the word on this campaign some more today, too.

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible."

Sunday Goal: $40 in small contributions ($1 even)

Okay, I put up a $1 perk, "Can you spar a buck?"

I made my goal for the day making my Doubling Goal to $80. That will leave only 8 doublings left in the next three weeks. We can do this. We need momentum though, so as many $1 contributions as possible will help bump us up on the IndieGogo site.

Jack Wagner

Well, got a $100 contribution instead!!!

A friend just dropped $100, pushing us up to $140. And I'm about to head up to a friend's that said he'd drop $20. Baller! Good day!

Jack Wagner

And an additional $20 makes it a double-double!

Went from $40 to $160 today, pulling a double-doubling! Only 8 more doublings to go in the next 22 days and we make our goal, head to South America, show how libertarians get things done, and meet up with Rand in D.C. to talk about bring the country together around Hemp; for jobs, environment, and good ol' common sense.

Jack Wagner

Up to $20! That's 1/1000th! .1%

So I realized we just need to make our total double 10 more times.

10 - 20 - 40 - 80 - 160 - 320 - 640 - 1280 - 2560 - 5120 - 10240 - 20480! Goal!

Thanks to the two funders so far! Can two more donate 10? or 5 donate 4?

Jack Wagner

My boy Doug Landers just double us up!

Doug Nuts just dropped twenty bucks, bringing us up to $40 total.

Only 9 more doublings to go to meet our goal.

Next stop $80 total. $40 more dollars. How about 10 $4 hemp supporters???

Jack Wagner

Glad to do it for ya, good sir!

Great idea. Hemp is going to

Great idea. Hemp is going to be huge.

Advice on how to increase contributions?

I'm getting a lot of great feedback on our proposed project, but not a lot of contributions?

I think if we can get up to 1% ($200) we'll start getting shown to the site users as they browse campaigns.

Remember, if we don't raise our $20K you get your money back.

At this point, a bunch of $5, or even $3, contributions, would help get the ball rolling (and attract bigger funders).

Jack Wagner

The reason you arnt getting

The reason you arnt getting many is because you lack contribution tiers. That, and people like flashy stuff, lots of pictures etc.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Contribution tiers?

How is that different from the perks I have?

Would generic stuff like: $4.20 = Hemp Contributor, $17.76 = Liberty Contributor, etc. be beneficial?

Gamboa Rainforest Resort -- The way forward

libertarian-greens... Here, the self interests of the private resort is tied to the long term interests of the surrounding rainforest.

Yes, please BUY this wonderful libertarian BOOK! We all must know the History of Freedom! Buy it today!

"The System of Liberty: Themes in the History of Classical Liberalism" ...by author George Smith --
Buy it Here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/05211820

We can totally visit that on the way from Costa Rica to Columbia

That is awesome! Thanks for posting that, if we get these funds that'll be pretty cheap to stop at and interview/document.

Good way to promote!

Please bump it on your facebooks and such! Maybe one of your friends is dying to give a bunch of money toward making the film.

Jack Wagner

I've done documentary film work in third world locations.

I'd be happy to share what I know with you guys if you want. Just send me a private message.

Good luck with the project. I think it's a great idea. Cheers!

Advice would be amazing. Any chance you can help contribute? 3 dollars for the third-world?

Jack Wagner

I'll consider it.

Good luck! The environment is

Good luck! The environment is one issue I haven't seen libertarianism address sufficiently.

The answer is private

The answer is private ownership, which does not exclude corporate sponsorship or foundations (if there are concerns that rain forests, or whatever, will be paved over and turned into resorts).

Thank You!

I got my first $10 contribution off here tonight. Any interest in contributing $5 to help? If I don't make thet 20K you get it back. This film will help bridge that gap, and calm the division between "libertarians" and "progressives."
